Looks like there were some nail-biters played today.
I guess the MD wildcards went to Gift, Picchitra & Nudnida...
You are right, Gift, Mam & Nudnida got MD wildcards.
Sorry for I could not got Chinese players pic more. But I try tomorrow. You know the first picture of Chinese player I hve taken is Chen-Chen Gao. I know her name because she just won the match and I asked her for the picture. You know what's happen ?? She did not understand English. She is still young and I think she does not travel oversea a lot. I asked her a lot of question but she did not understand. Finally I show her my camera and she say "Yes". After I have taken her picture, then she went back to her group and start talking and looking at me. After that she smile to me every time we met each other. I think she want to talk to me but......
Yao Zhang is cute and so friendly to me. She speak English fluently and I aked her for the picture. I asked her what are you reading. She said she is reading Thailand Tourism Book. Tomorrow I try to ask her to introduce me to her friends and take some picture for you. And I think today I met Yi (former Chinese player) but I'm not sure if she is Yi or not. I will try to ask Yao Zhang tomorrow. I try to take a lot more India player for you too.
jirobkk Aug 2nd, 2003, 06:35 PM Hello nkoth :)
I've taken Isha pic for you too. She is coming with her mum. She aked me to send the picture to her. (She gave me her e-mail address.)
Hey Bradshaw#1
Rebecca Turner is not in qualify draw. But I took Julia Dziedzic(AUS) picture for you. She told me that she came from Perth and we started talking about Hopman Cup. I told her that last year I visited Hopman Cup in Perth. She is a great fighter, she was down 7-5,1-6,6-6 and 1-5 in tie break . She fought back and beated 2-LYOO-SUH Hee-Sun(KOR) 7-5,1-6,7-6(7). She looks ver happy after the match. Well done Julia Dziedzic(AUS).
danker Aug 2nd, 2003, 06:42 PM Hi Jiro,
Thanks for the great pics! :D
It's great to finally put some faces to some names. :)
I really don't mind which players' pics you take tomorrow, but it would also be nice if you took some pics of some players who are in the maindraw. Thank you. :hearts:
I wonder if it is really Jing-Qian Yi?
I did hear that she was attending coach training from the ITF with other Chinese coaches last year. :)
danker Aug 2nd, 2003, 06:44 PM Oh btw, this is the 1st time I've seen a pic of Mam since Pattaya 2001, and she seems to have grown and put on some weight since then. She looks quite different.
danker Aug 2nd, 2003, 06:47 PM OMG one fo their names is Porntip LMAO!

Perhaps in English, but it could have a really cool meaning in Thai. ;)
jirobkk Aug 2nd, 2003, 07:24 PM OMG one fo their names is Porntip LMAO!
Sorry thats just too funny!
Porntip means "Blessings" in Thai. You know Thailand have Miss Universe 1988 named "Porntip Nakhirunkanok".

(I also met and have chat to Suzanna who is coaching Septi, Sandy and Maya) Benjamas is now working for Thai International Airway, she is a air hostress. I asked Yayuk "How many children do you have ?" She smile and said 5 year olds boy.
Zhang told me "that women is Jing-Qian Yi." I had chance talking to her a few words. She told me that now she is coaching young Chinese generation.

Jiro was she serving at 5-4 ?
Hello TBE, :hearts:
Sorry for late answer.
That is Sandy Gumulya's service game. There were so many duece. Sandy just kept the ball in the court. And you know, Vassilissa remind me Lina K's game, she is hitting the ball hard and consistent both FH and BH from side to side. She is a thin girl, I think she would probably win the match (against Sandy) if she try to mixing up some short ball or drop shot. Unfortunately I did not ask her for the picture after the match.
i will be back after shower. :worship:
Harju. Aug 3rd, 2003, 05:51 PM Diana and Liza are in the same side of draw..
Liza had the bad draw ever  Against Chin Wei (50-50).. I would love to see her vs Chia Jung in the QF :worship:

Good luck Chia-Jung, Chin-Wei, I-Ting, Ryoko Fuda and Akgul :)
Today I was watching them (Chia-Jung, I-Ting) Chin-Wei) practicing with a girl (having long hair) which I don't know her. Is she Chin-Wei ? I did not ask them for the pictures because they look so tired after practicing. Anyway I will try tomorrow.
Did Chia-Jung beat Suchanan in Fed Cup in Japan ? I heard that she has a great FH. Hope I have chance to watch her play.
danker Aug 3rd, 2003, 06:53 PM Hi Jiro,

Sure, i will say "Hello" to them from you. i try to mention you from your picture. Hope they remember you. :hearts:
I met both Suzanna and Yayuk. Suzanna on Saturday because she is coaching Maya, Septi, Sandy. Yayuk on Sunday, she is coaching Liza and Diana. Suzanna was sitting near by Gift and Ploy watching Sandy's match. I gave Gift and Ploy's picture that I've been taken last year. Suzanna was there and ask me "May I see your album ?" ( I bring my album there, there are a lot of Tammy, Paradorn and... in my album) She said " May I have Tammy's picture ? " I asked her "Why do you want Tammy's picture ?" And she said she will be meeting Tammy in Canada (Suzanna will be leaving for Canada on Thursday from Jarkata) I ask her to say "Hello" to Tammy in Canada and she said OK and ask me "What is your name ?"
Suzanna admired me a lot, she was watching Sandy's match and she has a short note for writing when Sandy made UE. I think she is a good coach. I also tell her I know Adji. She stop and start thinking, then I mention your real name and also mention your face from the picture you sent me. Unfortunately she said "Sorry I don't know". She is very friendly to me and told me that she has one boy (15 years old), now playing tennis in junior. :hearts:

I saw a couple games at the end of this match. Actually Akgul got her left leg injury before enter this tourney. She was playing injury and could not move well. KIM So-Jung was down 4-6,6-3,4*-5, she played so well on her service game, she moved Akgul around with BH cross court angle because she knew Akgul could not move well. Finally she won that game to take 5-5 in the third. I think she should win the match but Akgul has more experience than her, Akgul did not do anything special at 5-5, she just kept the ball in the court, fianlly she won 7-5 in the third.
Better luck next time Kim.
Well done Akgul.
Eric_tennis Aug 6th, 2003, 06:45 AM Thank you so much for the report, jirobkk :wavey:
Sorry to hear Akgul is playing with injury.
Anyway, I feel sorry for So-jung Kim. Two years ago, she became #1 junior player as a 15 years old and was regarded most promising junior in years in Korea. So Mi-ra Jeon & Yoon-Jeong Cho's team scouted her, then big dispute over her contract,.. now she belongs to Jin-Hee Kim & Kyung-Mi Chang's team. Still big dispute is going,.. it's over 2 years. I don't know it has affected much to her game or not,.. but she hasn't improved much since then. :( Kind of waste of talent. She keeps loosing in the 1st round again & again this year.
Hopefully she can get her old form soon.

jirobkk Aug 8th, 2003, 02:53 AM Jiro, who do you think will win between Robbie & Jan?
Robbie beat Jan on grass a few months ago...
It's difficult to say Danker.
Robbee has been improving her game a lot especially her service. She is hitting the ball harder than Jan both FH and BH and she can hit BH slice. She has all court game comparing to Jan. Jan is more consistent than Robbee. I think it's depend on Robbee, if she can cut down UE, she would win the match. Bad luck I can't go to the site today.
Happy to know Robbee has a good relationship with Chuang, they are always together and they try to learn the language (Thai and Chinese) each other. Chuang's dad is also very nice to Robbee as well.
Good luck to both players including Chuang and Akgul.

Poor Chin-Wei.
It seem like Akgul's left leg injury didn't affected her game because she can run and hit so many winner shot. Actually Ryoko was playing fine. I think Akgul has more experience than her, Ryoko was hitting the ball hard both FH and BH. But Akgul has all court game, she can hit BH slice and win so many points with BH drop shot. It seem like Ryoko lost so easy in the second set but evrey games were so closed, there were so many dueces of every games but Akgul can manage to win on the important points.
Well done Akgul. :hearts:
Better luck next week Ryoko.

jirobkk Aug 8th, 2003, 04:52 AM A battle royal in the offing
Published on Aug 8, 2003
[TENNIS] It will be a battle royal when the country's two top players, Suchanan Viratprasert and Napaporn Tongsalee, square off in an all-Thai semi-final in the US$10,000 (Bt420,000) Body Glove Open at Muang Thong Thani courts today.
Thai No 2 and second-seed Suchanan yesterday whipped South Korea's Choi Young-ja 6-1 6-4, while third-seeded Napaporn stopped the run of Chinese qualifier Ji Chun-mei 6-4 6-2.
In the top half of the draw, hard-hitting third-seed Chuang Chia-jung of Taiwan edged out compatriot Chan Chin-wei 3-6 7-6 (7-3) 7-5 to set up a semi-final duel with Uzbeki fifth-seed Akgul Amanmuradova, who trounced Japan's Ryoko Fuda 6-4 6-1.
Suchanan, ranked 312 in the world, dictated play from the start with her consistent baseline game, while Choi failed to get into the groove and committed a plethora of unforced errors. The Thai built a solid 4-0 lead before allowing the South Korean to hold just once in the fifth game.
Choi, who lost to the Thai 0-6 4-6 last month in Seoul, did not pose much of a threat until she was 2-5 behind. Cutting down on her silly errors, the veteran Korean held the next game and managed a break to get back into the set at 4-5.
However, Choi's resistance did not last long. After saving two match points, she dug her own grave by playing a drop shot that hit the net to end the contest.
"I tried to hit the balls to the spot where she found it hard to attack back.
She seemed to get her momentum back at the end of the second set, but I attacked her second serves and moved to the net to keep the pressure on her,'' said the 21-year-old Suchanan, who has been working with a new coach, Atip Chotiyanwong, for about a month.
Suchanan, who will spearhead the Thai team's challenge in the SEA Games in Vietnam in December, will try to return the favour to countrywoman Napaporn, who has beaten her in their last two meetings.
"Napaporn is playing good tennis right now, which will make it tough. I will try not to put pressure on myself and will think positive,'' she added.
In the doubles semi-finals, Taiwanese Chan and Chuang beat Napaporn and Chatthida Thimjap 1-6 6-3 6-4, while Kim Jin-hee of South Korea and Japan's Ryoko Takemura beat Choi and Cho Eun-hye 6-3 6-1.

As far as I know Jan, Pak Pow, May and Tang-Mo will be playing World University Games at the week of August 25th in Korea. Robbee play 2 events $10K Satellite in Indonesia. Let me confirm again tomorrow if I meet them.
To answer your old question:
1. I met Tang-Mo at Muang Thong Thani and I asked her about her tennis. She said she is studying busy now in the university. She has one younger sister named Prariyawat Rattanakrong. Her sister was playing Junior tournament last month in Bangkok. She did not play according her age and the tournament director often put the name wrong into the draw.
2. Chattida Timjapo also has younger sister named Chatsuda Timjapo. Her sister is also playing Junior.
3. Jan has changed her coach from the American (and Indian guy) to the Thai, Atip Chotiyanwong. The American and Indian coach are in the same group. (I remembered you asked me about the Indian coach when Jan was playing in Indian) And it seem like Jan appreciated and learnt a lot from the two guys. Unfortunately they saparated because of some reason.

lin Aug 8th, 2003, 07:12 PM Thanks for the info. :)
I didn't realise that these 4 attended unversity?
Does that mean that Yeu-Tzuoo & Yen-Hsun will be skipping the US Open? :(
Chia-Jung, Chin-Wei and Yeu-Tzuoo attend to a sports Uni this year, Yen-Hsun got to that Uni about 1 yr ago as he is older...
Yeu-Tzuoo & Yen-Hsun will play US Open qualies at the week of Aug 18th, they can't play main draw even if they qualify...I'm not sure about this though...But playing World University Games is better in terms of money for them...
Hsiao-Han Chao will also play, she beat I-Ting Wang in the final of local University tournament this May. Janet Lee was asked to play too, but she said it will depend on her results at US Open qualies and probably she won't play...

jirobkk Aug 9th, 2003, 08:07 AM Thank you Jiro. :)
If you get a chance to see Robbie, Jan & Chia-Jung again, could you ask them where they are playing next after Nakhon Ratchasima? :D
Robbee play Sri Langa (She knows Indonesia schedule was postponed)
Jan play India.
Chuang play Uzbekistan.
lin Aug 9th, 2003, 08:16 AM well done Chia-Jung :D :bounce: :woohoo: :yeah:
thanks Jiro for the pics :)

Hi Jiro :) Do you mean Chia-Jung will play WTA tournament Uzbekistan at the week of Oct 6th next after the World University Games? I guess it's quite right since I think the Asian Championship will be held in Tashkent after that. :)

Yes, she told me she will be playing Uzbekistan after the World University Games. But I don't know if it's WTA tourney or not. And.. When the Asian Championship start ?

yeah, the Uzbekistan $75K has recently been upgraded to a WTA Tier IV tournament :) .
I just checked the Asian Tennis Federation website to find the schedule, and I'm very surprised the Asian Championship will be held at the week of Sep 22th, the same week of ATP Bangkok and Shanghai tournament   , I hope it will be postponed a bit...
Last year it was held in the middle of October, so I assumed it would be the same this year...
ATF Calandar (http://www.asiantennis.com/pdf/atf_calandar_2003.pdf)
I guess Chia-Jung will probably still play WTA Uzbekistan tournament too as she will have to play qualies so there will only be about 5 days gap between the Asian Championship and the WTA Uzbekistan tournament for her...
Harju. Aug 9th, 2003, 10:49 AM Chia Jung :hearts: :bounce:
danker Aug 9th, 2003, 11:42 AM Thanks Jiro for everything this week. :)
Congrats Chia-Jung. She seems to really dominate these $10Ks... :)
Poor Jan, I hope she didn't cry...
lin, I'd imagine Chia-Jung meant the Asian Championships. Too bad it clashes with Shanghai/Bangkok but it suits for the women since it goes in between Shanghai & Tokyo. :)
Shine On Silver Moon Aug 9th, 2003, 12:07 PM Congrats, Chia Jung! You are a better player today! :wavey:
Suchanan...sorry to know that u lost! Next time better!    :wavey:
Shine On Silver Moon Aug 9th, 2003, 02:07 PM Since you have won several 10Ks until now, it is time to move up to higher level of competition...play 25K and more...10Ks seems too easy for you! Good winning in 10Ks but you did not get fierce challenge...All the best to you, Chuang!!! ;) :wavey:

I think so too, but she still has some trouble to transition her success in $25K or higher event, I think she will just needs to get breakthrough some time :) I hope she will play the China or Australia $25K series at the end of year, but I think she will play Taiwan $10K at Nov 17th for sure, so we will see...
I wish she can finish it this year inside top 300 or maybe top 250 :)
Vut Aug 10th, 2003, 04:13 PM :) Thanks P'Jiro for everything
 Better luck next time "Jan" Suchanan

Wilawan and Orawan told me that Akgul is a nice girl. (I think Salima can confirm.) I think she is nearly 1.9 m tall. Most of people at Muang Thong Thani though she is a man. Does any other players ask the ITF to check her DNA to confirm her status ?   Just joking
salima Aug 11th, 2003, 11:15 AM Thank you for the picture jiro. Akgul is, from what I have heard, a modest, soft spoken girl outside the court. "Taller than Davenport broader than Safin"
She must be fit for fight to the Asian championships, the winner will get a Wild Card to the Aus open, and the doubles winners of Tashkent Open will also get into the MD in Austalia next year.
Akguls parents are from Turkmenistan, but Akgul herself lives in Tashkent
:)
