No idea danker. I did see her at the Bombay challenger, but she was too far away, I didn't speak to her.
However, it's quite regular for people of her age to be in college, since here college is looked upon as a necessity rather than a choice. So I presume she is.

Hi Jay,

Yes, :) I check your site first as you usually have the draws for the Indian events pretty quickly. I finally (some time early last year) realised that you post the results first and do not neccesarily update your comments on the news page until later.

So all the Indian girls save for Samrita are out.

The Akgul-Verena-Marie match should be interesting. Isn't Eva Austrian. I hope Samrita manages to beat the 16 year old Elena.

But hey now with Sania not playing and most of the Indian girls out.

Verena-Marie :bounce:
Ivanna :bounce:
and of course
Samrita :bounce: :bounce: . Please go on a run like last year at Mumbai.

Hey Matthais is it Varana or Verena

From a news agency article:

Viratprasert Suchanan of Thailand registered an emphatic 6-2 6-2 win over Germany's Marie Varana Bellar to win the singles title of the Madras Gymkhana International Tennis Federation's circuit tennis championship here this evening.
Playing before an almost packed centre court stadium, the Thai girl, seeded second here, started off well leading 3-1. She then broke Bellar in successive games to clinch the first set with ease.
Serving and moving well, Suchanan led 5-1 in the second with two breaks in the 2nd and 4th games. Though she dropped the seventh game while serving for the match, she managed to break back in the eighth for the set and the match.
Suchanan collected a glittering trophy and a cash prize of USD 1600 for her victory.

Congrats to Suchanan for winning the single title.

It seemed like Thai players were doing well in India. Paradorn won ATP title in January. Tammy won last week's Indian Open and now Suchanan won $10K Chennai single title.

for ranking analysis.

To answer your question :
Jan's coach is the American Scott Randall. He started working with Suchanan since last year Volvo Women Open 2002.

Yes. Well the improvement is showing. She almost beat Cervanova in the match at Pattaya.
Keep going up up and up Suchie! :D

Yes V.Melb,
Your Suchie almost beat Cervanova in last year Pattaya. But she got nervous when she had so many chances. She looked so upset after the match because she wasted so many chances. I think the expensive lesson was learn.

Jiro, that article above says this:

"A consistent backcourt player, Suchanan has gone up the rankings in the last three months under the guidance of coach Zubin Engineer, a 34-year-old Indian residing in Thailand. "

That is what prompted my comment. I didn't know about this coach. So, is it Scott Randall or Zubin Engineer?
