The Draw
The Draw shall be conducted in public and shall be made not later than
48 hours before the commencement of the Competition. Once the Draw
has been made there will be no change except for the substitution of an
alternate into the event as a result of a player's withdrawal.
If there are two (2) players/teams from the same country they shall be
drawn into different halves of the Draw. If there are three (3) or four (4)
players from the same country they shall be drawn into different quarters
of the Draw.

I don't think it can happen, Venus and Serena must be on opposite sides of the draw to fit the Russian girls into each quarter of the draw. Depending on which rankings they take.

So after this boggled my brain for a while, it is very difficult for Serena and Venus to get on the same half but it IS possible.

Ana/Venus, Serena/Elena -- Sveta/Aga, Jelena/Dinara.
With Lindsay being on the bottom and Zvonareva being in the 1st quarter (Venus' R16) to satisfy Olympic rules.

It is very hard and unlikely but it seems that whenever they can draw one another, they usually do. :o

Draw time is August 7th at 11:00am local time

So that is:
5:00am Central Europe
11:00pm - August 6th Eastern US
8:00pm - August 6th Pacific US

They list only one draw ceremony, so I assume all the draws will be conducted then.

If the Olympics were here in America, I would feel that the people in charge would rig the draws so that their players don't play anyone tough in the early rounds.
