Harkleroad celebrates great draw!

The draw for Eastbourne Womens Tennis Draw was realised today, to reveal a perfect line-up for American Ashley Harkleroad.

Both Jelena Jankovic and Venus Williams, who have beaten me in the past few weaks face eachother in the same quarter in the other half of the draw so I don't have to worry about them until the final. More over I have beaten a couple of the top seeds in my half recently so I am confident I can improve my ranking going into Wimbledon.

My main aim here is to get as many matches under my belt as possible so I have as much experience as possible going into my second grand slam. I made the final last time and aim to go one better here. Wimbledon is the slam everyone wants to win but very few do so I can only hope for the best.

I have a bye in the 1st round, which means my second round opponent will already be in the swing of things and playing well. I hope this doesn't hamper me too much as both Nicole and Anna could be tricky to beat. Of course I will play doubles here too and hope to blog more about that later in the week!

AGNES: ANa is showing us that she can beat tough players. Ana has alwasy proven that her ranking was top low for her talent and this win solidifies it!

DANI: Vika was so good in the tenth eleventh and twelvth games of the match getting her to win the first set. Unfourtunatly her serve died down and she strted to cramp. Shahar was smart and took advantage of Vika. She kicked major ass showing Vika she wasnt bad on grass.
AGNES: Shahar survied an ALMOST upset. Great match.

DANI:Sveta had a rocky first set as the crowd was against her but shocked the crowd winning that set 7-5. The second set Robson was in distress.

World no.1 and Roland Garros champion Jelena Jankovic won her second match of the tournament today.She defeated Russian Elena Dementieva 6-4 6-4 in just fone hour and thirty minutes.

Daniela has faced two juniors in her career and is yet to lose a set to eiher. She played Laura Robson in Rome winning 6-4 6-4 on Robsons debut. Yesterday in Eastbourne the Slovak dispatch Urszula Radwanska, gnieska sister. In two routine sets. In the first set Hantuchova took advantage of the Pole's second serve getting two breaks and putting her up 5-3 Acing Urszula for the set. In the second it was a har fought match. Hantuchova fell back two break but was not ready to give up leveling at 5-5. After that Dani was on cruise control winning eight points in a row finishing the match 6-3 7-5.

Agnes Szavay has been playing some of hr greatest tennis here in Eastbourne, yet to drop a set. She started off her campain versus Dominaika Cibulkova who had just demolished Radwanska 6-2 6-0. She'd beat out the Slovak 6-4 7-5 in an hour and twelve minutes. In the next round she'd play Li Na a crafty counter puncher who had just beaten out MariaSnachez Lorenzo . In the first set everything was leveled at two a piece untill Agnes rallied off seven games inn a row to take the set an the lead 6-2 3-0. Agnes had a mind slip up and found hersel on serve at 3-2. Agnes would go on another streak aqnd win it 6-2 6-2. Heres what Agnes said after the match. "Welll I had the crowd on my side so I had that advantage. Shee loves grass so she had that on her side. Im suprised I won that fast "

Amazing Amelie Through To Semis

Unseeded Amelie Mauresmo defeats top seeded Jankovic to advance to the semis in Eastbourne

Amelie Mauresmo is starting to make a splash on the E.W.T.A. tour, she reached her second semifinal last week, and she has followed it up this week with her third semifinal and win over the top ranked woman on tour. This time she hopes she can go that one step further and make her first tour final.

The path to the semis was not easy for the unseeded Frenchwoman, First up she faced Russian Dinara Safina and the two battled it out in a tight first set, which eventually went to Amelie in a tiebreak. The second set was much better for the Russian as she pushed a defensive Mauresmo all over the court to take the set easily 6-2. However Amelie stepped up her game in the decider putting pressure on her younger opponent to ease through to the second round 7-6 2-6 6-1. Next up for Amelie was a dangerous encounter with the sixteenth seed Serena Williams. It looked to be a very tough match on paper but when they hit the courts it turned out to be much easier than expected for Amelie as she dominated the American taking it in two comfortable sets 6-3 6-3. This seemed to give the Amelie a lot of confidence as she came out against Williams' compatriot Alexandra Stevenson. Amelie displayed the beautiful tennis from her previous round to ease through the first set 6-2, however she seemed to relax after that and lost her concentration in an abysmal set dropping it 6-0. Just as in previous matches she regained her composure and eased through the final set sealing it with a drop volley winner 6-2 0-6 6-1.

Next up for Amelie was the seemingly impossible task of World number 1 Jelena Jankovic. Amelie went in the huge underdog, but was hanging tough with the top player as they battled it out in a tight first set. Both players were playing aggressively and coming into net but neither could secure a break of serve and the set eventually went to a tiebreak. This is where the experience of Jankovic started to show as she easily put it away 7-3. In the second set Jankovic got an early break to lead 3-1, this is where Amelie started relentlessly rushing the net, the tactic worked well as it seemed to throw Jankovic off her game and eventually got her the lead at 5-4. A shaky service game ensued and Jankovic squandered two game points before Mauresmo finally closed it out 6-4 with backhand return winner. Jelena seemed rather annoyed having wasted her opportunity and Amelie had no trouble running away with the set taking it easily to seal the match 6-7 6-4 6-1.

Next up for Amelie is fourth seeded Daniela Hantuchova, it looks to be a tough match but either way it has been an excellent week for Amelie and great preparation for Wimbledon.

It was a mixed day for hitting partners Daniela Hantuchova and Agnes Szavay, as one won a tight three setter and the other lost a tight three setter. Daniela was first up on court and ready to face Alona Bondarenko. Alona has always been labeled a giant killer and was looking rewady to take out Daniela. Luckily Daniela rallied to take the hard hitting first set 7-5. The second was fairly similar to the first. Each player throwing punches. This time Alona got ahead and took it 7-5 with a drop shot. The last set looked as if Hantuchova was out. Dani was down four love but rallied and only lost three points to win the long match 7-5 5-7 6-4. Agnes Szavay was less lucky. She had a tough task of playing Ashley Harklerad. The first set Agnes shoulder started to bother her. She wasnt looking sharp and lost 6-3. The sewcond set was all ppwer as each ghit 12 winners. Agnes took the tiebreak thoough 7-6. The last set Agnes took two injury time outs before losing it 6-3.

Ah!!!well i decided to stay here on more day. Believe it or not i am going to watch the final tomorrow. I think its a great final even though i am not in there:ras:. Ash has been in great form since the clay season whereas Dani has always been in great form:lol:. I heard she is going to be no.2 again next week.Well i just hope for a great match and i give the edge to dani maybe because she is more experienced. So Dani in 3:) but i won't mind even if Ash wins:devil::)

Oh wow what a great match we are going to have in the final. JJ just wrote her stupid prediction that dani is going to win. Of course Ash is going to win. She performs well every week so i hope and think Ash will win. I think Ash really deserves this title. She should have won that RG title:devil: but lost to that dramaqueen my coach also coaches:lol:

Daniela Hantuchova was in action today against the ever tough Amelie Mauresmo. The first set was a one sided affair as Mauresmo cruised to a 6-2 first set victory. The second set was just as one sided with Dani taking the tough set 6-1 only letting MoMo win one game. The third set saw the Slovak in deep trouble bieng down 1-5. Daniela fought three match points at 3-5 and four more before she leveled it 5-5. After Daniela ran away with the match 2-6 6-1 7-5. Agnes Szavay was sighted watching the match.

This is simply a "mini Wimbledon" as the world top 16 all come here to compete to prepare for the next week's "Real Wimbledon". Also this tournament has been a surpising tournament as 9 seeded players fell in the second round!! And now Daniela and Ashley reach the final!!

Daniela Hantuchova, former world number two, she is not that confident after losing to Peer in the opening round at Roland Garros, she has so many oppurtunities to become number one, everytime she got the expectations, she fells to do that!! And now she is coming here with no pressure, and she seems to find back her best form!! In her way to the final, she faces a lot of newcomers, like Paszek, U.Radwanska, also world number one upsetter Mauresmo, actually in her semifinal match against Mauresmo, she was really close to lose that match as Mauresmo was leading 5-2 in the final set before Daniela fianlly wins it 7-5. Daniela faces a lot of ups and downs in her career, so i think she should be not really nervous, then she can play her best!!

Ashley Harkleroad, who is in super form, reaching finals in her last two tournaments, including Roland Garros and Birmingham, Ashley's coach said that Ashley wasn't really confident when she needed to face Gisela Dulko in 3R, who beat Maria Kirilenko in 2R, even though she finally wins that match, we can see that Ashley wasn't confident with herself, maybe a lot of pressure have been put on her suddenely, so this is a challenge for her!! In her road to the final, she faces some great players like Daniela's hitting partner Szavay, RG quarterfinalist Peer and now she faces former world number two Hantuchova, can she use the same way beating Szavay to beat Hantuchova?? She really want to win her first professional title(Her first title is Waikoloa exihibition), can she do it with less confidence??

No pressure Hantuchova or Nervous Harkleroad?? Catch up the final at 2:30 pm(Perth time)(After Barcelona)!!

Ranings projection

This is probarly the most important thing that Daniela and Ashley wants to know!!;)

If Daniela won the tournament, Daniela will be ranked #2, and Ashley will be ranked #9!!
If Ashley won the tournament, Ashley will be ranked #8, and Daniela will still be ranked #2!!

So anyway, Daniela will back to be number two again!!
And Ashley will break into the top 10!!
