Cremona is first mentioned in history as a settlement of the Cenomani (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cenomani), a Gallic (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gallic)(Celtic (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Celt)) tribe that arrived in the Po (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Po) valley around 400 BC. However, the name Cremona was given (most probably) by earlier settlers.
