You could hardly expect Anne to beat Sofia! Anne actually played very well, especially in the second set. Sofia looks a class above anyone in the field, even Barabanschikova.
However, I was very disappointed with Jane. I did expect Douchevina to win. However it was disappointing to see Jane almost seem to give up towards the end of the 2nd set.
I think the best quarter tomorrow (which I'm not attending) will be Douchevina V Sprem, and Sprem could take a tough 3 set match.

Also, I wasn't very impressed with the venue (the David Lloyd club about 3 miles from the city centre). The lighting seemed to be the worst of any of the indoor venues that I've been to. In fact, I'm surprised that players haven't complained! Redbridge next week is a much better venue, both in terms of the viewing and the general level of facilities.

i know douchevina hasn't played much seniors and she might still be getting use to it but i don't know if sofia is a class above douchevina. and if olga plays the way she did in sydney then i'm pretty sure sofia isn't a class above her either but they may not be playing their best and i'm not watching them so i'll take your word for it.

So two British teams go through to the next round of the doubles, something for me to look out for tomorrow, although it's a pity both Anne and Jane lost in singles today.

Gowza, about Douchevina, it is kind of hard for me to say how well she was playing, since O'Donoghue was playing very poorly.
