“I am amazed, if I am honest I went into this match with no expectations. I was lucky enough to catch Miss Dulco on an off day, she has played a lot of tennis recently and I am fresh. I had nothing to loose so I guess there was less pressure on me and I managed to play the tennis of my life, I felt as if I couldn’t miss a shot. The shock has still not sunk in”

Former world's number one, Shahar Peer of Israel speaks at a press conference after her shocking second round defeat at Wimbledon.

After another shocking defeat, Israel's Shahar Peer announced that she is planning on retiring from the OWTT tour. Peer who has achieved more than 90% of the tour, winning two career singles titles, a doubles title, and being a former world's number one in singles, said that she doesn't feel the same passion that she used to.

"Today's match was the beginning of the end for me. Caroline [Wozniacki] is a great girl but I don't respect her game at all. She's a ball basher, plain and simple. It doesn't require any kind of skill or talent but it's what will get you through to the next round I guess. If that's what the tour is coming to, I don't want to be part of it."

Peer has been one of the tour's most outspoken players and said that she won't censor herself and she will continue to speak her mind.

"I think it would be a tragedy if ball bashing players like Ana Ivanovic win a grand slam tournament. Soon the tour will just be reduced to roid raged women bashing a ball around. It's disappointing because there's so much talent on the tour."

It is known that Peer will compete in at least one tournament in the summer hardcourt season. Shahar, who is a known hardcourt specialist, won both of her singles titles on the hardcourt surface. When asked if she knew when she wanted to retire, Peer responded:

"I'm not quite sure. After my match, I had a talk with the tournament director and he was quite adamant that I not retire. I'm planning on playing in Stanford, so we'll see what happens there. I'm hoping to at least play at the U.S Open but I really can't make any committments yet. I'm just going to go day by day."

Today was a tough day at work for Serena

Serena Williams was mentally challenged in the last days as verbal attacks from other players didn't stop coming. Serena has constantly been on phone yesterday, answering media's questions and doing interviews. During this precious time Serena should have been training, but she couldn't even get out of her hotel as too many paparrazis, fans and interviewers were waiting outside at any time of the day and night.

So Serena got on court today and didn't seem fresh against the young Polish, Agnieszka Radwanska. Serena's lack of training and sleeping showed up quickly, she was totally overplayed by her teenage opponent who won the first set, 6-0, in 18 minutes. Second set wasn't better, Aga kept going and went up 5-3, she had two match points but couldn't convert them and this is exactly where Serena woke up. Girls went to a tie break but Serena was just too determinated, Radwanska got ass whooped from this tie break and on. Serena won the tie break 7-2 and the set. Final set was Ree all the way, she won it 6-1, shouting so heavily on her last forehand winner that the chair umpire glasses broke.

Serena will meet Nathalie Dechy in the next round, Serena is the only non-French remaining women in her quarter, Dechy, Cornet and Golovin are the 3 others. Serena said after her match "This was so stressful... I maybe thought during a second that this match was over, I just tried as most as possible the focus on one point at the time." Today was a surprising day as all the top seeds of the bottom part were eliminated, the favorite of this part now theorically is Maria Sharapova, seed 11. Ree commented these upsets, "Well it's just surprising, tennis is a game in which every match can be sooo different. Today newcomers made some noise there's nothing more to sat than this I mean, congrats to them, even Cornet, I dislike her but I can't deny that she scored a big win today."

There's a bit of controversy about Shahar Peer today, she says she wants to retire as she had some bad results in the last weeks and bowed out in first round today, Ree said "I don't think she's gonna retire, I don't mean she's not serious about what she's saying, but I mean I did the same thing. It is really tough to lose matches that you expect to win and that you know you should have won. I believe in this girl, she's got a unique talent and a unique game, she's got what it takes to win Grand Slams."

Serena likes danger!

Serena Williams kept playing with fire, in first round she had to save match points and today she was two games away of being ousted by the loser that Natalie Deshit is.

1st set: Serena looked damn tight. Nothing was inside the white lines, she was missing some easy shots by miles. Deshit had no effort to do and only looked Serena self-destroying job, Ree gave the set 0-6.

2nd set: Deshit was overconfident and playing some lazy tennis and only waiting for Reena's mistakes and this time they didn't come, Serena ass whooped the ugly Frenchie 6-0.

3rd set: Deshit found a bit of her game while Serena struggled being constant. The French women got up 4-2, being two games away of ousting the 7th seed, but crunmbled under pressure and lost the next 3 games and took a bathroom to get some steroids injections. She cameback winning the next game but Serena was too great for her and closed out the set 7-5.

After the match Ree said, "She's such a freakin' loser. Last week she beat me with her stupid bathroom break but this week I just got my game together and bitchslapped her in the last two games." Serena also didn't shake Deshit's hand at the end of the match and said about it to conclude her post-match conference, "She doesn't deserve touching me."

(1) Elena Dementieva vs. (9) Ana Ivanovic

This will be a tough match. Ivanovic leads their head to head and an even more horrifying statistic for Dementieva, she's never won a game against Ana! However, I'm convinced that whoever can take the first set, will take the match. Ana is a well-known ball basher but I think Elena has the tricks in her bag to force Ana to make changes in her game style.

A match that most thought they would not see. However, I believe that this will be the best match of the quarterfinals. Serena is fighting her way through the draw and is a crowd favorite to win the title. Tatiana faced elmination right in the face against her countrywoman, Alize Corent, but Tati was able to show a glimpse of her form from when she was ranked number one and she dominated 13 consecutive games to advance to the quarters. With the fight these two have shown, it's going to be a marathon match.

Battle of the wildcards. Both of these women have demonstrated that they are committed to making a good start on the tour. This is the debut tournament for both and only one of them can make the semis. Both have very similar game styles but Wozniacki seems to be more aggressive then Paszek. Tamira, in my opinion will have more gas in the tank if the sets last longer.

Winner: Caroline Wozniacki in three sets.

Quarterfinal Match #4
(11) Maria Sharapova vs. (12) Dinara Safina

Battle of the Russians. Sharapova has demonstrated her fighting ability against Jankovic, taking out the Serb in three sets. Meanwhile, Safina seems to be in top shape, taking out a very tough Svetlana Kuznetsova in straight sets. The winner of this match will have a huge chance to make the finals, it all depends on whose more willing to step up and take the chance.


Winner: Dinara Safina in straight sets.

Comeback of the year by Tatiana Golovin

12th seeded French player Tatiana Golovin woke up just in time to win her 2nd round match against compatriot Alize Cornet. The newcomer Cornet started the match confident and quickly won the first set by 6:0. Tatiana couldn't find answers to her opponent’s aggressive game and looked out of sorts as she trailed by 6:0, 5:0 30:0. Alize hit a forehand that was clearly out, but the umpire didn't seem to agree and awarded the point to Cornet to go 40:0 and earn three match points. Golovin protested and got into a heated argument with the chair umpire. The Frenchwoman couldn't hold her emotions as she yelled to Mariana Alves: "You fucking bitch. You stupid incompetent whore. That ball was so out. It was out!!! What are you doing? You've been doing this the whole time, what the fuck is your problem? Are you retarded? You need to get your facts straight before you call a ball in or out...God you are such a moron". After that moment Golovin started playing more and more aggressive and it was clear there was no way back as she won 13 games in a row to stage the best comeback in the history of OWTT tour.

Congratulations, Tatiana. What a comeback, I don’t believe we’ve ever seen anything like it.
“Right. Thanks. Yeah, it was such a weird match, I really thought I was going home and then all of a sudden I won. I’m still shaking(laughter).

What went through you mind at 0:6, 0:5?
“I just kept telling myself to keep fighting. It was so humiliating, I saw the crowd leaving, and I was on the verge of tears. Just very emotional, I really wanted to win a game, so I could feel at least a bit better(laughter).”

You argued with the umpire Mariana Alves. What was that all about?
“Oh my god, how stupid is that woman. I mean seriously(laughter). She kept overruling every good shot I hit and every time Cornet hit a ball out she called it in. At the start I was a bit confused, I thought I was getting it wrong, but I became more and more suspicious until I finally caught her lying in that final point, before I made this amazing turnaround. I think it inspired me to win the match. I was so pissed and it gave me the strength to fight. I have a great fighting spirit, so that pulled me through.”

Any words about your opponent today?
“Well, I’m really happy I beat her. She just arrived to the tour and she already started talking shit about players, who does she think she is? My god, I’m so happy I gave her a lesson on how you actually win without bribing umpires. But yeah, she is an ok player, I guess. She played a very aggressive game today. I was kinda shocked how relaxed she was, she just kept swinging and hitting winners all over the court. Now I can’t really say how many of those “winners” were actually inside of the court. I think maybe a half, I don’t know. This whole match would’ve been completely different if it wasn’t for that stupid umpire. I hope she gets fired.”

Shahar Peer called a press conference where she announced that she is retiring soon.
“She what? Really? I can’t believe it. I have to say I’m surprised. I know she’s not enjoying the game very much at the moment, but I never really saw this coming, I thought she was gonna take a long break, I guess not. We’ve played once before and she beat me in a really tight match, so I hope we can both produce our best tennis tomorrow. Too bad we have to meet so early, but it’s a good thing it means that one of us is going to the SF, which is great.”

Lindsay Davenport crashed out of Wimbledon in her first match to Jelena Jankovic 6-0 0-6 7-5. It was a shocking loss for the world number 8, who was a semi-finalist at last month's French Open.

"I am extremely disappointed with how I played today. Wimbledon was one of my biggest goals this year and I put way too much pressure on myself to play well here. Jelena played a good match and fully deserves this win. I beat her in a close match in Paris, so she got revenge I suppose."

However, Lindsay has confirmed that she will not give up the sport like a few of her rivals have been contemplating, most recently Shahar Peer.

"There is no way I would even dream of leaving the tour. I have spent my whole life playing tennis and I have many years to come. I am already thinking of coming back here next year and trying to do better. Plus, I have alot of friends on the tour and alot of fans to play for. It's a big shame that Peer is thinking about quitting. She is one of the best in the world at the moment and shouldn't be discouraged just because she lost a few matches. I hope she reconsiders her decision."

"However, it would be beneficial to the tour if some others were considering retirement. Most notably, Tatiana Golovin. She is known to be the bitchiest player, she has no friends, she sucks and she was even voted the ugliest player. When she walks on court, everyone else leaves which obviously is no good to OWTT. I have to admit, it's hard to look directly at her for more than a minute or so without feeling sick inside. I'd also like to ask for her to stop trying to get in with Serena. She's not interested. "

Lastly, who do you think can win the tournament from here?

"I won't really be watching but I think Serena or Domi have a great chance. Anyone can really come through that bottom half, but the winner will be either Serena or Domi!"

Dinara has her chance to atone for her loss against Maria at Eastbourne after winning the first set 6-0 and going on to lose, but It will be hard against an in form Sharapova and Safina may well carry the emotional scars from that loss as well as fatigue from her Rd1 epic against Patty!

18 year old Alizé Cornet is said to be distraught today after a bizarre defeat to #12 seed Tatiana Golovin. Alize was 6-0 5-0 40-0 up, without dropping a point on serve before Tatiana saved 3 match points and won the next 13 games to take the match:

“It’s hard, devastating, to loose this way. I think that it would be less upsetting to be double bageled than to loose this way. I just have to try to take some positives from this and then pick myself up and move on. I just have to remember that I had a great tournament and exceeded all expectations”

“When I had those 3 match points and Tatiana went and argued for like 10 minutes with the umpire I had a lot of time to take everything in and think about where I was. That was when it hit me and I realised I was at Wimbledon so close to making the Quater-final and had the 12th seed on the ropes. I also then started to think and look forward to my next round match against Serena Williams and planning my strategy for that, big mistake. I just got really really nervous and didn’t dare go for my shots. But you have to do that on grass, and you saw the result. I wish she had just used hawk-eye instead!”

Paszek Moves into Wimbledon Quarters

Tamira Paszek has just turned pro on the OWTT and is playing in her first tournament, Wimbledon. She was given a wild card and has made good use of it, making the quarterfinals of her first event.

At the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club yesterday, Tamira Paszek delighted fans in more ways than one.

Coming off a shocking 0-6 6-0 6-3 win over 4th seeded Ioaona Raluca Olaru in the first round, Paszek came out rather slow in her round of 16 match against Hingis.

"I knew I had to play well from the start," said Paszek, "and when that didn't happen, I started looking for new ways to win and a new approach to playing Martina."

Paszek got down 3-5 in the first set, before recovering to take the opening set 7-5. In the 2nd set, though, something unbelievable even to those who saw it happened.

At 0-1 with Paszek serving, she struck a serve only to have her left bosom come out of her shirt.

"It was so embarassing!" said Paszek. "One of my... girls... just decided to come out on my second serve. Needless to say I double faulted and went on to get broken, due to sheer embarassment."

The tragedy was not over yet, though. At 3-0 with Paszek serving again, an even more unbelievable event occured.

"I was waiting to return," said her opponent [Hingis], "and I look up and all I see are two of Tamira's titties!"

At 0-3 on a first serve, both of Paszek's breasts could be seen over the big screen in the stadium.

"How terrible!" said Paszek, "I'm not even sure how I pulled it together enough to win the second set!"

After the second "incident," the head of the Wimbledon tennis club came out onto the court, and made Tamira go into the locker room and change.

"I wasn't too upset about having to change," said Tamira, "because it gave me a few minutes to think about what was going on."

Coming out of the locker room, Tamira would get broke again to go down 0-4 but then win six consecutive games.

Maria Sharapova has battled her way to the quarters after winning her first two matches against, Lucky Loser, Severine Bremond and Jelena Jankovic. She will next face fellow Russian, Dinara Safina, where their head-to-head is even at 1-1. The last time they played was in Eastbourne, last week where Sharapova won 0-6 6-4 6-0.

Sharapova is the number 11 seed this week. She played Bremond first and Bremond got the early lead at 3-0 and Sharapova broke back to go back 3-2 but it wasn't enough to stop Bremond from taking the set 6-3. Sharapova then steamrolled Bremond in the second and third sets. She broke 6 times in a row and held serve 6 times in a row, winning the last 12 games bagelling the last 2 sets. Sharapova dropped a total of 11 points in the last 2 sets.

The next match was against Jelena Jankovic, where after losing the first set 6-0, she took the second set also to 6-0 and level it at 1 set all. But the third set was a bit more of a battle. Sharapova broke Jankovic's serve the first game and Jankovic did exactly the same to Sharapova's serve. The next 4 games were holds of serve and the game after that Sharapova turned things arounnd by breaking Jankovic, for the second time in the set but this time she followed by consolidating her break by holding serve to love with some strong serving.

Jankovic, under pressure at 3-5 serving to stay in the match, gave Sharapova 2 match points at 15-40 by serving 2 double faults. Sharapova couldn't take them and Jankovic held serve. Sharapova served for the match and did to love with strong groundstrokes and nice touches. Sharapova will now face Dinara Safina for a place in the semifinals.

Both women have made their way to the final without the loss of a set. Ivanovic has had the tougher draw though, having to beat #1 Dementieva, #6 Cibulkova and #12 Golovin, whereas Wozniacki has faced just #5 Peer and #11 Sharapova from the seeded contingent.

Ivanovic and Wozniacki have similar styles of play - they are both very aggressive, so expect alot of errors, but also some fantastic winners from this match. It should be interesting to see how these two match up. Wozniacki is playing fearlessly right now, but will the pressure of being in a Slam final overwhelm her against the more experienced Ivanovic?

Ivanovic got to the final in Melbourne, but lost to Cibulkova, a wildcard entrant. Fittingly, Wozniacki is a wildcard entrant and could pull the same surprise as Cibulkova did over Ivanovic.

The final will be played at 11pm British time.

Okay, it was awful. :help: I won 5 tournament, I won 5 of the last 6 torunaments and I can't make a GS SF!! :help: :o :o :o

Maybe Lena should play only in GS tournaments. :o
