View Full Version : What is "reputation"?

Reputation is a new feature that allows other members to reward you when you make a special contribution or a useful post to the WTAworld community. In contrast, if you're rude or set out to be deliberately abusive members can mark that down against your name.

Your reputation is also built up by how long you've been a member, the amount of posts you make, and a few other hidden factors like kissing up to adminstrators and moderators for example. :)

How does it work? Where I can see it?

SteveG posted this excellent explanation:

- to view your reputation when you are browsing posts, you just need to move your mouse over the green dot. A comment will indicate where you stand (distinguished road, almost famous...).

- to view the number of points you have and the comments that you have received, go to your user CP. You can also review from there to which of your posts these comments refer.

- to give some reputation (good / bad) to someone (should be based on someone's post), click on the http://imgsrv2.tennisuniverse.com/wtaworld/images/buttons/blue/reputation.gif (http://wtaworld.com/reputation.php?p=1481979) icon below the name of the member to whom you want to give points.

What to do in case of spam/abuse via a reputation comment?

Do not start threads naming posters in the public forum as there have been occasions when one side does not represent the entire story accurately.

Any use of the reputation system to leave abusive comments that you consider offensive or spam can be reported to supermods or admins by reporting one of the offending poster's posts or, if they have no posts, by sending a PM to a supermod or admin.

There is nothing to click on in user CP if you want to check your "reputation" score. If you want to check which of your posts got you a reputation, you have to click on the hyperlink under "thread"

1) How come when you give someone some rep points, you can only do so once?
2) How come some of us have have our rep point thingy's turned off?

omg!!!!

The board had to reopen till I found out how that reputation thing actually works!!!

Well thanks to all the kind ppl for giving them to me. Had no clue there were quite that many!! Just wished I found out earlier as ont the user cp (I've been there only to get rid of the announcing e-mails I got and that's how I found out...) are only listed the last 5 ones or so... (hmmm there isn't by any chance a way to find out about all the others is there??)

And please forgive me for not having given any to anyone. I just wasn't aware of that function....

...but to be honest please don't expect any ;) I'm pretty lazy when it comes to thise kind of things which doesn't mean you wouldn't deserve them. Some of you certainly do!!

And thanks again for giving me the points. Well you know who you are as for my part I only know the last 5 :(

members who have only a few posts, or haven't been here for long give out grey dots, it means neutral, and it won't give you extra points (nor will it take away points ;))

Is "infamous" bad?

I like the idea of being able to report rude or vulgar posts. But, if someone just disagrees with you, it is kind of annoying to have that be the basis for a bad reputation. It puts you on the same level as an abusive poster. If they disagree, they should post a response stating why and have a meaningful discussion. I am new (only 20+ posts), but just my two cents.

Hey I Just a BLACK REPUTATION?

I mean it haves a Black dot

What does it means?

James

It means this poster is pretty new or does not have sufficient power yet. The rep turns out grey in that case.
