tobi Jul 14th, 2008, 11:11 PM Was away and boy how Ai managed to lose 2nd set and Alisa the first :rolls: :tape:
They were so in control.
In The Zone Jul 14th, 2008, 11:13 PM Wow, I am stunned. Glatch does not have the game at all to compete with Sugiyama -- let alone the top 100. I am so surprised.
Flushing. Jul 14th, 2008, 11:16 PM Alexa isn't playing well at all. Sugi is missing everything. :(
Flushing. Jul 14th, 2008, 11:18 PM Great point played by Ai.
cmorais24 Jul 14th, 2008, 11:27 PM Hi! Anyone knows who will Michelle Brito play against?
tobi Jul 14th, 2008, 11:28 PM Alexa isn't playing well at all. Sugi is missing everything. :(
When I was watching Ai was solid and Alexa was missing all and slicing everything on her BH :o
Flushing. Jul 14th, 2008, 11:30 PM When I was watching Ai was solid and Alexa was missing all and slicing everything on her BH :o
She's still doing that. The only difference is that Sugi is also missing a lot.
tobi Jul 14th, 2008, 11:32 PM Break up :)
I would rather say Alexa pulled Ai to her own level :o
TennisPlayingFox Jul 14th, 2008, 11:32 PM Excelent volley by Ai to get the break! *4-2
Flushing. Jul 14th, 2008, 11:36 PM Suddenly Alexa starts to play better and breaks Sugi's serve.
tobi Jul 14th, 2008, 11:36 PM Ai please dont lose this match :o
Corswandt Jul 14th, 2008, 11:46 PM Ai please dont lose this match :o
Can't agree. I mean, if Glatch wins this she'll be giving hope to all bad tennis players out there.
Corswandt Jul 14th, 2008, 11:49 PM Fuckin' A!
Unreturnable to save MP!

Corswandt Jul 14th, 2008, 11:51 PM Yeah!
Glatch is one of the most exciting bad tennis players I have ever seen.
tobi Jul 14th, 2008, 11:51 PM Can't agree. I mean, if Glatch wins this she'll be giving hope to all bad tennis players out there.
Thats true
Only watched the first set and Glatch was so bad and my theory is she pulled Ai to her own level :o
Now she saved a MP too, creating a nice story here.
iPatty. Jul 14th, 2008, 11:52 PM Poor Ai can't buy a first serve.
iPatty. Jul 14th, 2008, 11:53 PM I think my backhand is better than Glatch. Of course that isn't saying very much, but it holds true.
Corswandt Jul 14th, 2008, 11:53 PM She's slicing her FH as well now.
Corswandt Jul 14th, 2008, 11:55 PM I think my backhand is better than Glatch. Of course that isn't saying very much, but it holds true.
Joking aside, I'd say it isn't easy to hit a sliced BH with such consistent depth and accuracy as Glatch does.
tobi Jul 14th, 2008, 11:57 PM Tried double hander in the pass - missed :(

Sugiyama winning is always bad. She's only there to make other players look better than they really are.
tobi Jul 15th, 2008, 12:00 AM My advice to Ai ; go straight to practice courts and hit some balls.
Corswandt Jul 15th, 2008, 12:01 AM My advice to Ai ; go straight to practice courts and hit some balls.
My advice to Ai: retire. With immediate effect.

Thats harsh comment but especially right at some of the matchups :o
My advice to Ai: retire. With immediate effect.
Why to do so seriously?
Pavlova Jul 15th, 2008, 12:04 AM Glatch reminds me of Stevenson, with even less of a game.
Corswandt Jul 15th, 2008, 12:11 AM Glatch reminds me of Stevenson, with even less of a game.
She scared me. What if all other US hopefuls play like this? Maybe some of this is due to the injuries she suffered in that accident, but still.
As for Sugiyama, she serves no useful purpose other than providing a good punching bag for all or nearly all the young bashers, giving them plenty of puffballs to whack away and look invincible. Her last matches against Jankovic show what chances she has of beating the elite nowadays - and this assumes useless Jankovic is elite, which is open to debate.

Not easy at all. She hit quite a few carving slices off her back foot, which I think is even more impressive.
sharapovarulz1 Jul 15th, 2008, 12:23 AM OMG Olga what the hell is wrong with you :(
slavicpower Jul 15th, 2008, 12:24 AM OMG Govortsova(talksova)=brainless ball basher

Thats right.
But it is much better for me to hit and miss forever like Govortsova doing now.I always prefer Sugiyama's or Bammer's play to mindless ballbashing. They might be boring but it is a result of hard working and bit of brain work.
Sugiyama or Ruano Pascual, both crushed by Jankovic, but they are still good enough for a lot of players. She of course isnt on her prime and play style on WTA developed type which is not good for her but still she is doing pretty good out there.
sharapovarulz1 Jul 15th, 2008, 12:26 AM OMG Govortsova(talksova)=brainless ball basher
Right now IŽd have to agree with you, still love her though :hearts:

Think I love you too now ;)
sharapovarulz1 Jul 15th, 2008, 12:32 AM She needs to hold now overwise the set´s Bammers :(

I think it might have been because of the injuries. But that was just :tape:
Asia Muhammad is pretty good but I don't see anyone as the BIG AMERICAN hope.

I actually heard some decent things about Glatch in the past but she looked BAD out there today. She made Sugiyama look like an aggressive player. I think it's fair to say, her game sux, with or without injuries. U.S womens tennis, at least seems doomed once the WS retire. Their best hope is King. :tape:
Sugiyama's going through the motions still. When you are losing sets to the likes of Glatch, it's time to give it up. She continually gets cushy draws though, which is why her ranking is still relatively high, almost confusingly so. Glatch in the 2nd round of a TierII? Her match against Dubois in Toronto last year was one of the years worst.
This Govortsova - Bammer match is pretty fun. Govortsova is about as predictable as the Irish weather. Bammer playing her usual monotonous game. I used to wonder a while back why Bammer had no real fans on this board at all, but it's not too hard to fathom really.
slavicpower Jul 15th, 2008, 12:36 AM Olga's footwork is horrible
Corswandt Jul 15th, 2008, 12:43 AM But it is much better for me to hit and miss forever like Govortsova doing now.I always prefer Sugiyama's or Bammer's play to mindless ballbashing. They might be boring but it is a result of hard working and bit of brain work.
Brainwork? Bammer plays on autopilot most of the time, hitting the same 3/4 depth, 3/4 pace groundstrokes over and over and over and over again. Can't volley to save her life. Having to hit a lot of shots to win a point does not = having variety/being enjoyable to watch/being a smart player. Another example: Cibulkova.
Sugiyama at least is an old skool all-court player, I'll give her that. A choke-y, useless one, but still.
sharapovarulz1 Jul 15th, 2008, 12:43 AM I take it you guys are watching this on livestream?

Quite.
See post #244.
iPatty. Jul 15th, 2008, 12:46 AM Mishitbille Bammer seems to be playing well. Too bad this stream doesn't have raging sound, we could hear the loud screams from the crowd after a great Bammer point.
sharapovarulz1 Jul 15th, 2008, 12:46 AM Take the break Olga :)
sharapovarulz1 Jul 15th, 2008, 12:48 AM The stream is shit, it keeps buffering every 2 seconds :( think i will stick to livescores lol

You are right about your statement on Bammer.
But my point is she worked hard, her physical condition is good and it is allowing her to play this type of game and she is consistent (Not that much this year but especially last year),include herself know what to expect from herself on that day, either she is consistent enough to win,or geting crushed by big hitter who is on her day.
Anyway she filled her potential and got to #19 in the world which is unexpected. It is especially good in my opinion to fill your potential with hard working through your limited talents rathet than being such a wasted talent.
