The Argentine this Betina Jozami very anciosa for playing. The tournament is in Prague and develops on clay, surface that she is charmed with playing due to the fact that she feels very comfortable.
The Argentine hace got the first one courts opposite to Angelika Roesch a new but very dangerous players in this surface.
Betina arrive to Prague yesterday in the morning and today she dedicate to being practised in the fields of the tournament

Virginie Razzano is hoping to impress the crowd at the Prague open, she hasn't yet won a match and is hoping to win her first match against German Martina Muller.
"I have never played against her before but she seems like a great player" Virginie had said.

She hasn't been overly happy with her game and has been working on it with her coach, "I haven't been overly happy with my serve" Razzano had said, she has been practicing in Prague with her coach and is hoping that the practice will make her ready for the German Martina Muller. She is hoping that she will not have any nerves against her.

"I think that nerves have taken over my game lately and I really want that to change" Razzano had said, she had also said that she would be really hyped against her and can't wait to play a fantastic match.

Davenport Ready For The Clay

Lindsay Davenport will be the no. 4 seed at the ECM Prague Open this year. She has been slowly moving up the ranks in EWTA and is coming off of a strong FED cup showing for the US. With a solid singles rubber win in her fed cup match, Lindsay will be coming into this event with lots of confidence.

"I'm feeling really good about my chances here in Prague. I've played some clay events before the start of the clay season in Mexico and I think I've found my footing on the surface finally, so I'll be looking to go far in this draw and hopefully take the title. Our semi-final Fed Cup victory give me lots of confidence and I'll be looking to use that here in Prague."

Lindsay will also be teaming up with newcomber Srebotnik for the doubles event here in Prague, something she is equally confident about. "Well, Srebotnik is new to the tour, but her coach and my coach go way back, so they talked us into hooking up and so far it has been like magic!! Other than Serena, I've never had a doubles partner want to win as badly as I do. We should do well."

-Angela is another player who really seems to know the game! She does a bit too much pushing and at times doesn't go for enough (which will hurt her in the next round) but with some changes she could be very good. I also really like Amelie`s game plan... this match was closer than the score, and Mauresmo definitely won in two.

Flavia Pennetta had a dissapointing debut tournament on the EWTA tour.
"I'm very dissapointed with how things went today. I really felt like I could win - especially because I got this new, relatively unknown, but extremely talented coach. Luckily I still have doubles, where I believe we (Safina and Pennetta) have a great shot at winning. I'm really looking forward to the next challenges, because I believe I'm one of the best girls on tour. My goal is to become number 1 in the world, and I think that will happen. Unfortunately, I was just unlucky out there today."

Virginie Razzano has won her first match against German Veteran Martina Muller. The first was tight and Razzano was playing her best tennis, she had hit a number of winners and she ended up winning the first set 6-4.

"After that I felt confident that I could win" Razzano had said. And she did just that, she improved hugely in the second set having an easy one 6-2, "I felt like I was playing good tennis and i was impressed with the number of winners I managed to hit" Razzano said, "It's great for me, It's my first win and I'm really proud," says Razzano.

In the next roud she plays number two seed Dominika Cibulkova, "She's a great player and it will definetly be a challenge" says Razzano, she says that her practiced has payed off and she will continue practicing to get ready for her match against Cibulkova.

SANIA FALLS IN PRAGUE

21 year old Sania Mirza lost in the first round of Prague today to fellow newcomer Jelena Dokic. Mirza, playing in her debut match on the EWTA tour, was over come with nerves and dropped the first set 6-4. "I was very disappointed with losing the first set as I feel I didn’t take advantage of my chances" said the Indian star. "In the second set I just couldn't find my rhythm and Jelena upped her game and hit winners all over the place. I sensed the support from the crowd and wanted to give them a good match, but today just wasn't my day."
Her coach e5dawsonj had this to say about Sania's performance "I think for a first match, Sania played well. She stayed with jelena whereas some players might have been disheartened by some of the winners she hit. I think Sania will learn a lot from this match and know how to handle the pressure in future matches."
Mirza is still in the doubles competiton with French partner Virginie Razzano and her next singles tournement will be next week in Rome.

Prague. The Argentine Betina Jozami classify this Wednesday for the second round of the tournament in Prague on having defeated Angelika Roesch for 6-3 6-4 in 1.30 hr of game.
The Argentine one was superior at all time to the blows of Angelika, her drive I work so well that I fulfil 15 winners.
The next rival of Betina is the Polish maximum favorite Marta Domachowska to the tournament.

Australian Jelena Dokic won her first ever match in the first round of Prague
Right after her match against Sania Mirza of India, Jelena was asked, how she felt about her perfomace. "Well, it was a great match. She challenged me a lot, but in the end, I guess it was proved who was the better player," Jelena said.
Jelena will now face the Czech wildcard Lucie Safarova. "I think, I have a great chance to win this match. She's only a wilcard, you know, but I never take any matches unseriously. I'm gonna do my best and hopefully end with a victory. But if I lose, which I doubt I will, I luckily still have doubles, where I play with my great friend Ashley Harkleroad. We have so much fun together."
Jelena Dokic's 2nd round match is scheduled to be played some time tomorrow.

Q: How is everything going for you Lindsay?

A: Everything is going well. This tournament really has a nice atmostphere and the players seem to be really involved. The press here seems to be nice.

Q: Thank you. What do you feel about your chances here?

A: I'm always confident when entering an event. I believe I've put in the work and hopefully it will pay off. I watched some matches today and the clay seems to be playing a little slow, but that's to be expected here. I'll just have to be patient and choose the right time to go for my shots.

Q: Rather tough field here with all the newcombers to the tour?

A: I'd say so. Just more players for this great league, not necessarily a tougher field though.

Flavia Pennetta, who was knocked out of Prague yesterday, is sorry for Russian Dinara Safina. "I feel sorry for her, she's my best friend on tour, and I wanted her to win so badly," Pennetta said on a press conference earlier today. "But of course I can see the positive side of this. I'm playing doubles with her, and now she can focus 100% on that, so I guess we have a great shot at winning this - I hope we will."
Pennetta and Safina's match is scheduled to begin later today.

Australian Jelena Dokic was nothing but a big smile when we caught her after her match against Czech Lucie Safarova. "I'm so happy to have reached the quarter finals. I feel like I played great out there today. Even though I lost a set I'm still very happy." Jelena is also playing doubles this week: "I love playing doubles, so I'm looking forward to this a lot. Ashley is also doing great here, and I'm so happy for her. She's so adorable and the sweetest girl on tour. I can't wait to get on court for doubles," Dokic said before heading off.

Virginie Razzano has yet again caused another upset. She defeated the number two seed slovakian Dominika Cibulkova in a tough three sets. 7-6 4-6 6-1. "I thought that I was at my best tennis today" Razzano said, "But Dominika also was and was really pushing me." Razzano had said. She showed heaps of promise and was hitting winners all over the court, but Cibulkova also was.

"She pushed me in the first set and I only just survived" Razzano said, "In the second set well she just proved to good" Razzano said, she was still playing her game in the second set but Cibulkova proved to strong. "In the third set I couldn't believe how well I was playing" Razzano said, "I was playing amazing and my winners just kept on coming"

Virginie would like to say thank you to all her fans, "I could here allot of people cheering me on down there which was suprising as I expected most of them to be cheering for Dominika" Razzano said. When she was asked about doubles she gave a big smile. "I can't wait to play doubles with Sania, she's a joy to be around and always smiling" Razzano said. She can't wait to show some more of her skill against her next opponent.

Surprise in Prague

The Argentina Betina Jozami defeat this Thursday to Polish and favorite maxim to the tournament to Domachowska for 2-6 6-3 6-4 in 2 hours of game.
Jozami gave her firstly surprise of the tournament when she eliminated to the favorite maxim, the first set the Polish one was superior to Betina and she defeat it for 6-2. In the second parcial one and the third one the Argentine starts to connecting a lot of winners, aces and she could close the meeting and reach for the first time the quarters of final

End of the dream

The Argentine Betina Jozami lost in the quarters opposite to the Australian Jelena Dokic for 6-4 7-5.
Jozami said after the match

" Well, I lost my quartes match against Jelena Dokic today. I don't think either of us played upto our level, but the first set was close and we both fought well. I was a little bit nervous. I didn't sleep very well last night. It's still new to me to be in the quarters of such a big tournament so I think I was a bit too excited to sleep well. I couldn't find my game but I kept fighting and tried everything. In the first set I was down 4-1 but came back to 4-4; usually in a match you can change the momentum and find your way like that, and I gave my best, but she was just better today. I wish her good luck in the semifinal, it should be a good one!

Normally I don't do so well during the clay court season, so I'm very happy I had such a good start here in Amelia Island. I found some of my best form on clay, and feel good with my sliding. Tonight we'll go out to dinner like the last few days, and maybe have a bit of a celebration afterwards "

Jelena Dokic rallied past Betina Jozami from Argentina to reach the semifinal in her first ever tournament. "I'm so happy with this win. Betina beat the first seeded player in the previous round and still I manage to beat her in straight sets. She put up a good fight, but I'm glad I pulled it out in the end."
Unfortunately this win was followed by an exit from the doubles tournament. "Yea, Ash and I lost, but considering it was our first match together, I'm quite happy. She is a great person and a great player, and I'm hoping to play many more tournament's with her."
Jelena Dokic will now face Ana Ivanovic of Serbia, who beat Dokic's doubles partner, Ashley Harkleroad, in a hard fought match.

The fewest people would have considered Australian Jelena Dokic, 25, one of the favourites to reach the final. But the Osijek-born girl will now play the match of her life tomorrow against her good friend Monica Seles. In her semifinal match, Dokic beat 7th seeded Serb, Ana Ivanovic.
"This was definitely the win of my life. Ana is an amazing playing, and that I could win was just great. It's so hard to describe how it is, standing here in the final of my debut tournament. It would be the best moment of my life if I could win tomorrow."

This is a all former-Yugaslavian final which features two newcomers, Jelena Dokic, who shows no nerves at all in the entire tournament, went to the final just losing one set to a local player. Also her win over Ivanovic and Jozami(Who beats the number one seed Domachowska) are really impressive, although she didn't do well in the opening games of those matches, but her form in the last few games are so impressive, so her mental toughness is just too good on clay!!

And for Monica Seles, who hits some really really powerful groundstrokes with her doubles-handed forehand, and uses different spins perfectly, has some trouble in the entire tournament, plays a couple of three-setters, all in tight sets, but against good player, like Chakvetadze, Stevenson(Who gave some troubles to Agnes Szavay last week) and Razzano(Who beats the number two seed Dominika Cibulkova). So Monica likes to play long matches and this definately an advantage on clay as playing on clay need mental toughness.

So who will win, Jelena "Closes matches shortly" Dokic or Monica "Long-matches-master" Seles?? If you want to know who will be crowned in cultural and historical Prague, catch up the final(Live-scoring) at 3:00 pm(Perth time).

If Jelena won the tournament, Jelena will be ranked #42, and Monica will still be ranked #45!!

Agnes: Well Its down to two Monica Seles and Jelena DOkic. Who would expected these new comers to play thier way to the final with great ease and passion.
Daniela: Monica has been impressive alll week taking out numerous people in two sets. Her clay court play is penomenal and she is extremly DANGEROUS Oout here. She can suprise anyone with her power and her grunt. We all know she will bring her A game! Jelena Dokic has also been playing the thennis of her life in the past week as this is her debut week. She has reached her first final ever and her first finals on the clay. SHe has the strenghjt and touch to go far and we all know she'll be fighting for glory.
Agnes: My pick is the ever tough Monica Seles. She's beaten out almost everyone threr is to beat and now only Jelena is left. She has so much to offer on this clay and she seems like no one can stop her. She wants it bad to!.
Daniela: I have to agree. Ive seenm her play and I know what she has in her. her backhand down the line has been scoring point after point after point. She is moving well. I'm still not countting out Jelena. who has taken out 9341924718 seeds in this tournamnet
