Congrats, Mega for being qualified 2 weeks in a row! ;)
Marike Gunawan (INA) d Matulanda "Lala" Lumanauw 63 75 - you made it this time, Marike! :D Lala, better preparation next time maybe? :(
Mimma "Mummy" Chernovita (INA) d Varanya "Kaew" Vijuksanaboon (THA) 67(3) 64 61
Mama Mimma is still strong despite of her age! She was born on November 11, 1974! ;) Kaew, next time better! :wavey: Kaew was born on November 12, 1987! Battle between 2 generations!
Aya Oasa (JPN) d Astri Purnawati (INA) 76(4) 26 61 :(

jirobkk Oct 6th, 2003, 09:10 AM Kaew  Better luck next time.
Shine On Silver Moon Oct 6th, 2003, 10:47 AM Score correction for final Q when Mimma Chernovita d Varanya Vijuksanaboon, the actual score was 76(3) 46 61! I rechecked today at the official scoring board! So, the info was a mistake yesterday! You know, people could get mixed up when they read score sheet! ;)

Meng Yuan (CHN) d Aleta Sungkono (INA) 62 61 :(
Nadine Hassinger (GER) d Mia Sacca (INA) 63 61 :(
Eny Sulistyowati (INA) d Rosidah K Dewi (INA) 60 61
Pichittra "Mam" Thongdach (THA) d Berveine Mohammed (AUS) 60 60

Doubles' Q:
Suzanna Anggarkusuma/Marieke Gunawan (INA) d Aya Oasa/Berveine Mohammed (JPN/AUS) 41 42 :D Suzanna is the oldest player in this tourney!

lin Oct 6th, 2003, 11:36 AM thanks Adji
Good luck I-Ting, Sania and Sandy(tough draw :( ) :)
nkoth Oct 6th, 2003, 02:37 PM Grr, enough with the $10K's Sania -- we all love ya, but you *have* to start challenging yourself at the $25K level! ;)
Go Sania, Isha, Shruti, Rushmi, Liza, Sonal!
Shine On Silver Moon Oct 6th, 2003, 03:18 PM Hi, TBE! U must be happy with the Russian players' wins over the week-end! I know, u always support Sania & Isha! :D
Lin - ni hau ma? I-Ting is the only Taiwanese! :)
I arrived there earlier so that I could watch some players were practicing! Meng Yuan was practicing with her mother and she was simply hitting lightly because her mom was obviously not a player! :o Then her dad came along just to watch from the side! ;) Next to her court, I saw Nadine Hassinger were practicing together with Aleta Sungkono and they were supervised by Aleta's dad! :) Nadine was quite good! In the other courts, Isha Lakhani and Sonal Phadke were hitting balls as well! Isha's mom was watching, too! Next to them, Berveine Mohammed was practicing with Rowena Baierl! These two gals are big but they don't produce solid groundstrokes! Eventually, I saw a group of Thai players such as Chattida, Orawan, Varanya and later on Gift and Ploy! And then, Denise Harijanto and Mam accompanied by Denise's coach - Agustina Wibisono got there after they had practice at Century Park Hotel's courts! :wavey:
I watched Mam played against Berveine and it was truly one-side match! Mam was overpowering Berveine! :bounce: For lunch, I had the privilege to be with 3 powerful and beautiful ladies - Agustina Wibisono, Denise & Mam! Tina was very kind to treat us! We had very good lunch not too far from Hilton! Thanks, Tina! :wavey:
Anyhow, below is Tuesday's order of play - all start not before 10 AM:
Court 1:
1) Samrita Sekar v Mimma Chernovita
2) Mam v Mega Sukmawati - Mam will have no problem! :bounce:
3) Naoko Horikawa v I Ting Wang - Wang should win!
Court 2:
1) Liza Pereira v Eny Sulistyowati
2) Denise Harijanto v Nadine Hassinger - Good luck, Nis! :D
3) Ayu Fani Damayanti v Aya Oasa - I bet Ayu will win! ;)
Court 3:
1) Liza Andriyani v Gift - Gift may pull an upset!
2) Sania Mirza v Meng Yuan - Meng could give Sania challenge!
3) Sandy Gumulya v Isha Lakhani - Isha is too good, IMO! But Sandy, just do it!
Court 4:
1) Diana Julianto v Orawan Lamangthong - 50/50 chance for both!
2) Annette Kolb v Wukirasih Sawondari - Annette is tough for Wukir!
3) Rushmi Chakravarthi v Maya Rosa - Rushmi is too strong!
Court 8:
1) Shruti Dhawan v Chattida Thimjapo - Shruti seems in good shape! Chattida as well, so 50/50 lach!
2) Febri Joana v Wilawan Choptang - Wilawan is tough!
Court 9:
1) Ploy v Sonal Phadke - I think, Ploy may create an upset!
2) Septi Mende v Marieke Gunawan - Septi, easy for her to win!
okiazr Oct 6th, 2003, 05:29 PM OMG... suzana anggarkusuma is playing here?....
sartrista7 Oct 7th, 2003, 12:35 AM Get the hell out of these weak-ass tournaments Sania
Go Isha and Wilawan :D
nkoth Oct 7th, 2003, 12:46 AM Get the hell out of these weak-ass tournaments Sania
While I definitely agree with you... it's also a (relatively) easy 6 points for winning the tournament. When you're limited by age as to how many you can play, it's not the worst idea I've ever heard to maximize your points per tournament.
At the recent $25K in Peachtree, for example, Sania earned only 1 1/2 points in losing in the 2nd round of qualies.
Though I can see the merits of both sides -- point (and therefore rank) inflation vs truly challenging yourself though losing often -- I definitely come out on the side of challenging yourself. Sania is young and should be pushing to be the best she can be -- meaning playing the tough matches that will give her the experience to make a successful transition to the upper levels of the WTA.
Anyway...

rated_next Oct 7th, 2003, 12:54 AM Sania has every right to be here.
If her ranking was inside the top 300, I'd agree with you, but she isn't, and this is a great place to get some wins.

Agree with everything here; Sania's reached the stage where picking up easy points doesn't really matter any more, and she won't make any noise in the bigger tournaments unless she has experience in them. She has nothing left to prove on the Asian circuit; she's torn up the draw most times she's played, and she should at least be looking to play against fresh faces and different styles.
Of course she has every right to be here, but it's disappointing that she's not looking to play up and improve her game.
jirobkk Oct 7th, 2003, 02:23 AM Hi Adji, :worship:

Sandy Gumulya (INA) d (2) Isha Lakhani (IND) 36 63 75  ;) :bounce:
Sania managed to handle the Chinese pressure cooker, Meng Yuan! Meng gave a fierce fight in 1st set! In TB, she led 6-4 and she made DF! Then Sania rallied to close it out! 3 Chinese supporters from the embassy were there cheering on Meng!
Eny was quite consistent and persistent in rallying all the strokes! A mother of a baby boy, she was still good in long rallies! Pereira was slightly less consistent then!
Nadine was stronger than Denise who made more UEs! Denise was still not consistent yet and she seemed upset to herself several times!
Wilawan was better than Jojo definitely! Next, Jojo will travel to Hong Kong and Thailand for some junior tourneys! Get better, Jojo!
Maya Rosa was a fighter today! She was not giving up! In 2nd set, she was behind 2-5 and then she managed to tie it at 6-6 and won the TB! Great work, Maya! :bounce: Sorry, Rushmi!
Ayu was much better than Oasa! Too bad, she will play Maya tomorrow! Good luck, Ayu!
Diana was lucky to win since Orawan made many UEs! Diana was not in her best form yet! It seems that her game is not as good as she used to be! Maybe, she still adapts to Yayuk's teaching! :D Orawan's mother was busy with the camera and was nervous!
Ploy was playing quite good! Sonal was not in her form! Yay, Ploy! Sorry, Sonal!
Kaew was leading 3-2 in 1st set until Wukir found her own game and was simply controlling the match! Kaew has made good progress since I saw her last February in Jakarta! Her dad was nervous on his chair as well! Yay, Wukir! Good fight, Kaew!
Mimma was so persistent! Too bad, Samrita! Mama Mimma, Yay!
Septi outclassed Marieke!
I Ting Wang was overpowered Naoko!
Too bad, before the match Gift told me that she has been having stomachache! It affected her game in center court against Liza! She did not like Liza's slices! Go, Liza and next time better, Gift!
Mam was too good over Mega! Gee, double bagels again today!
Shruti "Mauresmo of India or Sabatini?" Dhawan was too good over Chattida!
Sandy played her best despite of getting cramp on her hand! Her old injury affected her again! She fought so hard against emotional and loud screamer like Isha! Isha's mother was uneasy on her seat! After the match, Isha threw her racket, drinking bottle and she was just very mad to herself! Poor, Isha! She was so PO big time! I could see from her face! :fiery: Great work, Sandy for fighting like today!
For lunch, Wukir was very kind to treat me along with Gift and Ploy! Yay, after she had that paycheck from Tashkent! We had a great and delicious lunch in a very popular resto nearby! Yummy cuisine! Ploy and Gift are sweet and fun persons!
Very good day for Indonesia by upsetting 2 strong Indian players! We will see how far can these local players go! Sania is still very tough, I think! Ploy is "hot" as well as I can feel! She can be a "darkhorse"...she will meet Diana and their H2H 2-1 for Diana but in their last meeting Ploy won the match in India! Um Indonesian, but I am cheering for Ploy! Diana is not in her form yet, IMO!
BTW, I will be there after lunch so I will miss singles' matches tomorrow for sure! :( Oh, well...c'est la vie! :wavey: :bounce:

danielrosario Oct 8th, 2003, 06:04 AM Neil, I agree. I hardly expected things to go the way they did. Sonal's loss was on the ards, but I though all of the other 6 would win.

lin Oct 8th, 2003, 12:02 PM I-Ting   disappointing two weeks in Jakarta :(
jayakris Oct 8th, 2003, 01:17 PM I think Sania is playing these events for no reason other than to keep some points in there and the ranking at a safe top-450 level. She really needs to take time off to go into coaching - it is pretty clear to me, based on reults against top-250 WTA players and top-20 junior players, that she needs to close some serious gaps in her game with coaching [It has got to be gaps in the game, the way she completely dominates players below those levels].
If the plan is to spend a few months for coaching, it makes all sense to have a safe ranking to come back to, when you get back on court. She had 10 points falling off from last november (back to back Manila titles) and would have fallen a bit in the ranks. Remember, she needs a rank near top-400 or so to get going in the challenger qualies etc, in a few months (hopefully only after coaching in Paris with Bob Brett).
Basically it is useless to try challenger levels now, as she is probably not ready to win much at this point. By middle of next year, she will be ready. Then these points (and the points from back to back Nigeria titles this year) would come in really handy for entries. many more weeks would be wasted on challenger circuit for her to pick up 25 odd points - time she does not have right now. I think she probably already knows what things to improve on, which are causing her to lose to top challenger players - so no need to learn that from more challenger matches. Rather grab points, be safe and go into a serious coaching program.
I am sure Sania and her dad/coaches know that these events give her nothing else but some 10-12 points. That is all they may be looking for.
Jay
Shine On Silver Moon Oct 8th, 2003, 02:40 PM Thanks Oki for posting the scores! I wonder where you got it from! :D
As I told you yesterday that I could not watch the morning session so finally I arrived at 1.15 PM and I was still able to catch the last singles' match btw Septi and I Ting, plus 2 doubles' matches - Sania/Rushmi v Chattida/Varanya and Isha/Sonal v Mimma/Eny on center court! Then, rain halted all the 2 matches except Sania/Rushmi who finished just in time before rain began! The first match was played after rain at around 3.30 PM - btw Orawan/Liza against juniors Mia Sacca/Mega Sukmawati! I had fun time since I got to meet other fans like Andre, Iqbal, Deva, uncle Satrya, Edy and others! I got chance to chat with Sandy Gumulya's mom and dad, too! I saw Basuki's son who was very active obviously! He looks like his dad! Again, I talked to Ploy, Gift, Mam, Denise, Jojo, Ayu, Liza, Wukir and beautiful Sonal! :hearts: I asked her some basic stuff about her tennis career! Sonal is so sweet! ;) I just loved to watch Dhawan! She has an athletic body! Wow, Sania's hair is very nice and long! She can be a star in Bollywood, I think!
2nd rd results - Singles:
(1) Sania Mirza (IND) d (Q) Eny Sulistyowati (INA) 61 61 - I bet, Sania was too powerful over mama Eny!
(7) Wilawan Choptang (THA) d (Q) Nadine Hassinger (GER) 61 21 ret
(WC) Ayu Fani Damayanti (INA) d Maya Rosa (INA) 64 76(4) :bounce:
Felix is right! This is Ayu's first win ever on international pro level! Finally, she beats her senior Maya! You know, they both are from Wismilak camp and they are both being coached by powerful and beautiful Patricia Budiono, former player! From what Deva told me, Maya was applying the right strategy by giving various strokes - slice, lob, FH, BH, volley etc...That's the way she plays! She uses her brain and her heart as far as I have been observing! She has been stronger physically now since I saw her last time in June! Deva was impressed with Ayu's game! He said that she was patient enough to make Maya be frustrated and emotional! Tomorrow, big challenge against "dark horse" Ploy! Ploy seems in her good form! Anyhow, this week is good performance for her and she is flying off to Thailand with Jojo for 2 junior tourneys after a week break!
Montinee Tangphong (THA) d Diana Julianto (INA) 75 75 - I was confident yesterday that Ploy would level-up her head to head with Diana! She told me that she kept attacking Diana and she felt tired after all! I congratulated her and I said that I knew you were gonna win, Ploy!
Diana's serve is not good and she is inconsistent! Yayuk should drill Diana big time in various strokes! We will see! It is all up to Diana to improve or not!
Wukirasih Sawondari (INA) d Mimma Chernovita (INA) 62 63 - Wukir was too strong over married Mimma!
Septi Mende (INA) d (4) I Ting Wang (TPE) 63 46 63 - Great performance by Ninin! I was also confident that Ninin could pull an upset against experienced I Ting! I have not been impressive with Wang's game! I have been watching her since she was a junior player and she has made progress for sure but maybe not enough to compete in such rigorous level! Maybe um wrong! Dunno! Lin, any comment? Septi was agressive with powerful strokes, 3 aces and attacking style. Sure at certain points, she was just hitting overly and just made UEs! Great fight by Septi and next time better, Wang! Septi follows Sandy and Maya...Yes, this trio SMS are all earning 1 for Quality Point!
(8) Liza Andriyani (INA) d (Q) Pichittra Thongdach (THA) 60 63
No comment since I did not get any info!
Sandy Gumulya (INA) d Shruti Dhawan (IND) 62 64 - Good win by Sandy! Poor, Shruti "Mauresmo from India" Dhawan! According to Sandy's mother, she was happy to see her daughter being in her own form after ups and downs after her hand injury! I sense that Sandy is almost back to her normal form...she seems confident! Tomorrow, against Liza - it is rematch after Cigna Open final earlier this year when Sandy defeated Liza!
1st rd results - Doubles:
(1) Sania Mirza/Rushmi Chakravarthi (IND)d Chattida Thimjapo/Varanya Vijuksanaboon (THA) 61 62
(Q) Eny Sulistyowati/Mimma Chernovita d Isha Lakhani/Sonal Phadtke (IND) 46 64 76(6) :bounce:
I watched this match for a while until it was halted due to rain! In 1st set, surprisingly moms - Eny/Mimma could challenge the younger Indians! Finally, these two young mothers were fighting all out and they won! I had to go home when they began to play final set! Then Andre told me that Isha was very angry after she lost the match!!! Does she always behave like that? Sure, she screams a lot! What a contrast to Sonal!
(WC) Denise Harijanto/Pichittra Thongdach (INA/THA) d (3) Naoko Horikawa/I Ting Wang (JPN/TPE) 16 62 62 - Great win by good friends such Denise and Mam! Go junior players! This match was the last match to be done at 7 PM or so! I sent sms via cellphone to congratulate Anis and Mam!
Sandy Gumulya/Wukirasih Sawondari (INA) d (Q) Suzanna Anggarkusuma/Marieke Gunawan (INA) 75 63 - When I left Jakarta Hilton, Sandy/Wukir led 5-2 in 1st set! Yay, Sandy won over her coach, Suzanna!
Orawan Lamangthong/Liza Pereira (THA/IND) d (WC) Mia Sacca/Mega Sukmawati (INA) 61 67(?) 63 - Orawan made number of UEs! Easy stroke she could not handle especially in front of the net! Less experienced Mia/Sacca fought hard in 2nd set! In fact, in 3rd set, Mia/Mega led 3-1! Liza was the playmaker! She could hit solid groundstrokes! Orawan/Liza rallied to win then!
(4) Liza Andriyani/Diana Julianto (INA) d Montinee Tangphong/Thassha Vitayaviroj (THA) 63 57 61 - I saw this match until 2nd set! It was good match to watch actually! In 2nd set, Liza/Diana were down physically!
Septi Mende/Maya Rosa (INA) d Samrita Sekar/Meng Yuan (IND/CHN) 62 ret (Samrita retired)
(2) Wilawan Choptang/Shruti Dhawan (THA/IND) d Ayu F Damayanti/Febri Joana (INA) 64 64 - Good fight by Ayu/Jojo!
Look forward to watching QF tomorrow! Too bad, I will not watch Friday and Saturday but I will try to get update from the committe then! :bounce:

Thanks Adjie for the report. I'm glad to know that Ayu has vastly improved since the last time you saw her. Her result is gradually improving. I think she has never beaten any of the trio SMS before, and now I hope with this win, it will boast her confidence.. C'mon Ayu :bounce:
Ploy :)
Too bad for Diana.. diana had been so-so throughout they year.. she didn't make any improvement at all.. Good luck

According to the person who watched the match, Ayu's weakness is service. Ploy took advantage of these by hitting flat shots to the corner of the courts and forcing Ayu to stand near the baseline and played defense.
Today Ploy played quite well with powerful strokes to the the corner of court. Ayu did a lot of cahsing. In addition, Ayu hit lots of topspins but Ploy would just eat this up.
BTW the score was Ploy 6-2 4-6 6-1.

I met many Indonesia girls in Nonthaburi last August. But I did not know about Ayu. I'm pretty sure she is a talent player. Please let me know Ayu's profile and picture if any.
Actually Ploy is a kind of aggressive player. She is hitting the ball harder than Gift. Luckily I think she did not make too many UE against Ayu. Hope Ploy will be continue this great form against Sania tomorrow. :hearts:
Once again thanks for your report.

Hmm.. Ayu Fani Damayanti. She's a junior player. I think she's only like 14 years old. Hmm.. She's now sponsored by Wismilak and she's from Bali. Her junior record ain't that good.. I think her junior rank is about 200+ (that's because she didn't travel much.) I think she's one level below trio SMS, she has never beaten them before so yesterday's win aagainst Maya hopefully would prove something. This is like her 4th international pro event. Her first event was 2nd series of 10k in Jakarta , she lost to Septi Mende. She receieved a WC in Bali this year in qualifying (she is from BAli!!), she lost to Zi Yan 4-6 3-6 (leading 4-2 and 3-1 ). Last week she lost to Wukir. And this win, she made huge improvement. Hopefully this is just the beginning of her wonderful career ahead. Accroding to the people that watched her play, her eserve is definately the weakness. Other than that she is okay. She is small in size but according to Adjie she has grown much taller and heavier. I don't know. However, when she's playing, shes really great. She can slice, drive, lob, dropshot. She can change pace and depth. Shes a complete player among other indonesian players.
*phew* there are sitll a lot to talk about :p but then again, i shall stop here..
This is her during Wismilak.

Shine On Silver Moon Oct 9th, 2003, 03:41 PM Doubles: Sania/Rushmi d Eny/Mimma 62 61 :(
Well, I arrived at 9 AM and I saw most of the players were practicing in different courts! For singles' matches - my choice was the match between Ploy and Ayu since Ayu was the only local player playing against foreign player!
Ploy immediately took control in the opening set by hitting fast and hard to every corner and this was effective to make her leading 3-0! I have been saying that Ploy is in her good form! Then Ayu managed to close the gap 3-1 until finally Ploy rallied to win 6-2! In 2nd set, Ayu fought harder and the match got tougher until Ploy felt problem on her foot and she asked for medical check! Then Ploy returned to play and Ayu was on fire to take the 2nd set 6-4! Again in final set, Ploy asked for medical break but she was truly in control by hitting flat and fast to different corners and she won 6-1!
My observation: Ploy was dictating Ayu by not letting Ayu to develop her own game! Ayu was trapped into Ploy's game basically and I would say that she was trying to level Ploy's game...at certain times, Ayu was counter puncher! I think, Ploy's game was not likened by Ayu since Ploy could hit so fast and hard so then Ayu did not have time to develop her own style! Ayu was mostly being defensive! She did not play her smart strategy as she defeated Maya yesterday. Sure, her serve was weak! I don't know maybe she thought that she wanted to try to level Ploy's power but too bad it did not work out! Well, 3 sets not bad for Ayu!
Felix!!! Now, Ayu has beaten all SMS until yesterday! At recent senior local tournament - Hamengkubuwono X Cup in Yogyakarta - in SF Ayu (seeded 3) defeated Sandy Gumulya (seeded 1) 16 61 61 then in final she downed Septi Mende (seeded 4) 63 61! It is funny, in senior level nationally Ayu ranked 10 while Septi 12 - Sandy 6 and Maya 7! We all know that in junior level nationally, Ayu is only ranked 7th behind Maya, Sandy, Septi, Dian Mayasari, Denise and Jojo! While based on ITF Junior ranking - Ayu is 4th after SMS!
Her full name is Ni Gusti Ayu Kade Dwi Fani Damayanti - Ayu means beautiful! She is 162 cm tall and her weight is 59 kg! Her goal in junior is to be in top 100! Her current ranking is ITF 260! Next week, she will be playing Grade 2 and 4 in Thailand! All the best, AYU!
Today, Liza was a better player than Sandy! Liza was simply better in her serve, FH and BH slice! Liza was in total control for the whole match! Sandy tried to slow the pace but Liza had no problem with it and she was able to hit any stroke. After the match, Sandy cried so hard! Good revenge by Liza! She was confident and was playing with her heart!
Septi was overpowering Wukir! That's all!
You know, I have been enjoying Wilawan's game style! She is cool, too! From all the Thai players here in Jakarta, Wilawan is my favorite actually! She is very athletic! She has good volley as well! I wish her well! I have not got a chance to chat with her though! I always enjoy to talk with Gift, Mam and Ploy!
The best match for today was QF Doubles match between Wilawan/Shruti against Septi/Maya! It was very very close match! It was reflected in the final scores, 76(1) 76(5)! Shruti has wonderful passing shot - Wilawan has good volley! While Septi has great FH and amazing return down the line as well as tricky dropshot sometimes. Maya has good volley also but she often make easy mistakes! IMO, Septi is the playmaker for this duo.
For sure, Sania is still going strong! It will be interesting SF tomorrow!
All the best to Sania, Ploy, Septi and Liza! :bounce:
SF doubles will be great, too! Too bad, I will miss the singles' SF since I have a meeting in the morning. So, I hope I will be able to watch doubles' SF!
TheBoiledEgg Oct 9th, 2003, 04:01 PM well done Sania again :) :yeah:
jirobkk Oct 9th, 2003, 04:01 PM Thanks Felix :worship: for Ayu's info and picture. She looks great on court. Hope to meet her in Thailand.

Actually May(Wilawan) is a shy girl and not talk too much compared to Gift and Ploy. Happy to know Ploy is playing good tennis.

(8) Liza Andriyani (INA) d Septi Mende (INA) 63 61 - Wow, Liza keeps running to last stage and she has won all her matches in straight sets! I was expecting tighter match! Liza won over Septi last time in Wismilak Bali's 1st rd qualifying! Better result than last week for Liza and Septi! Ploy is tough for Liza!!! :)

Shine On Silver Moon Oct 10th, 2003, 03:29 PM (4) Liza Andriyani/Diana Julianto (INA) d Septi Mende/Maya Rosa 63 62 :bounce: :D Sweet revenge, Liza/Diana! Bad lost Septi/Maya! I did not watch this match but I was informed that Liza was the playmaker for sure! After the other match was over, Septi cried so bad!!! Gee, Sandy and Septi are cranky!
Sandy Gumulya/Wukirasih Sawondari (INA) d (1) Sania Mirza/Rushmi Chakravarthi (IND) 46 63 64 :) :bounce:
I got there at the center court when 2nd set just started! Sandy and Wukir began to attack more with good placings! Wukir was good in front of the net with volley while Sandy was smart with her FH drive or passing shot! Sania and Rushmi played quite well but in critical points they just could not maintain their form! Sania's beautiful mom kept on shouting not far from me! Sania and Rushmi had better serve actually than Sandy and Wukir! After all, Sandy and Wukir played smarter and it was truly very tight match today! Congrats to Sandy and Wukir - yup, I came to them and shook their hands! Sorry to Sania and Rushmi, next time better gals! Really bad day for Sania! Sania was always threw her racket when she was upset or just simply screamed!
I was informed by Dheva on Sania's problem against Ploy...Sania's 1st serve was not effective most of the time so then Ploy was easily returning it fast and hard! While Liza was simply dominating Septi all the way! Liza's very deep BH slices made Septi frustrated since she could only hit either lob or high return and then Liza just executed the winner! :bounce:
So, Liza is still good but whatever the result, our Tennis Association is not likely to consider her to be in any country's team event despite of her national ranking right after Angie and Wynne!!! Come on, Liza - do your best tomorrow! Ploy will fight hard, um sure and Choke Dee to Ploy! Yup, I congratulated Ploy for her big win against Sania! :bounce:
Too bad, I will not be able to watch the final tomorrow since I have work to do! :(

Shine On Silver Moon Oct 11th, 2003, 02:41 PM As I told you yesterday, I had to work until 12 noon today so I missed final match btw Ploy and Liza! As I have been saying all this week, I have witnessed Ploy's game day by day and she has been in her good form! That's why I called her "darkhorse" and indeed, my belief in her came true and she became champion! She deserved this title and I congratulated her this afternoon when I met Gift and her right before they left for Sukarno Hatta Int'l Airport out of Jakarta! I am very very happy for her! ;) For Liza, it was dissapointing but hey, being finalist was not that bad, I guess! Definitely younger Ploy was more agrresive and fit physically! I heard that Ploy was attacking Liza with her flat strokes! For sure, Liza could not keep up with Ploy's high pace since Liza was lacking of speed! :(IMO, Liza is too lady like on court while Ploy is very strong in her game style! Ploy and Gift told me that they are going to play tourneys in Nigeria!!!
Doubles' Final: (4) Liza Andriyani/Diana Julianto d Wukirasih Sawondari/Sandy Gumulya 63 63
I came to the center court on time when these two pairs were about to begin their match! Liza and Diana were playing better than Wukir and Sandy! Sure, Liza and Diana have been together for a while now and both players played quite well! Wukir was playing good especially in front of the net while Sandy was not at her best! Congrats to Liza and Diana for their 1st title together! Wukir and Sandy, not too bad as RU, girls! ;)
Diana is next to play 2 of 10Ks in Japan and she will travel alone in the 1st week and after that in 2nd week, Yayuk will fly there to accompany her as coach! On prizes presentation, Liza gave nice speech and Diana was too shy or not confident to give words! :( :o After Japan, Diana and Liza will play 10K in Manila together with Sandy, Maya and Septi! BTW, according to Yayuk Basuki, Diana will play 25K in Thailand as her last tourney of 2003! Yayuk told me that Diana needed to gain her confidence back by playing more 10Ks!
Indonesia has been chosen to represent ASEAN countries (South East Asian nations) to send women players in Asia Afro Games being held in Hyderabad in the week after next week. At first, they wanted to have Angie and Wynne - but since Angie is still on her tour and Wynne is injured so the choice is this trio SMS then. I know from Sonal Phadke, she is playing Asia Afro Games also being hosting nation representative.
Wow, I saw Agustina Wibisono's daughter - 7 years old and she is tall for a girl at her age! Agustina is former national player and she is now coaching Denise Harijanto - rising junior player! This 7 yo old girl is playing tennis also and um sure she is gonna be great player in the future! :bounce:
Next year, Indonesia will have total of 6(six) tourneys - all 10Ks! :bounce: I told Ploy that some players like Cho of Korea for example - after she won 10K in Indonesia, her ranking steadily improved and I believe that Ploy is gonna fly high later on!
jirobkk Oct 11th, 2003, 02:57 PM Thanks Adji, :worship:
