i like her very much! she's from nordhorn, a small village near my hometown in the north of germany, and all the people there know her and are proud of her!
i think she's the biggest german talent since years (her older brother bastian is also playing) and hopefully she makes a good jump from the juniors to the wta-tour this year.
last week she won her second itf-title in hull (after saulgau '02) but climbed only 4 spots in the ranking (does anybody know why??? :confused:). i hope ANNA-LENA will do well this season and the next years! she has the play and the charisma to become "a big one"!

I think you're right Pan, this year should be a very big one for Anna-Lena. I'll be honest, the current top ranked Germans like Barna aren't really anything special, and I can't see any of them making, say, top 20. I think Anna-Lena's probably got more natural talent than any of those other German players

well, skarlett had many injury problems and last year in mexico she nerally died - she had an emergancy operation and that's why she didn't play quelies then.

btw: anna-lena will enter top 200 this year. and that's for sure. hope she stays injury free and plays more 25ks and 50ks from now on.

yeah, you're right, there are a lot of more names like christian, klösel, kovacic, plivelitsch who are in MARLENEs age and they were hyped as the new STEFFIS in the early 90s... and later: schmidle, henke, basu...
i don't know why, but i have another feeling for ANNA-LENA. she isn't that famous in germany so far, like buric and werner were. and her results in juniors and now on the challengers are more constant. and i know her a little bit. she's a tough and strong person, who loves this sport. and her powerfull play (big service) is what she have to play on the tour. i don't know why, but i believe in her...

We even had stuff about team Steffi here... wasn't Sarah Raab part of that? SHe hasn't done much lately!

Anna-Lena was playing this week at the 10k in Tipton, she reached the quarter finals before losing to qualifier Matea Mezak from Croatia 7-6(5),1-6,6-3. But it has been a very good couple of weeks for her. Best of luck for the rest of the season.
