View Full Version : Question for Jo Moore
spiceboy Feb 14th, 2003, 09:16 PM Hi Jo!!!
Having noticed you've played lately in the US Challengers I wonder why you didn't feel like going to Memphis where you could have been in the qualifying and certainly win a couple of matches.
Take care and thanx for posting here. Much appreciated your comments "on the road" :)
paul_masterton Feb 14th, 2003, 09:48 PM obviosuly i cant answer for ehr but she is playing in the main draw of the us 25k this week.
Perhaps she didn't think she'd make the cut-off?
matthias Feb 15th, 2003, 09:54 AM it is always hard to predict the cut-off´s for tournaments, it would have been a risk for her to move to memphis. because there was no garantee for her to play.
spiceboy Feb 15th, 2003, 02:35 PM Well, didn't she have an injury ranking of #293 or something like that? Don't tell me anybody expected such a strong draw for qualifying this busy week...
King Aaron Feb 15th, 2003, 04:05 PM i think there's no harm in commiting to it first. since she's in the US, she can go there ones she knows she's in the qualy draw
that's what I think, please do enlighten us Jo :)
jomo Feb 15th, 2003, 05:13 PM Thanks for your question.:)
There are a couple of reasons as to why I didnt play in Memphis. First in being, money$$$. There is a huge entry fee, $150 for playing in WTA events now, if you are a non memeber. Also, it would cost more because you would have to stay in a hotel, as there would not be any housing.
I am also in the Main Draw for Columbus, so that will also be a good oppurtunity for me. I actually just saw the draw for Memphis and I know I could have done well, as it looks as if this will be the weakest WTA tournament of the year.
I have to be very selective as to what tournaments I play this year, as I am struggling for travel money. Before I was injured I was doing OK, covering my expenses easily, but then I didnt play for about 9 months and that does not help financially. I am going to Columbus because my boyfriends family lives there, so I stay with them and I also got a free ticket from another family I stay with, whom are kind enough to send me their Southwest tickets that they do not use.
Thanks for your questions and any more that you have I would be happy to ask, also remeber that I do have a question and answer page on www.tennis-ontheline.com. I will also be doing a diary for them at various time throughout the year.
spiceboy Feb 15th, 2003, 05:21 PM Thanx for the answer Jo. Good luck in Columbus!!!
paul_masterton Feb 15th, 2003, 05:52 PM Thanks Jo.
It's always a shame when people are forced to compensate due to lack of money.
Hopefully in a couple of year's you'll be earning so much you can play where you want! :D
matthias Feb 15th, 2003, 06:37 PM thanks for answering
and good luck in columbus :wavey:

VSFan1 aka Joshua L. Feb 16th, 2003, 04:19 AM as always Jo, you are so kind :)
good luck in Columbus!
CoryAnnAvants#1 Feb 16th, 2003, 04:38 AM Thanks Jo! Glad to hear you got into the main draw in Columbus and it's better financially. I'm still a little confused though. Even with the big entry fee and hotels, wouldn't the 1st round qualifying prize money be enough to counterbalance the expenses? Presumably you'd get past the first couple of rounds or even qualify with the draw they have in Memphis as well, which would probably cover a few more tourneys as well. Good luck in Columbus!
King Aaron Feb 16th, 2003, 03:12 PM Thanks Jo. :)
Best of luck to you in Columbus and remember we're all behind you!
Maxine Feb 16th, 2003, 04:39 PM Good Luck Jo!:)
