Karat0589 Jul 15th, 2008, 03:38 PM This will be another Grade 2 event this time taking place in Vancouver rather than Edmonton last week. :)
The draw is looking very interesting as well. :) The matchup I'm most excited about seeing is K.Kucova vs. A.Palyvuchenkova. Right now, they are two if the best players and it's unfortunate that they have to meet so early. :awww: I think that Aranza has a good chance to get her first win in many weeks against K.Mladenovic but she did play well last week making the semifinals. :) The funniest matchup is N.Hofmanova vs. J.Glushko...AGAIN! :haha: I was originally going to start the tournament now but I want to give a chance to Glushko or Hofmanova to change points because or else it will be the same result as in past weeks. :rolls:
Good luck to everyone though! :D
Karat0589 Jul 15th, 2008, 03:56 PM Nikola has sent new points. :yeah:
So I'm going to start calculating results and post later. ;)
Good luck to everyone again! :yeah:

I'm going to score now because I haven't posted the thread in awhile. :help: So I think I gave enough time for people to send. I've got new points from you, Krunic, and Hesse. :)
Did Nikola lost the match against Glushko? :hysteric:
I'm not sure yet. Didn't score yet. :p But I will soon.
Had you kept your old points and Julia not send, you would've definitely won. :)

Good luck.
Don't worry. You're #5 in the world and one loss in a Level 2 won't do much harm.
ViennaCalling Jul 15th, 2008, 04:12 PM I´m #5 without a tournament title? :spit:
But it´s better i guess - as the ATT-Runner i would have to calculate my own matches  :help:

You'll win one sooner or later.
The thing about you is that in the 2 or 3 finals that you made, you played GREAT leading into it but in the final you kind of like choked and lose in not a close match. The one that I could remember where you were close was the one against Kucova because the CT decided the match.

Karat0589 Jul 15th, 2008, 09:26 PM R1: Kristina Kucova vs. [7]Anastasia Palyvuchenkova
http://www.itftennis.com/shared/medialibrary/image/gallery/IO_21225_gallery.JPG
Kucova def. [7]Palyvuchenkova 5-7, 6-4, 6-4
And the tournament kicks off with a huge bang! This was the matchup and the crowds were looking forward too. Kristina’s clutch play in the second set was what saved her from getting blown out in straights because that’s what it looked like could’ve happened. However, maybe Nastya got some flashbacks from her final against Filipovski and just wasn’t able to close it out. As for Kristina, it’s a good win for her as she’s been struggling in the past weeks and will get a chance to beat #1 seed Amandine Hesse for a spot in the semifinals.
Karat0589 Jul 15th, 2008, 09:31 PM R1: [6]Kristina Mladenovic vs. Aranza Salut
http://img216.imageshack.us/img216/9154/mladenovic3wtawx4.jpg
[6]Mladenovic def. Salut 7-6[3], 4-6, 6-1
Good for Kristina! She has continued her great form from last week, toughing out a win against the talented Argentine. The first two set were of very high quality. Kristina just sneaked out of the first set and was leading 4-2 before Aranza staged a comeback of her own taking the next four games. However, that just seemed to tire Aranza as she went down meekly in the third set. Some advice I can give to Aranza is to work on your third set. It’s the second straight week where you were crushed in this set.
Karat0589 Jul 15th, 2008, 09:33 PM R1: Aleksandra Krunic vs. [4]Michelle Larcher de Brito
http://www.sptimes.com/2008/01/07/images/xlarge/Sports_Gameto_2390864.jpg
[4]Larcher de Brito def. Krunic 6-4, 6-4
In this match, Michelle proved why she is a top caliber player. She showed great maturity in this match and never doing too much with her game today. Everything was just spot on. At 4-4 in both sets, Michelle proved too much for the newcomer taking vital breaks to seal the set and match. As for Aleksandra, things are looking up. You played MUCH better than you did against Bojana last tournament.
Karat0589 Jul 15th, 2008, 09:35 PM R1: Urszula Radwanska vs. [8]Bojana Jovanovski
http://www.itftennis.com/shared/medialibrary/image/gallery/IO_26553_gallery.JPG
[8]Jovanovski def. Radwanska 4-6, 7-5, 6-4
Wow. This match was much closer than I anticipated. Last time, these two played Bojana took the contest in straights. This time around Urszula was much luckier but in crunch time, Bojana still came up with the goods. Kudos to her for pulling out the tough win.
Karat0589 Jul 15th, 2008, 09:38 PM R1: [5]Nikola Hofmanova vs. Julia Glushko
http://www.itftennis.com/shared/medialibrary/image/gallery/IO_29148_gallery.JPG
[5]Hofmanova def. Glushko 7-5, 7-6[1]
And Nikola posts her best win against Julia to date. As a top player, you have to be able to improvise you strokes and here Nikola did just that. To be honest, I wasn’t sure how it would work against Julia but it worked out just fine. It’s a REALLY interesting tactic to say the least and I can’t wait to score it against 2nd seeded Pamela Montez.
Daniela-Is-Mine Jul 15th, 2008, 09:39 PM Yea Kristina!!

Karat0589 Jul 15th, 2008, 09:40 PM Draws to be updated in a few. ;)
The seeds are doing awesome as of late. :worship: The only seed who lost was 7th seed A.Palyvuchenkova who lost to the 9th ranked player in the world Kristina Kucova. :awww: The quarterfinals beckon some REALLY good matches so I will score them now and post ASAP. :)

[1]Hesse def. Kucova 6-3, 6-4
What an emphatic win. If you can play and beat Kristina that badly, you must’ve really been on your game that day. Is it safe to say Amandine is back? I don’t know but Amandine is going to be really pleased with this win. From start to finish, she was focused and went out there with a mission and that did not include losing. She now advances to the semifinals where she will face the winner of 6th seed Kristina Mladenovic and 4th seed Michelle Larcher de Brito.
Karat0589 Jul 15th, 2008, 10:29 PM QF: [6]Kristina Mladenovic vs. [4]Michelle Larcher de Brito

 [6]Mladenovic def. [4]Larcher de Brito 6-3, 6-2
Wow. Kristina really is not looking to give up her ranking. She played brilliant tennis today and her variety was more than enough for Michelle to handle. There were many CT’s in the first set but for me the result was never really in doubt. Kristina’s game matches well to the young Portuguese. And now Kristina advances to her second consecutive semifinal where she will face her compatriot and #1 seed Amandine Hesse. As for Michelle, this is her second consecutive beatdown from a fellow seed. She seems to not like to play in Canada. Maybe it’s time for a point change.
Karat0589 Jul 15th, 2008, 10:31 PM QF: [3]Timea Babos vs. [8]Bojana Jovanovski
http://letoltes.forumcsoport.hu/578/babos_timea_sf_nagy.jpg/babos_timea_sf_nagy.jpg
[3]Babos def. [8]Jovanovski 6-2, 1-6, 6-4
Same exact scoreline as their final in Wimbledon. Timea again started the stronger player but then Bojana retaliated with some brilliant tennis of her own. However, by the end it was Timea who finished Bojana off with a soft volley winner. For Bojana, I hope she does edit her strokes a bit because they are very good against most players but if she has to face Timea for example, she will go down every time. As for Timea, someone beat the b**ch already. [Kidding, Zoli.]
Karat0589 Jul 15th, 2008, 10:34 PM QF: [5]Nikola Hofmanova vs. [2]Pamela Montez

:worship: [2]Montez def. [5]Hofmanova 6-3, 5-7, 6-4 :worship:
Match of the day for sure! Pam exploited my fears in Nikola’s strokes going up 6-3, 5-2. However, Nikola staged an incredible comeback from 5-2 to take the next 5 games and the set. You would think that Pamela would fold especially after her recent results but BOTH players saved their best tennis for the end. Once Pam would hit a big stroke, Nikola would counter that with a big shot of her own. However, it was a big overhead smash that saved Pamela today and she will get a chance to verse the hottest player on tour right now Timea Babos.
Karat0589 Jul 15th, 2008, 10:35 PM Semifinals to be scored and posted later. :D

young_gunner913 Jul 16th, 2008, 12:06 AM Damnit Julia. I'll send new strokes next for next week's event. If it's the same result Julia retires. No point in playing if I'm just going to be a BYE.

Why retire? You only sent points once and you've been drawing Nikola almost every time. For example, Timea and Nikola were hardly winning matches at the beginning and look at them now. You've been only playing for 3 or 4 weeks now, give it some time. But if you just want to retire, you can. I hope you won't though.
Semifinals results coming up.
Karat0589 Jul 16th, 2008, 08:56 PM SF: [1]Amandine Hesse vs. [6]Kristina Mladenovic
http://www.fft.fr/cms/ColdData/docs/59/5968.jpg
[1]Hesse def. [6]Mladenovic 6-3, 6-3
How impressive has Amandine been this tournament? In two matches, she has only dropped a total of 13 games. It’s not like these are the players at the bottom of the barrel. They are the 9th and 6th ranked players in the world. Amandine really wants to get back to the top of her game and nothing would be better than a title to take home. As for Kristina, she ALWAYS has a mental block against Amandine but a semifinal is still a good result for her.
Karat0589 Jul 16th, 2008, 08:58 PM SF: [3]Timea Babos vs. [2]Pamela Montez
http://www.lespetitsprinces.com/images/2005/demi/babos.jpg
[3]Babos def. [2]Montez 3-6, 7-5, 6-4
Same exact scoreline as their last match but it is always still a good match to score. Pam had a MP at 6-3, 5-4 but Timea hit a lucky net cord to save it. The third set was also good quality but Timea again comes up with the goods and is now in her third consecutive final. That has to be a new record on the ATT Juniors tour. I’m really looking forward to the final between Amandine and Timea. On her 10+match win streak, she has yet to face Amandine and Amandine seems to be playing some of her best tennis. As for Pam, she was SO CLOSE yet again. If you just make a SLIGHT change to your strokes and Timea doesn’t change, you will get the win next time.
Natash. Jul 16th, 2008, 11:04 PM So happy!
Amandine may be back. :scared: :)

GAME, SET, CHAMPIONSHIP AMANDINE HESSE!
6-2, 6-3
And Amandine completes this week with an amazing tournament and win here in the final! Amandine has won 4 Junior titles but this 5th one may be the sweetest for her as she has been struggling as of late. Amandine came and left the stronger player today and she definitely deserves this win. With this win, Amandine collects her 5th ATT Juniors title and will get a WC into yet another professional event! As for Timea, her 9-match win streak is broken but she has played AMAZING in the past weeks. She will get another chance at the title at the next Juniors tournament for sure.
Natash. Jul 17th, 2008, 02:17 AM World number 1 is back :worship: :hearts: :inlove:

Karat0589 Jul 17th, 2008, 02:19 AM And that caps off an amazing week here in Canada. :worship:
Amandine definitely seems to be back in possibly her best matches to date! I don't think she has ever won a tournament in all straight sets. :worship: Though having her 9-match win streak snapped, Timea is still having an amazing year. ;) She will go in the favorite to win the title next week. :) We will have a new player in Laura Robson and possibly a rededicated Urszula Radwanska.  However, we also may have our first retirement  (Julia Glushko) though I hope that won't happen. :)
Draws to be updated now. Rankings will be completed in a jiffy. ;)
