I didn't have that problem, but mine did get stuck on 87% for about a week and a half. I downloaded the UD agent again and that seemed to fix it although I lost all of that one task which had taken weeks to get to 87% Maybe you could try that...?

I had problems a little while ago - I had to uninstall and reinstall it twice!! But now, it seems okay to me *crossing fingers* *sdrferkj* ;) but yesterday it switched to "Smallpox Project"? But now, it is back to "Cancer Project"!! Soooo... *crossing fingers again* *sdflkiui* stop typing with the crossed fingers pleeease!! ;) I hope it stays okay here... :)

I hope your problems will be over soon, too, geoepee!! :wavey:

Fiona, some of the device profiles got reset by them. Try logging in and go into 'My device manager' and choose 'Profiles.' Under the 'Profile Name,' select the profile your device is using, and in there you probably have both, cancer and smallbox projects checked. Just uncheck the smallbox project, save the changes, and it shouldn't switch to that any more. That's what I had to do. :)

What is your agent version? It should be 3.0 (2814).

You can check when you open the United Device thingy and go to Preferences :) .

Marri, here's something which may or may not help you:
http://forum.ud.com/ubbcgi/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic;f=6;t=007541

Couple quotes from that forum/thread:
When you turn off your computer before it gets past the first Ligandfit, it has to start over from the begining, including recalculating the energy grid.

When you turn your computer back on, the UD Agent starts again, but it starts from the last save point.

The UD Agent only saves progress when the LigandFit task has completed the processing of a ligand.

In the beginning, when the UD Agent starts processing the first ligand, the UD Agent does not save after the completion of the energy grid. The UD Agent only saves when the LigandFit task has completed the first ligand.

If you turn off your computer after the first ligand has been processed, but before processing of the second ligand has completed, when you restart the UD Agent, processing starts from the completion of the first ligand and the UD Agent processes the second ligand as if it had never seen it before.

The amount of Task CPU Time lost will depend on the speed of your processor and the way you use your computer. As a comparison, my trusty wusty AMD Athlon 900MHz computer takes about 1.5 hours to process each ligand. If I shut off my computer, when I turn my computer back on again, it will take about 10 minutes to recalculate the energy grid then another 1.5 hours to process the next ligand.

Hope you get it solved! :)

Marri, nope, firewall shouldn't make your pc run slower. If after installing the UD agent, you were able to connect to UD server and download your first task, which I assume you were, you shouldn't have to worry about the firewall configurations. :)

As far as overall percentage goes, it depends on few things. You may have had some other processes/applications using up cpu power at the time you downloaded the first task, or the network connection wasn't fast enough at that moment etc. And, you can always allocate more storage if that’s low and you have enough empty hard drive space. Basically, you can look at the Processor, Memory, Storage and Network to find out which one contributed most to your low overall percentage.

However, the low overall percentage of the UD agent does not mean that you computer is slow or slower than before. That percentage is determined during the download of a new task, and it only corresponds to the state of your pc at that very moment. So, if your pc was busy doing something else while downloading the task, your percentage will be lower than normal.

UD agent only uses the spare cpu resources, so if you are not doing anything on your pc at some point, it will probably use more than 90% of your cpu power. If you have many apps running at the same time, the agent will use the resources that are left over from those other apps. If the other apps use close to 100% of the resources, there won't be much left over for UD agent to use until you close some apps.

So, I would say, leave your pc on overnight (if you don’t do that anyways) and let the UD agent run for a while, and see in the morning if there has been any progress at all. Plus, maybe the first task is just a really big one and takes a while. ;)

Wow, that was long and confusing one. Hope it helps! :)

wow kuilli - thanks again! :)

lol but err yeah.. my comp is stil *ill* though... i used to be able to leave it on for ages.. but when i do that now, after 2h or something, it kinda dies.. lol. i got an energy saving monitor so it shuts off after 15mins without doing anything. While the harddrive.. i dunno.. it just dies. lol. my brotehr will get me a new harddrive after he's back from the mounatins... so maybe it will be better :)

Poor comp, still ill :(

You can try to set 'Turn off hard disk' to 'Never' if it doesn't turn back on. I'm not sure what OS you're using, but I think that should be pretty standard in all the latest ones. Monitor shut off shouldn't make any difference though.

So, right click on anywhere on the desktop and choose Properties. Select Screen Saver tab in the Display Properties dialog box. At the bottom you should see a Monitor Power thing with a Power button. Click on Power button, and another dialog box opens. There should be options for 'Turn off monitor', 'Turn off hard disk' and 'System standby'. I have hard disk and system standby options set to 'Never.' You could try that and see if you are still having problems with your hard drive shutting down. :)

Well, this is all in English, so you my need to figure out the Norwegian ones if your OS is in Norwegian. :p ;)

What I have noticed is that sometimes it stops with the cancer research and moves to doing something else, smallpox right now... is this a problem I have to fix somehow or is this a problem of the group?
