Protoss Sep 14th, 2008, 06:40 AM This is embarassing Casey.
You wouldn't see someone on the Atp who's pretty much been off the tour for 12 years and 37 years old beating someone in the Atp top 50.
sunsfuns Sep 14th, 2008, 06:47 AM You wouldn't see someone on the Atp who's pretty much been off the tour for 12 years and 37 years old beating someone in the Atp top 50.

Protoss Sep 14th, 2008, 06:51 AM Casey broken for 1-3 3rd set. Nice to see that uber form from the US Open continue.
Sund7101 Sep 14th, 2008, 06:51 AM Remember Jimmy Connors made it to the Semifinals of the US Open in 1991 at the age of 39.
Age is just a number.
ex hopman Sep 14th, 2008, 06:52 AM Kimiko has been training really hard since last year.
She may not be top 20, but when she moves well, she could beat many players. She has weapons to damage.
sunsfuns Sep 14th, 2008, 06:55 AM Kimiko was on tour only 7 years (1989-1996). That's not a long career - perhaps that's why she now has a desire to play a bit more...
ex hopman Sep 14th, 2008, 07:00 AM Kimiko was on tour only 7 years (1989-1996). That's not a long career - perhaps that's why she now has a desire to play a bit more...
she hated media, she hated traveling around that time.
she said she was very uptight always, so i remember kimiko gave ai some advice to enjoy the tour as life, not as a job.
Protoss Sep 14th, 2008, 07:00 AM Casey broken for 1-5 3rd set.
If Casey's gonna continue to be this useless this season, she might as quit well for the season and return in the Australian Open warmups next January.
*Jean* Sep 14th, 2008, 07:01 AM Dellacqua :spit:
Ridiculous
Protoss Sep 14th, 2008, 07:07 AM Wozniak won the 1st set 6-2 btw.

TammysBigSis Sep 14th, 2008, 08:44 AM I know Tammy beat Kimiko--I was there to watch, but Kimiko really should have won that match. She won the 1st set and was up 4-2 in the 2nd!
Protoss Sep 14th, 2008, 08:45 AM I know Tammy beat Kimiko--I was there to watch, but Kimiko really should have won that match. She won the 1st set and was up 4-2 in the 2nd!

How far is Kobe, Japan from Tokyo?

Protoss Sep 14th, 2008, 08:48 AM Hmmm...an 11 minute delay between the end of the 2nd set and the start of the 3rd set. I wonder what happened.
TammysBigSis Sep 14th, 2008, 08:48 AM Kobe is about an hour's flight or 3 hours by bullet train. I decided not to go to the PPO, but will be there for the Japan Open.
TammysBigSis Sep 14th, 2008, 08:52 AM Don't they get a 10 minute break between set 2 and set 3? If not, I wouldn't be surprised if Tammy called a trainer to get something wrapped. but at least she held her serve to start the 3rd set... whew!
Protoss Sep 14th, 2008, 08:56 AM Don't they get a 10 minute break between set 2 and set 3? If not, I wouldn't be surprised if Tammy called a trainer to get something wrapped. but at least she held her serve to start the 3rd set... whew!
I don't think they normally do unless the heat rule were in effect.
TammysBigSis Sep 14th, 2008, 09:04 AM they do get a longer break than usual at the start of the 3rd, but i don't know how long. most players change their shirts or take a bathroom break.
Protoss Sep 14th, 2008, 09:07 AM they do get a longer break than usual at the start of the 3rd, but i don't know how long. most players change their shirts or take a bathroom break.
A 10 minute or so break isn't normal to start the 3rd set though.
Protoss Sep 14th, 2008, 09:07 AM Savchuk holds for 2-2 3rd set after saving 3 bps including 1 with a 2nd serve.
TammysBigSis Sep 14th, 2008, 09:13 AM Out of curiosity, I looked up the ITF's Rules of Tennis for 2008...
Event organisers may allow a rest period of a maximum of ten (10) minutes if
this is announced in advance of the event. This rest period can be taken after
the 3rd set in a best of 5 sets match, or after the 2nd set in a best of 3 sets
