Helen Fritche:)
Got MD WC's
I'm there Monday,Tuesday and Wednesday
so i'll se all qualifying and 1st round maindraw
paul_masterton Aug 3rd, 2003, 03:15 PM Why the hell did Frances get one? She's been playing 10k qualies in Europe for teh past 3 weeks and has won about 5 games.
I guess that's what happens when you go to a British Tennis School instead of going to teh US or going pro.
Have a great time, watch lots of matches and give good reports ;)
Monica_Rules Aug 3rd, 2003, 04:47 PM I will give good reports!
Shame Melanie had to withdraw i was looking forward to see her back on court.
Alek Aug 3rd, 2003, 05:30 PM Hope Erika Clarke shows up this time

Ok report.
Got their at 10.15
Watched Danielle Brown who hits the ball so hard but misses a LOT!Her opponet was quite good two handed off both sides and hit very flat!
Melissa Gibb was horrible in set 1 the she was good and then she was down 0-3 in the third and never got back.
Davisons opponent did about 40 UF errors and got very angry.Lynsey on the otber hand was having a ball chatting with the umpire LOL!
Alice was playing great.Maybe a few too many UF errors but she was always dominating she was 2-0 up in the second but Kulikova got back to 2-2 then it went with serve. There was a marathon game at 6-3 5-4 on Kulikovas serve Alice had 4 match points with some great aggressive play! She won it on her 5th match points when Kulikova hit a backhand wide.Alice is in great form and should qualify.
Lena was in great form hitting loads of winners she served for the match at 6-2 5-3 but her opponent played better and she did worse. She was totally in control of the tiebreak.i think she'll qualify too.
One court had 6-0 6-0 matches LOL! :o
Oh and on a different note all british male players just start shouting all kinds of stuff quite funnny but also quite scary!
Going back tomorrow!
Oh also a lot of british players training
Emily Webley-Smith
Hannah Collin(she looks good)
Natalie Neri
Karen Paterson was there.
Didn't stay to watch the other matches they looked quite boring.Oh and Lucie Ahl was there with Claire Peterzen.
TheBoiledEgg Aug 4th, 2003, 04:38 PM thanx
Sasha :(:(
Randy H Aug 4th, 2003, 05:45 PM well done Kavitha, Claire, and Karen :D
too bad Kati :(
paul_masterton Aug 4th, 2003, 06:18 PM OMG Richard Irwin is the worst, some of the stuff he comes out with is scaaaary. Especially as he's a bit of a Toff.
Some of teh GB guys are really scruffy and creepy (TOM BURN), and most of the others are toff's. Overall teh girls seem to be a lot nicer, and seem to get along much better.
Glad you had a good time. 1st round starts tomorrow?
Dogdriller Aug 4th, 2003, 07:41 PM Give me a scruffy & creepy man over a toff any day. :hearts:
bluepastures Aug 4th, 2003, 08:16 PM Thanks for the report :)
What a surprise, Yee Wong lost 6-0, 6-0. A regular occurrence! I saw Lena K win the Essex Open on Saturday, she looked in good form then. So I'm pleased to see that she won today.
Great win for Alice. I thought (along with Anna White) she had got the most difficult draw of the seeds.
For me Baczinsky is the real big prospect in this draw. Does anyone know if she beat White today.
I see the LTA are even worse than usual. They've still not got the qualifying draw up on their website.
paul_masterton Aug 4th, 2003, 08:27 PM main draw anyone?
Monica_Rules Aug 4th, 2003, 09:38 PM White was down 0-2 when we left!

Nugent def Davison 6-? 6-2
Wooley def Krishnamurthy 7-5 6-?(she may have retied i was at lunch when this finished
Weiderman def Khan 7-5 6-3
Ok report
Lena was just better than her opponet less UF errors and more winners.Mackensie just dominated her opponent never really troubled her.I think Alice might go far here.
The Cohen Rickets match was great Claire should have won she was up 6-4 4-6 3-0 a doubles break then just played quite bad and started getting angry at herself and line calls.
The Peterzan match was so long over 2 hours again Calire should have won she was 7-6 5-3 up serving and had two match points at 7-6 5-4.
Wooley just hit the ball harder and was better except when she hit the ball about 5 meters out!
Main draw matches
Paterson def Homewood 6-2 3-2 ret there was no reason for Carly to retire that we could see.Karen was playing quite well.
Collin def Coombs 6-3 6-2
Chantal was quite bad, errors all over the place but would throw in the odd good winner.Hannah just played her game.
Webley-Smith def Wallace no idea about the score
Not sure if Emily actullay won cos i was watching other matches but she seemed to be winning most of the points.Emily was not good today lots of stupid errors and bad footwork. She'll need to improve to do any damage here.
Neri was loosing 2-6 1-2 when we left and wasn't playing very well.

paul_masterton Aug 5th, 2003, 08:24 PM (8)Hoch bt Neri 6-3 6-4  but that's a pretty decent showing from Nat. Wish she'd go and play in Nigeria, if Carly can get to the final, Nat can win!
(7)Paterson bt Homewood 6-2 3-2 ret. :D :) Carly has been ill for a while. Pretty much all year. Don't know whats wrong, whether she's permanantly fatigued or might be off-court stuff. Depending on which qualifers are in her section, I reckon Karen could coem through to the semis, she's beaten Hannah before.
(6)Webley-Smith bt (wc)Wallace 6-3 6-2 :D :( Glad to see Emily is keeping up the pace. Shame she got a tough quarter :(
(3)Collin bt Coombs 6-3 6-2 :) Well at least Hannah is finally back. Shame she had to beat Chantal.

And the same next week in London... why hasn't she called the tournaments to withdraw
pfff bitch
paul_masterton Aug 6th, 2003, 06:15 PM omg pathetic from the Brits. There was a Brit in EVERY match but 1, adn the only one's through are those that played other Brits!!
Sarah - that's abysmal, as is the results from both Becky's. Would of liked to see Melissa pull that one off, but she's on a downward spiral at the moment, she, like Reilly and Homewood, will be lucky to be in the top 900 by the end of the year.

Monica_Rules Aug 6th, 2003, 06:39 PM Ok lets talk aboout what i saw!
Well first Natalie Neri is a big lezi with Yael Glitzenstein they were kissing
Anyway tennis
Alice was always gonna win really she was 4-1 down at the start but she just looked better than Hendry.Reilly was awful so was Melissa she led 5-3 in the first set and 4-2 in the second.
Dandeniya was good in set 2 but bar that was awful but she did have a long injury time out in set 1!Helen Fritche was just disgusting errors all over the place the kind i make!
Kirsty should have won but she did too many errors in the last set!
Holly was totally out played. She'd hit a great shot and Bacsinsky would hit a winner off it.Holly was better in set 2 but you always knew Bacsinskywould win.
Llewellyn was playing great then she was broken in set 2 and its kinda went downhill after that. After set 2 she looked shatterd not suprised she lost.
Lena played quite bad from what i saw too many errors.Clarke just didn't show up:rolleyes:
So thats why shes crap Alek shes never there:rolleyes:
OMG Sarah when we l;eft she was 7-5 6-6 but was down 1-4 in the breaker. She was always the better player but she did too many errors off easy shots.
She has a huge forehand and serve and shes hitting her 2 handed backhand again so her hand must have healed fully.
Katie had a horror of a match she barely got a shot in in the first set.Boulikina did nothing really.
In the second Katie led 4-2 and i thought she'd take it she was playing well but the errors returned and she lost.
Bad day for the brits.Judging on 1st round matches i think the final will be Bacsinsky Vs Paterson although Hannah or Emily may raise their level and stop Karen.
paul_masterton Aug 6th, 2003, 06:49 PM Thanks Monica_Rules :)
Melissa :fiery: that makes it even worse.
Lol @ Nat - damn, she's so stunning as well, loving the tongue piercing ;) Maybe she and Yael don't play dubs coz they wouldn't be able to concentarte on the match ;)
Seems that teh Brits generally played badly. I suppose that's better than them being completely outclassed. Its teh suual probelm of once their down, they don't know how to get back into it. And in some cases, when they've got a lead, the can't keep it. Yes i'm looking at you Mel ;)
Darran Aug 6th, 2003, 08:32 PM So dissapointed in/for Sarah Borwell, what was turning out to be a great year early on is turning into a nightmare. :(
Monica_Rules Aug 6th, 2003, 09:13 PM I don't even know how Sarah lost shes such a better player than nugent. She must have done about 30 UF errors or something

Pdm1987 Aug 7th, 2003, 07:06 PM Question: Do you need to take your own chairs, or are their chairs to sit on at the club??? I don't want to have to carry 3 chairs around if there is no need ;)
Also, if anyone else is going, they'll be 3 of us, a chunky girl, a tall-ish skinny male, and me (I'm normal) ;)
Monica_Rules Aug 7th, 2003, 07:14 PM No theres loads of chairs there!
They are between court 6 and 7.So the courst bets visible is 6 and 7 then 5 and 8.
You can watch 9 and 10 easy aswell but i doubt they'll be using them.

Alice :) - pretty comy passage to the Semi's if she keeps her head
No news of Collin v Pavlova?
bluepastures Aug 7th, 2003, 09:18 PM PDM1987, could you possibly do me a big favour tomorrow? Please can you find out what time play is starting on Saturday. I won't have the chance to ring the venue in the evening, as I'll be on the way to Birmingham (my "mid-way" stop on the way to Wrexham). The LTA site aren't getting the orders of play up the night before. I'll be checking WTAworld late-ish tomorrow evening.
I'm really pleased with today's results, as I'm fairly likely to see at least one of Baczinsky, Boulykina or MacKenzie on Saturday.
Pdm1987 Aug 7th, 2003, 09:31 PM yes Bluepastures, I will do my best, what time does it start tomorrow? The O.O.P isn't on the LTA site yet!
paul_masterton Aug 7th, 2003, 09:41 PM i'd imagine it'd start between 10:30 and 11:00 as they have men's semis singles/doubles and womens quarter-finals of singles/doubles.
bluepastures Aug 7th, 2003, 09:45 PM Thanks very much PDM1987. It is really incompetent of the LTA not to put the orders of play up the night b4. What is the point of putting them up during the day of play itself :banghead:
Monica_Rules Aug 7th, 2003, 10:10 PM About Emily when i was there on wednesday i saw her watching a match with hannah she was about 5 meteres away from me and she had some kind of tissue on her head when she moved it she had a bruise there and looked like she had knocked her head.Maybe thats what the problem was?
I'm gonna predict and Alice vs Karen semi and that should be a cracker!
Martian KC Aug 7th, 2003, 10:31 PM Keep going Timea!!:D
Dava Aug 7th, 2003, 11:51 PM Yay Irina!!!!
Jaslyn
I might (might might MIGHT!) be going tommorow so, I hope she does well!

no a tough match against Timea ;)
Randy H Aug 8th, 2003, 07:43 AM Kavitha
wow, surprising win, but a very pleasant surprise! :D
maybe she read my comments after her loss in qualies ;)
good luck in the quarterfinals Kavitha, you have nothing to lose so just go for it :)
Palicot Aug 8th, 2003, 11:04 AM (3) Hannah Collin GBR d. Biljana Pavlova BUL 6-0, 7-5
Palicot Aug 8th, 2003, 11:11 AM Krisnamurthy/Reilly CAN/GBR d. Alexander/Wist 2-6, 6-4, 6-2
Berry/Neri GBR d. Hewitt/Pavlova AUS/BUL W/O
Darran Aug 8th, 2003, 02:25 PM Well done Hannah :)
Has she been injured because i haven't seen alot of her in the last year and notice she only has 14 tournaments to her name?
Monica_Rules Aug 8th, 2003, 04:44 PM Yes Hannahs been injured since about the begining of May.
Paterson def Collin 6-3 6-7 6-4(Not a big suprise on their 1st round performance)
Mackensie lost but no result yet!
TheBoiledEgg Aug 8th, 2003, 04:57 PM Hannah :(:(
Doris Loeffel Aug 8th, 2003, 05:01 PM Wow Timea in the semis and that's from playing qualies too!! (Not bad for a 14 year old ;) )
Keep going Timea!!
Pdm1987 Aug 8th, 2003, 05:13 PM Krishnatmurthy def. MacKenzie 7-6 3-2 retired (I think, not sure on the 2nd set score)
Boulykina def. Senoglu 7-5 6-2 (?) Although i wasn't watching this match!
Pdm1987 Aug 8th, 2003, 05:15 PM Also,
Boulykina/Kulikova led Borwell/Collin (4) 6-4 1-0 :(
Berry/Neri were winning 1-0 in the 3rd!
Pdm1987 Aug 8th, 2003, 05:37 PM I am now a Karen P fan :D that match lasted for over 2 hours! It was probably the most exciting womens singles match of the day ;) karen shows great personality on court, and threw her racket out of the court and onto the club roof, and the umpire gave her a code violation for Racket Abuse! She was also told off for swearing, the umpire saying "If I can heare it, then it's too loud" it was a shame that 1 of these players had to lose, because they, in my opinion, were probably the best there! But in the end, Karens fighting spirit pulled her through. I don't know why she is ranked so low, she should be ranked much higher ;) Same for Hannah!
Bacsinksky was brilliant in her match, although we only saw the 2nd set, where both players were struggling to hold their serve! Hoch is a decent player, but Bacsinzsky was just amazing! ;)
Krishnamurthy vs. MacKensie was poor, both players are poor, and the word to sum this match up is poor. Karen P should definately get to the final ;)
Boulykina was great against the turk, who wasn't really much good, and completely dominated it the 2nd set, although I was watching Karen P's match and wasn't concentrating on this one!
I spoke to Sarah Borwell, and her excuse for losing to Nugent was, she hasn't played since June! Anyway, she's an Aston villa supporter!!! Very nice & chatty, and is stopping in the UK til November :)
Finally, BluePastures; I asked what time the play starts tomorrow, but this were unsure at the time, and asked me to come back when they had the O.O.P, I left at just after 3pm, but they said it'll probably start either 10.30 am or 11 am :) I probably asked the wrong person ;)
TheBoiledEgg Aug 8th, 2003, 05:47 PM Irina :D :D
good win :) now take the tourn
paul_masterton Aug 8th, 2003, 06:12 PM Karen :woohoo: here we go baby :D
Pdm did your friend take her Scottish flag with you? Wonder if Karen's added support pulled her through. Did Sarah remember you from Birmingham?
Brits seem to be fated with injuries at the moment, which is a tad annoying. Still, good passage for Karen to make her first final!! :D
Be good to see Irina get through to the final as well :)
Pdm1987 Aug 8th, 2003, 06:36 PM Pdm did your friend take her Scottish flag with you? Wonder if Karen's added support pulled her through. Did Sarah remember you from Birmingham?
Well, my friend did take his scottish flag ;) and we were all clapping extremely loudly when Karen won a point LOL. Most of teh other clapping was for Hannah ;) These lads were sitting by us, and my female friend wanted to smack 'em ;) because they kept staring at us when we were clapping karen! At the end, Karen did ask us if we were Scottish, and I replied only my friend is, I bet she thought we are stupid!
I don't know if Sarah remebered me from Birmingham, but she will remember me when I see her next time, I told her my GBTG account name as well :) Although the site still isn't working
And could someone tell me who old Boulykina is? ;) She and her doubles partner, looked like mother & daughter!
paul_masterton Aug 8th, 2003, 06:42 PM lol gbtennisgirls IS working!! at least it is for me ;)
Randy H Aug 8th, 2003, 06:43 PM Kavitha :D another win :o though too bad if it came on a retirement :(
and a win in doubles too :)

Dava Aug 8th, 2003, 09:29 PM Irina!
Monica_Rules Aug 8th, 2003, 10:27 PM I thought Karen was gonna get to at least the semis based on her first round match. She just looked so much better than Carly and looked better than Hannah did against Chantal.
Can't believe Alice was bad today she was so good in all the matches i'd seen her play.I couldn't believe the year she had had.
Maybe she had a bad day today.
Dava Aug 9th, 2003, 11:32 AM What time does play start I should be going down there today.
paul_masterton Aug 9th, 2003, 11:36 AM it will already have started, poossibly as much as an hour ago...
Pdm1987 Aug 9th, 2003, 01:37 PM Can't believe Alice was bad today she was so good in all the matches i'd seen her play.I couldn't believe the year she had had.
Maybe she had a bad day today.
Perhaps she was injured before the match! She was 2-5 down in the first set and somehow managed to get it back to 5-5 and then after the tiebreak Alice called the trainer on, and decided to retire when 0-3 down in the 2nd
But I can definately understand why Kavitha Krishnamurthy hasn't got a ranking ;) She is rubbish and Karen should win in an easy straight sets match! ;)
Thanks for the links Paul, they work but the www.gbtennisgirls.com still doesn't
Experimentee Aug 9th, 2003, 04:24 PM Boulykina is 19 according to the info i looked up, but she looks much older than that in the pic
Monica_Rules Aug 9th, 2003, 04:52 PM She does look older that 19 in the flesh she looks about 25 at least!
Krishnamurthy has got a ranking in the 800's but she prob climb close to the 600's after Ireland and wrexham.
Plus shes not that bad!
Dava Aug 9th, 2003, 06:22 PM Krishnamurthy was good today, that was a great match! Well done Kath Pattinson! she won 6-4 6-4. Bulykina lost though. She dont look 19.
Pdm1987 Aug 9th, 2003, 06:30 PM 19  I though she was early 30's  No Way!!!! i don't believe it!
Well Done Karen, although I thought it would be easier! Bacsinsky will provide tougher opposition tomorrow! Good Luck

Monica_Rules Aug 9th, 2003, 09:44 PM Well Done Karen!
Well look at that my prediciton after 1st round came true:eek:
Dava Aug 9th, 2003, 10:24 PM Karen reminds me of Dokic in thw way she plays. Anyone else see that or is it just me.
lin Aug 9th, 2003, 10:54 PM Go Timea in the final :D
Dava Aug 10th, 2003, 10:50 AM Is pissing it down, do you think they will move the final indoors?
Darran Aug 10th, 2003, 11:50 AM Well done Karen :D
GOod luck in the final
Monica_Rules Aug 10th, 2003, 12:00 PM Only if its still raining at about 2 i'd say.If it stops the they can clear the court.Otherwise they will move it indoors.
Oh and they will put it on court 5 or something so no one can watch veryb well!
Dava Aug 10th, 2003, 02:58 PM T Bacsinsky def. K Patterson 6-0 6-3
Karen
Timea looks something special though, I think she is definatly a player to watch.
Experimentee Aug 10th, 2003, 03:06 PM Timea
Congrats to her! :)
TheBoiledEgg Aug 10th, 2003, 03:22 PM I knew that all along Timea was good enough to win here
playing here she's beaten players she should have.
congrats Timea
Pdm1987 Aug 10th, 2003, 03:52 PM Bad Luck Karen  but Well Done Timea :) she is definately a big talent!
Good Luck in London Karen :D
paul_masterton Aug 10th, 2003, 04:00 PM Karen  but expected
Hopefully she can build on this next week and for the rest of the year :)
Well done to Timea :) Can't really see her struggling too much next week, although she may get tired having to come through qualies again. And poor #1-#8 seeds, all of whom will be dreading getting the unseeded Swiss star in their section.
paul_masterton Aug 10th, 2003, 04:10 PM Doubles Final:
(1)Yvonne Doyle & Karen Nugent (Irl) bt (3)Pemra Ozgen & Ipek Senoglu (Tur) 6-3 6-3
Monica_Rules Aug 10th, 2003, 04:49 PM Karen:sad:
But a great week.It was a good step up for her and now top 500 she hopefully can take this into the 25k's in autumn.
King Aaron Aug 10th, 2003, 05:45 PM Congrats Timea. :D
lin Aug 10th, 2003, 10:05 PM well done Timea :D Congrats :)
bluepastures Aug 11th, 2003, 12:00 AM They didn't move it indoors. The start was delayed until 1pm, by which time the weather had improved considerably.
A very poor venue for photos, due to the wire fences. I only took a few. Not as good quality as normal, I'm afraid! Apart from that, it's a good venue, close to the town centre, and the number of spectators was reasonable considering the earlier rain.
King Aaron Aug 11th, 2003, 05:09 PM Thanks for the photos. :)
Dava Aug 11th, 2003, 05:37 PM They didn't move it indoors. The start was delayed until 1pm, by which time the weather had improved considerably.

You think its close to the town centre? Its on the outskirts of Wrexham! Anyway thanks for those photos, and thank God you did not get me on any! That would have been embarrasing!
paul_masterton Aug 11th, 2003, 06:12 PM omg Timea looks really old in thsoe photos, she's quite erm, 'developed' for a 14 year-old
Hate that 2nd picture, mainly coz Karen is crying in it
Martian KC Aug 11th, 2003, 08:07 PM Congrats to Timea!:D
bluepastures Aug 11th, 2003, 09:13 PM Dava, it's closer to the the town centre than a lot of tennis centres! There's no way you could walk to, say the Bath or Southampton centres, from the nearest train station.
And Paul, don't worry Karen isn't crying :) , she's laughing at something the guy presenting the cheques had said (but I can't remember what)
Monica_Rules Aug 11th, 2003, 10:32 PM Wrexham is a good club.Its a bit of a rippoff though
£9 an hour for the indoor courts!
Dava Aug 11th, 2003, 11:38 PM £9!!!!!!
I was gonna join but now...
