A big week is coming up for me with 10 ITF events. But all least i'm off tomorrow(Thanksgiving):) Long time since the last Melanie Clayton's appearance in a tournament. And good luck to Ilke :D DutchieGirl Oct 14th, 2002, 05:02 AM lol I was about to post it, so here we go: Quallies draw(aus unless stated otherwise): 1st r 1-Sewell bye Burns beat Taylor 6-1 6-1 Calderwood beat Williams 6-2 6-3 Dziedzic beat Alford 6-2 6-1 Dellacqua beat Willman 6-1 6-4 Mackey beat Wallace 6-2 6-1 Rowe beat Baker 6-3 6-3 6-Seitenbecher (ger) beat Meise (ger) 6-2 6-1 2-Horiatopoulous bye Summerside beat Kilsdonk (ned) 6-1 6-1  Clayton beat Jakovljevic 6-3 6-2 Arnott beat Welford 6-1 6-7 6-1 Ivanov beat Harkness 6-1 6-0 Dvornikova (rus) beat Sorbello 6-2 6-3 Tamaela (ned) beat Adamczak 7-6 6-2  5-Roberts beat Kyproes 6-3 6-1 3-Gers (nzl) bye Milosevic (yug) beat Hedges 6-1 6-0 Vorobieva (rus) beat Jovanovic 7-5 7-6 Gallios beat McKee 7-6 6-2 Kersten beat Morgan 6-1 6-3 Suer (ger) beat Johnson 6-3 6-2 Nooni (swe) beat Cheung 6-4 6-0 8-O'Connor (nzl) beat Kasal 6-4 6-1 4-Kalvari (usa) bear Carr 6-1 6-0 Stone beat Antonic 6-0 6-1 Dvornikova (rus) beat Rowe 6-2 6-2 Verhulsdonk (ned) beat Kriz w/o :) Golds beat Keniff 7-5 6-1 Tanevska beat Bobusic 3-6 7-6 7-5 Simic (yug) beat Kolb (ger) 4-6 6-0 6-3 7- Ejeson (swe) beat Wojeiechowski w/o 2nd r Burns beat 1-Sewell 7-5 6-3 Dziedzic beat Calderwood 6-4 6-4 Dellacqua beat Macket 6-2 6-4 6-Seitenbecher (ger) beat Rowe 6-4 6-2 2-Horiatopoulous beat Summerside 6-2 6-4 Clayton beat Arnott 7-6 5-7 6-0 Ivanov beat Dvornikova (rus) 6-0 6-0 Roberts beat Tamaela 7-6 6-7 6-3  3-Gers (nzl) beat Milosevic (yug) 6-4 7-6 Vorobieva (rus) beat Gallios 6-1 6-3 Suer (ger) beat Kersten 6-4 6-3 Nooni (swe) beat 8-O'Connor (nzl) 7-5 6-3 Kalvaria beat Stone 6-1 6-2 Dvornikova beat Verhulsdonk 6-1 6-0  Golds vs Tanevska Simic (yug) vs 7-Ejeson (swe) ozfan44 Oct 14th, 2002, 05:57 AM go julia dzeidic and casey dellacqua bad luck bojana bobusic and nicky sewell TS Oct 14th, 2002, 07:26 AM Thanks sarah for posting :) You saved me the hassle ;) 3rd Round Qualifying : Dziedzic def Burns 6-3 6-3 Dellacqua def 6)Seitenbecher 7-5 6-1 :) 2)Horiatopoulos def Clayton 6-1 6-2 :D 5)Roberts def Ivanov 7-5 1-6 7-6(7)   3)Gers def Vorobieva 6-3 6-2 Nooni def Suer 6-2 6-2 4)Kalvaria def Dvornikova 6-1 6-0 7)Ejeson def Tanevska 6-3 6-0 :( Christina :D Darya, dammit so close!!! Evie has a tricky first round, if she can get past that she should make semi's comfortably to take on most likely Karyshkova, Scheepers or Stewart. Just my two cents ;) AlexSydney Oct 14th, 2002, 08:51 AM I hope Rachel beat Leanne!! :fiery: King Aaron Oct 14th, 2002, 10:27 AM Hanna :D Helena :D :o Evie really needs confidence, that's why she's playing here. I'm a tad tipsy, had a few too many gin and tonics, here my qualifying overview! Dont laugh!!!!!!! WOW Talk about a COMEBACK Event!!!!! BIG WELCOME BACK TO NADIA JOHNSTON MELANIE CLAYTON MONIQUE ADAMZCAK A BIG YAY to the 3 Aussies, about time they returned to action!!! Especially since Melanie and Monique are some of our best juniors from a couple of years ago! Nadia, just a fat hoe, but she can whack the ball and her best is yet to come! All top 400 players from a year or so ago that have fought back from quite nasty injuries. Melanie's been out of action for 2 years with back spasms and soreness Monique's had shoulder problems Nadia I'm not so sure, probably back injury or shoulder injury, she's quite a big girl, but they were all at their peak rankings when they got injured. Great to see Melanie too storming through qualies until the last round, solid effort. Shame Monique and Nadia didnt have easier first rounds, made it extra tough for them. Melanie and Nadia are also playing doubles qualies together, hope they can qualify hope they beat those Dvornikova sluts hehe, sorry TBE, I know you wont be offended, hehe :p! Good to see Casey Dellacqua and Asha Burns both pic up quality points in Qualifying, fantastic wins for them, should give their low rankings a kick in the right direction. Deanna toughed it out to qualify, two really tough 3 setters, this 21 year old has a future in my opinion! Impressive run from WA Girl Julia Dziedzic (sounds Australian to me! SARCASM), and also Christina Horiatopolous, and NZ's Ilke Gers. 4 Aussie Qualifiers and 1 NZ isn't too bad, would have liked to see 8 aussies though! tough draw for Sarah Stone, anywhere else in the draw and she probably would have got through as she was about the best Aussie in qualies. Saw her practicising last week and her friend, Karen Butler was asking her whether she was a dyke!!! LOL, Also great fighting from Darya Ivanov, easy first two rounds but gave it all to Deanna, just falling short, and also 15yo Tanevska deserves a mention too, I know SM while be happy with her performance!!! Now onto Main Draw Very interesting draw! Iva's N#1 Fan, as if Leanne Baker will be a threat to McQuillan, what drugs are you on??? If Kristin Van Elden can beat her in str8 sets even the Pope can! McQuillan will have no troubles, and McShea although playing ok the last few events should still be a cakewalk! Amanda Grahame though should take her to the toilets! hehehe I mean cleaners, whatever, I'm sure they are both lesbians or bi! LOL Dont mind me I'm drunk, anyways moving on, Cindy "Brady" Watson, what a great year she has had, what, won a total of 8 matches I think, yeah fuckin fantastic yet finds herself in the top 140 somehow after beating a Moroccan yet to reach puberty! Not gonna be ranked so high for long deary! I dont think she has the best draw, Dittmann with her, "Why cant I serve like Monica," serve should be enough to push her to 3 sets, its anyones guess then who wins! Think Cindy is a little powerless with her anorexic 'i'm into yoga' frame, could easily mistake her for a powerless asian! I'm being a bitch! hehe, but yeah I expect all aussies in quarter finals except the 3rd section which is a tough section of the draw for the aussies. I expect Oxana, great name not, to creep into the quarters and might well beat Bryanne So yeah Watson vs Dittmann Grahame vs McQuillan Karyshkova vs Stewart Dominikovic vs Anyones guess but guaranteed Aussie! Off the qualifiers Kalvaria is easily the most dangerous and could do ok here!! For the title, Tough call, winner will probably come from the top half. Wait until the quarters to let you know :P FORGOT to say thanks to Inky and Iva Fans for posting results and draws!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! But u lazy bitches excluded the doubles! Is Shannon Golds, Shannon Peters married by the way??? And where are Emily Hewson and Jana Cabak? Lazy girls!! here is the Doubles Qualifying Draw! Dont forget that the best performed Australian in the next 3 weeks of Queensland challengers gets a WC into the Open. And then in the 3 South Australian challengers next month its the same deal. Dont forget she has dropped to 140 in the rankings so she needs that WC... lol@Ausboy and his Watson 'yoga' comments...I still am scratching my head as to how Cindy is ranked ahead of Evie  :o Cindy is obviously ranked so high because of her Aus Open run and doing well in the Aussie challengers....she can barely win matches overseas (if you count that win in Casablanca over vastly inexperienced Meryem Haddad!)...come next January she may find herself way outside 200. Aloysius Oct 14th, 2002, 04:28 PM Nicole Sewell is having a few hiccups lately. A fortnight ago, she lost in the first round of the Masters State Champs in WA to Tarryn Ebden. Who!? It was a tough match, but for a girl like Nicole, ranked 393 in the world, Ebden should've been a cakewalk, not a three-set loss. Nicole will be playing State League in Perth over the Summer. Bojana Bobusic is good. She will only get better with age. She's only 14. The other Perth girl to look out for, but who isn't entered here, is Dijana Srbinoska. Bobusic beat Srbinoska in the final of the State Champs a fortnight ago. Incidentally, Bojana's brother, Strahinja, won the Men's Open event. Also watch out for Goran Marijan. Julia Dziedzic is surprising me. She has won two small tournaments in Perth over the last month and a half, and withdrew injured from the last. She trains at WAIS though and was expected to win those tiny events. Still, stunned that she's making great in-roads on the ITF circuit. Good on her. The most in-form of the Perth girls. Interesting to note that she uses a gargantuan-sized racquet. The head is huge. Casey Dellacqua is possibly Perth's best international female player right now. She will be better than Nicole Sewell eventually I think. She has certainly shown to be going places. I'd love to see a showdown with Casey against Bojana, Dijana, Nicole, Julia and Marinela. Throw in Angela Stockdale and 16-year-old Wendy Kong, and you've got yourself a draw. Marinela, bad luck, mate. Love and one to Sarah Stone. Ouch! Let's get the next one. Go Maz! Break a leg in doubles. Asha seems to be showing some okay form. For someone so small in stature and experience she did well. Nathalie plays a similar gritty game to Olivia Luckasewizc...i actually saw them play each other before and from a technical viewpoint nothing really separated them! only problem with nat is she takes it to serious and gets a bit upset at times...but she was 14 when i saw her and which 14 y.o doesnt!!! good stuff :) esp. fighting to win 1r AUSBOY Oct 15th, 2002, 03:47 AM Ozfan44, i wasnt meaning to offend, Nadia is a great player, as I said she hasnt reached her potential or peak yet in my opinion. There still is room for improvement on the athleticism side as is the case with Summerside, Kriz and a few other aussies!! All slandering was meant to be comical, I'm a die hard aussie fan! And there is a final round of Qualifying to go, i was getting confused! Two aussies guaranteed, and hopefully a NZ too! ozfan44 Oct 15th, 2002, 04:35 AM thats cool ausboy i know you were only joking thanks for the gr8 info ad updates i would be lost without your scores updates and info keep up the good work DutchieGirl Oct 15th, 2002, 05:47 AM Good luck Marielle, Nicole, Nathalie, Chani, Leslie! :bounce: ozfan44 Oct 15th, 2002, 06:09 AM DOUBLES QUALIFYING DRAW! round 1 BUTKIEWICZ LESLIE BEL/KILSDONK KIM NED (1) d IVANOV DARYA AUS/WELFORD TIFFANY AUS 76(4) 61 KOLB ANNETTE GER/SIMIC MARTA YUG d KERSTEN NATASHA AUS/VOROBIEVA JULIA AUS 64 62 MILOSEVIC DINA YUG/NOONI HANNA SWE d CALDERWOOD BREE AUS/O'CONNOR TRACEY AUS 62 63 DELLACQUA CASEY AUS/SZILI ADRIANNA AUS d2- CHEUNG LAUREN AUS/GERS ILKE NZL 75 75 common casey and adriana 3-BAKER GABRIELLE AUS/ROBERTS DEANNA AUS d GOLDS SHANNON AUS/WILLMAN JEAN AUS 76(5) 63 ANTONIC MARINELA AUS/BURNS ASHA AUS d KYPREOS DANIELLE AUS/WELFORD JULIANNE AUS 62 61 CLAYTON MELANIE AUS/JOHNSTON NADIA AUS d DVORNIKOVA ALENA RUS/DVORNIKOVA ANASTASIA RUS 76(4) 16 10.8 4- ALFORD CHRISTINE AUS/PAVLOVA BILIANA BEL d MCKEE HOLLY AUS/MORGAN MARINET AUS dont know score ozfan44 Oct 15th, 2002, 06:13 AM casey and adriana won their r2 match 75 75 common !!!!!!!!!!!! ozfan44 Oct 15th, 2002, 06:15 AM more r2 qd results clayton johnston won 63 75 d 4-alford-pavlova baker roberts won 61 60 d antonic-burns casey-adriana d milosevic-nooni 75 75 AUSBOY Oct 15th, 2002, 07:18 AM Coolies, Johnston and Clayton did beat those Russian ermm ..... heheheh :p louloubelle Oct 15th, 2002, 08:21 AM Love to see Szili and Melissa Dowse make an impression here. Hopefully if Szili plays Oxana, it may show where she's at. I noticed Dowse played some Melbourne pennant matchs a few weeks back. The one result I saw she won 60 60. Hopefully it was a decent workout!!! as I haven't noticed her in any tournaments for ages. Glad to see Melanie Clayton back in the quallies. I saw her about 3 years back at the Aus Open quals and was impressed with her ability to smack winners with her loose groundshots. She tended to spray them a bit, but I thought she had talent. Adamczak gave deLone a good run that day too, so hopefully she can bounce back also. Can anyone give me any info on the playing styles of Horiatopoulos and Breadmore??? They've had some decent results overseas. Dellacqua was able to beat Stosur sometime last year??? and is doing well in quallies. Any wraps on her??? The Pennant season has been over for months, finished back in August! Dowse certainly wasnt involved in any of the finals. Is it that you just got your time frames confused? Also Dowse is not from Victoria so its unlikely she would have played. I know occasionally a club will fly a big name in, but not often. Do you remember who she beat or anymore details? I suspect though that if you heard this second hand that your friend was lying! Yes, she wasn't in the finals because I checked those scores to see if she was there and she wasn't. I saw the Dowse result in the Hearld Sun.... ('Is it the truth or did you read it in the Hearld Sun'). Don't have too much interest in that comp so I can't remember anymore details or even which team she played with! I was just suprised to see her name. I scout the scores to see if Renee Reid is still playing!!! I still hoping for a WTA comeback and a repeat of a match similar to that against Pitowski at NSW Opne. She just keeps improving. Well done Evie, the first match is always the toughest but she handled it very well. AUSBOY Oct 16th, 2002, 08:26 AM Hehehehe Louloubelle, you read it in the Herald Sun, oh that figures then! Yes I remember the match with Renee Reid, she took that first set 6-4 before her serve crumbled and she lost 4-6 6-1 6-1, was an exciting match though WOW another good day for the Aussies Very impressive wins for Casey Dellacqua and Christina Horiatopolous! Lisa McShea got a bit lucky, but good on her, she got revenge. Evie, a confidence earning victory there. Grahame struggled but got through, good to see. Cindy in straight sets, still Jaslyn got 6 games off her, not too bad. Poor Lauren, kinda happy for Manisha, but still would have liked Lauren to have got the points more. Van Elden, no comment, never expected Nooni to qualify let alone cakewalk this one. I think Van Elden needs a new coach/sports psychologist, she seems to have gone stale, dunno if she's lost enthusiasm but cant see any negatives in trying someone new! I mean if its good enough for Ian Thorpe its good enough for her to try, and yes I know all of that takes money but she hasnt made any ground over the last 2 years and she definitely has the potential and talent to be ranked top 200! Hope she can continue to stick through these lean times even if she has to do a Mireille and battle it out for another 6 years before cracking the top 200. I know her dream is to play in a Grand Slam main draw and with perserverance it will happen, its just a matter of time! Cant believe this, only one aussie in the semi! At least I was right, I predicted earlier that Grahame would take out McQuillan. Its about time Amanda stood up and won one of these. For crying out loud if she can reach the semi finals of a WTA Tier V event she sure as hell can win a $25K! Good effort by Casey, she has played a lot of matches this week. Disappointing for Beti, she should definitely have won that, Nooni must be exhausted it her 8th match in 5 days! Bryanne, same old story, struggles to close out any match. Oh well please Amanda at least get to the final, I wanna see your ranking go up! Doubles results were better for Aussies today Stone/Stosur outlast opponents. Sarah Stone has won 6 titles this season, a fair effort! Lucky Losers Dellacqua and Szili take full advantage The top 4 aussies in singles here also all cruise in doubles TS Oct 18th, 2002, 09:18 AM Bad results :( But well done Amanda :D Now go and win it!!!!!!! Beti   :fiery: This Hanna girl is beating up on all my faves, lol! She must be stopped! A heartbreaking loss for poor Beti, but Im sure she'll bounce back next week if she get a good draw. Bryanne...pfff....well if its any consolation I expected her to lose this match, but as you said she loses a tight match once again :( The script once again goes according to plan with her, golden opportunity to win a $25K gone. Go Chanelle for the final. Casey  Great effort from the kid anyway. lol, so much for my predictions. Anyway, good luck Amanda!!! I know you can do it! She then played two events, lost to Bratchikova and Myriam Casanova. Then traveled to England and won the LTA International Jr Tournament in Bisham Abbey. Unfortunately she got injured in the final... She then played events between april-may without any success and with some retirings and w.o.'s. Then she finally came back in August and lost her 2 matches. She played 2 weeks ago a $10,000 and did Sf. She's 18 years old and her highest Jr Rank has been 32. Congrats to the winners DutchieGirl Oct 20th, 2002, 12:12 PM ooh yeah! Well done Chani and Nathalie/Nicole! :D Hey Simon, an Aussie won in the doubles final, and an Aussie got to the final in singles, that's not so bad! SM Oct 20th, 2002, 02:21 PM he was talking about them collectively, not two people sarah ;)...and yeah they did not perform as well as they shouldve. Esp Beti and Evie :( but its only the first of many challengers so i hope they pick it up. TS Oct 20th, 2002, 03:37 PM With the exception of Nicole Pratt and the emerging talents of *some* youngsters its been a crap year all round :( AUSBOY Oct 20th, 2002, 04:32 PM I disagree that its been a crap year for Aussies. Its been disappointing in that some players had a good month and played crap the rest of the year, e/g Watson, grahame etc but if u look at the year as a whole and the ranking gain made you will see that a lot of aussies have done well! Pratt battling a heel problem most of the year got to a career high at 35, but injury has caused her ranking to drop to almost where it started in January. Yes Molik, McQuillan and Evie have had a shocking year! I still thought Evie got a few lucky draws last year, French Open certainly saved her year from being totally disastrous. Watson, Grahame and Wheeler in my opinion have had a much better year. Obviously Watson did extremely well in all Australian events she entered her ranking up 70 places, Grahame did well in Canberra, her ranking has risen 100 places this year after Mackay result gets included to almost a career high around 170. Wheeler up at least 20 places, not a huge rise, but she won her first grand slam match and cracked top 100 in doubles. In doubles Barclay, Stone, Stosur, and Musgrave have all had fantastic results for them, huge ranking rises! Stewart has had an average year, she won her first WTA event match in Canberra and a match at AO, but really those gains match her failure to defend other points later in the year. She did crack the top 150 though for the first time. Dittmann, has matched last years efforts, shouldnt be too harsh on her, she won two qualifying grand Slam matches, and two main draw WTA doubles matches and cracked top 200 for the first time, needs a final result at one of the 5 remaining $25K events to say her year has been good. Stosur has had a crap year in singles as has Van Elden, Dowse, Hewitt, Rosenfield and Summerside. Breadmore, Horiatopolous, Sekulowski, Stone, Kriz, Sewell, Welford, Roberts all shown some improvements worth applauding. McShea, Musgrave are heading upwards again too which is pleasing to see. spiceboy Oct 20th, 2002, 04:49 PM AUSBOY!!!!! You forgot about Adriana Szili!!!! She didn't play a lot but when she did.... SHE ROCKS And Christina H's year has been terrific coming from nowhere... AUSBOY Oct 20th, 2002, 04:54 PM Oops, yeah Szili has had a solid year her ranking up over 300 places! In my opinion only Evie, McQuillan, Molik and Stosur have had a bad year! The rest have matched or improved on last years effort, this is excluding those who have suffered injuries like Adamzack etc and seen a ranking slip! TS Oct 20th, 2002, 04:55 PM Thats why I said some emerging youngsters....those 2 are at the top of my list :) pff Simon...are u done ;) OK, its been an OK year at times, but my standards are too high I guess, maybe I just expected too much from some of the girls....Hopefully by the end of the year (after the 5 remaing challengers) we can have a good sit down and analyze the year that was :p TS Oct 20th, 2002, 05:16 PM Dont get me wrong Simon, I appreciate your work  *I anticipate a backlash* matthias Oct 20th, 2002, 10:24 PM this NOONI girl from Sweden reached the SF???? what a bad qualifiyng draw for my darling Madita  rated_next Oct 21st, 2002, 06:44 PM Well done Chanelle :D |
