Today I played my semi final match and am extatic to imform you that I won and am in the finals. I unfourtunatly had to beat a friend and very respectable opponent to make it, Sam Stosur. We started of with the coin toss and then a hug for good luck. I won the cointoss so I decided to serve and the game was off! My serve was reall on and I held faily easily, In the second game I broke sam and con so,lidated. I knew i really was cruising now so I took the next game to lead four to love. Sam then held, followed by me holding again, followed but me taking the set. I was reall hoping to hold it out know. I kne there was one more set. Meanwhile me and Sam heard ruckess in the locker room, so we conviniently took a bath room break. What did we see. What else but robots Li Na and Elena Vesnina beating up Althea Gibson. I thought to myself, no wonder she didnt make our match. Luckily Sam came to the rescue and we set Althea free. We then went back to our match. I had lost a bit of momrentum and I let Same get three gaes off of me. Luckily I finished it off 6-1 6-3. I will face Maria Sharapova now. The last time we played was on grass. I won in three reallly tight nes after she had five match points. Im off to my massage!

In a time period of just 4 hours, Maria Sharapova and Daniela Hantuchova, who are ranked 5 and 6 respectively, have defeated the world's number 1 AND 2. On court first was Daniela Hantuchova and Samantha Stosur who is number 2. She won it in 2 easy sets, 6-1 6-3.

30 minutes later, Maria Sharapova and the world's number 1 Amelie Mauresmo stepped on court. Amelie Mauresmo was on a long winning streak, but Sharapova looked to end it right there and she stepped it up. This was the fourth meeting between the two, and Mauresmo was leading 3-0 with all wins coming on the Rebound Ace surface.

The match was full of momentums. Sharapova had the first, going up 2-0. But then it passed on to Amelie Mauresmo as she took the next 4 games, but then it shifted back to Sharapova's way to level the match at 4-4. From there, it was holds of serve and both pushed it into a tiebreak. From there, Sharapova looked comfortable, winning it 7-1. The highlight of the set was Sharapova's good footwork and defence, when she hit a left handed passing shot down-the-line. The first 6 games were all equal, when one would break, the other would break back and if one held serve so would her opponent. But from there, Sharapova stepped it up a gear and took the last 3 games and the match when she hit a backhand crosscourt winner, to notch up her first win over the world's number 1 and move into her first final, where she will play world number 6, Daniela Hantuchova.

The last time they played was a grasscourt event in the semifinals, where Hantuchova won in 3 very tight sets, holding off 5 match points. 3-6 6-4 7-6. Sharapova is still looking for her first singles title, while Hantuchova is trying to capture her third.

Congratulations Maria, into your first final, how do you feel?
Wow, it feels great. I've come close before but actually doing it now, winning against the world's number 1 just feels so amazing.

You've played against Daniela before, and you lost in a REALLY tight match. What are you going to do differently here?
Well, obviously I have to play my game, like I did last time, but what I need to do differently here is maybe try to hold my nerve. As you know, last time I had 5 match points but couldn't convert, maybe because I was too excited for the finals and I tried to play it safe. But yeh, I will have to try my best, she is a good player.

What did you do differently today then the first three times you played Amelie?
Well obviously, Amelie was VERY comfortable on the Rebound Ace, it's like she was born on it, and I'm more comfortable on the hard court more than she is. So that was a big different and I think that helped me a little bit, but today, I tried my best, I took care of my side of the net. Overall, it was one of my best matches so far.

The score didn't seem like it was very hard.
Yeh, it seems easier than it was. But you know, I can admit that was one high quality match, about 7 games went to deuce and it could've easily been a third set match.

You are good friends with Daniela, will it be harder to play a friend?
Well, it usually is, but you know, it's a game of tennis, you have a winner and the runner up. We can't do anything about it. But you know, may the best player wins. I will be happy whoever wins, she is a great player and a great champion. But it might be nice to just give it to me, as she has won 2 titles already *laughter*

Maria Sharapova has won her first title today in the Nordea Nordic Light Open, defeating Daniela Hantuchova in the finals. Sharapova who is the number 3 seed, avoided an upset on day one, by defeating Elena Vesnina, 4-6 7-5 7-5. But after that, she crused through the draw, defeating Tatiana Golovin 6-4 6-4 in the Quarterfinals, and beating Amelie Mauresmo for the first time in four meetings 7-6 6-3 and in the finals, Daniela Hantuchova.

Sharapova got the early start, breaking Hantuchova and holding serve both to love. Hantuchova got on the board the next game and both held their serve until 4-2. Sharapova broke Hantuchova again to 15 and held her own serve to win the first set 6-2, hitting a magnificent backhand crosscourt winner.

Sharapova, again displaying the first set performance, broke Hantuchova at the first opportunity and the second, she lost only 2 points in the first 3 games. Hantuchova then had her first 3 break points on Sharapova's serve but only needed one to break Sharapova. This break of serve continued for the next 3 games and Sharapova was 1 game away from the championship. Sharapova haven't held serve for the last 2 times, and it looks to be the case again when she was down 0-40. But Sharapova never gives up and she is well known for her mental toughness. She took the game back to deuce, and got the advantage after hitting a backhand dropshot winner. She serves an ace down the "T" and won her first title.

Jelena Dokic has been struggling as of late in singles competiton having now been on a 5 match losing streak. The former world #3 has turned things around in doubles though having been one of the top competitors.
Jelena Dokic started off the season with extra weight that she wanted to get rid of.

Dokic would continue to slump in singles losing in 1st round of the Australian Open. Dokic enetered the doubles with Tatiana Golovin and made a shock run to the final before going down to the Russians.

Dokic and Hantuchova made the final and will take on Mauresmo and Chakvetadze in the battle for the #1 doubles ranking. If Mauresmo/Chakvetadze win, Mauresmo will be #1, but if Dokic/Hantuchova win, Dokic will be #1.
"This match is important to me and Daniela. If we win it will be a definite confidence booster and might help me produce singles wins soon."
Dokic lost around 15kg since the start of her career on WSC and is feeling fit.
"I feel the fittest I've ever been in my life, I want to bring more results and be on top of both singles and doubles rankings."

Featuring top men players including Novak Djokovic, Fernando Gonzalez, Marat Safin and Paul-Henri Mathieu the Adidas shoot showed off their latest tennis creations most eyes on Maria Kirilenko’s attire designed by fashion expert Stella McCartney. After a short photo shoot where she modelled Stella new range, Kirilenko then hit the courts in the attire before have an autograph and media session. Hitting with good friend Anna Chakvetadze, many photographers were presents taking pictures of the Russian pair.
