Welcome to Long Beach, California! As some of you may or may not know, our tour director is going on a vacation but that doesn't mean the rest of us have to sit around while he's enjoying his time off! This week we will be honoring tennis great Billie Jean King in an exhibtion tournament held in her home city.

The singles draw will consist of 16 teams and the doubles draw will also consist of 16 teams. If we have more than 16 teams, qualfying rounds will be played. The surface that we'll be playing on is neutral meaning all teams will have 100pts to divide into three sets, same rules apply for doubles*.

* For these exhibitons tournaments, doubles teams will be restricted to players in your own country.
** If not enough teams sign up or sent points, PC teams will take their place, sorry for those of you who hate PC players but just send good points, that way you wont have to worry about them.

Match of the day. Ayumi saved 6 match points against her Chinese opponent and just absolutely refused to go down. Na was so close to closing this one out in straight sets like she had planned but Ayumi just was too much and in the third set she made Na look ordinary. Congrats to Japan! Anabel Ousts Tamira; To Face Elena Next!

In one of the last first round matches of the day, Anabel Medina Garrigues of Spain defeated Tamira Paszek of Austria 6-3, 6-3 for a spot in the quarterfinals at the BJK Invitational in Long Beach, California. Both players started well holding serve until 2-2 where Anabel hit an awesome topspin backhand on the run(pictured) to get the first break of the match. Using her fluid topspins, she moved Tamira, who isn't in the best of shape, side to side and often finished the point with an easy groundstroke or volley. After 27 minutes of play, Anabel broke for the second time at 30-40 to take the first set.

However, the second start turned in Tamira's favor as after dropping the first game of the set, romped through the next three using punishing flat groundstrokes to put Anabel immediately on the defense. With Tamira, leading 3-1 40-15 on her serve, Anabel went back to her original game plan which was being aggressive and pulling Tamira off the court. She was able to fight back from that deficit to get the break with a soft backhand drop shot. She let out a spirited "VAMOS!" at her camp and that break seemed to break Tamira down completely. She wasn't able to get another game as on match point she hit another unforced error to give Anabel the win 6-3, 6-3.

Anabel commented, "Today I think I played the best match of my career so far. I know this is just an exhibition but finally I was aggressive and played my game to its fullest. During the rebound ace season, I was often just pushing the ball and waiting for errors. It often led into trouble for myself as I got behind in the points. And I've always been willing to slug it out with players and take it to three sets. It's nice to finally win one in straights and relieve my body of some stress."

In the next round of the exhibition, she will be facing Elena Dementieva of Australia. Anabel commented, "It's obviously going to be a very tough match for me. Australia is the #1 team in the world, and they will be out there looking to win it all. My coach is also a good friend of Australia's coach so it will be even tougher. But for me, I'm going to have to look at her as my opponent and I want to win just as much as any other player left in the draw." In the doubles event, Anabel paired up with compatriot Virginia Ruano Pascual and is set to play later on.

Yesterday, in beautiful style Agnieszka Radwanska beat Russian Superstar in three tough sets. The Pole was a favourite in this match and she confirmed fact, that she is one of the best players in WTT. Aga started play really good, she broke Maria in 1st game, then she lead 3/1. but Sharapova didn't give up. However Aga won 1st set 6/4. In 2nd set Masha overplayed Aga and won this set 6/2. In final set Agnieszka showed her fighting spirit. She played too smart for her oponnent. Agnieszka had many winners from BDL and amazing drop shots. She knew what she had to do to win match against Sharapova. The next rival is Sania Mirza, which didn't lose even one game in her previous match. It should be a great match for local crowd.

Great match from both teams. The Spaniards knew they had to come out strong against the Poles and it won them the match. It was a very high quality match full of drama but in the end, the Spanish women had what it took to get past their Polish opponents.
