View Full Version : does it matter what operating system u use? toreador Dec 26th, 2002, 09:40 PM will the tasks finish faster if i use windows xp/windows 2000 (maybe because the performance is much better) instead of windows me/98 etc. ? Martian Martin Dec 27th, 2002, 12:08 AM Sophie, I don't think it makes a huge difference in which version of windows you use, I think what makes a difference is how big your hard drive is and also how fast your processor is. That's what speeds up all the tasks. Hope this helps you! :) toreador Dec 27th, 2002, 08:17 PM thanks per4ever Dec 28th, 2002, 12:08 AM as a matter of fact it does make some differences depending on what kind of computer you work. Win2000/XP systems have better multitasking then 98/me. I don't know the exact details about me or 98, but I doubt they allow multiprocessors (more then one CPU) which 2000/XP supports. 2000/XP is just more professional and stabile then the other two..and their procesmanagement will be better.. so the work will be done faster :) toreador Dec 28th, 2002, 08:16 PM well i installed united devices in xp... now i have another problem...in the storage i put 9.77GB and the task after 3 hours is still on 0%...shouldn't it be faster?I know a few things about comps but i know nothing about united devices so maybe u can help me? Scott Storm Dec 29th, 2002, 01:19 AM With the current size of the tasks 3hrs is nothing to worry about, oh and on a side note that is an excellent signature. toreador Dec 29th, 2002, 10:33 PM thanks a lot :-) |
