Anybody knows how Salome Devidze is playing? :rolleyes: I heard that she's very young girl but according to a spectator during the match [Saleme vs Mi-ra Jeon], she played moon ball or high lob all the time from the start. :eek: I think it's very rare case for a junior.

I was wondering it was just her tactic against Mi-ra or her normal style. If it were her tactic against Mi-ra who hates to play moon-baller, I should feel guily for that. I've said that too many times on this board and many other weaknesses of her too. My BIG mistake. :sad:

Anyway, according to the spectator, Mi-ra overcome the moonball tactic from mid of 2nd set,.. and was leading 5-2 in the 3rd,... then got injured,.. called medical staff,.. got her thigh bandaged,.. and tried not to give up the match with the painful leg,.. but lost 5-7. The spectator said many people applauded Mi-ra's courage after the match.
I heard the news this morning,.. and still feel guily and sorry for her.

Salome does throw in alot of moonballs
she's been known to do that.

some have learnt to cope with it others not.

Eggy, does Salome use moonballs as a tactic or is that her usual game? i.e., can she actually play power tennis if she wants?

no one uses moonballs all the time but she does employ them quite a bit to mix it up.
she's not a big power player.

she tried moonballing against Kirilenko a while ago and Masha just stepped in and hit them as drive volleys :lol:
i didn't see this match but Ed Toombs (sure u have heard of him) gave me some details.
Masha killed her 6-3 6-0 in canadian open.

Hmm... clearly needs to learn when and how to use her variety then ;) and yeah, have heard of Ed Toombs.

So how far do you think Salome can go then?

if she makes it on to the main WTA (top 100) then i can say she's done well for herself. Don't see her doing anything too major, she's still 17 so has alot of development left in her.

I'd say somewhere around 150-200 mark.
