OZTENNIS May 9th, 2008, 12:13 PM 'I'm Sick of Losing...Look Out Rome'
http://www.theage.com.au/ffximage/2008/01/25/majmoore_narrowweb__300x385,0.jpg
Rome, ITALY - A desperate, yet determined Jessica Moore today arrived in Rome in preparation for the 2008 Italian Open. The 17-year old's form has been patchy at best in recent times, but she is very motivated to rectify this trend.
'I'm attractive, I'm popular and I've got game, but I haven't been able to put it together in recent times. So I'm coming right out in saying this, but I think I will win here this week. I'm now experienced enough to take on the top girls - on and off the court - and I'm not afraid. My forehand has always been my big weapon, but now I think my backhand and my serve are just as capable.'
'I haven't come here this week to lose first round, that's for sure. My coach and I have been working on some key issues with my game, and I feel much more confident coming into this week. I am sliding into my shots a lot better, and just feeling the ball better. I can't wait to get out there and hit the match court.'
Jessica was then asked about the lack of ''off court bitching,'' by the Roman journalists. Moore scoffed and then said, 'Well I think it's obvious that there aren't many that can match Nikki and I on or off the court. I think that heaps of the girls have now realised this and have swallowed their pride and shut the fat lips. Obviously, Golovin is the main one and she has put as much effort into her interviews as she does into her appearance and her results have just gotten worse. Has she even won a match since January?'
The cheeky teenager then opened up a can of worms saying, 'She is an embarrassment to the OWTT circuit. It is a disgrace to the tour that she was ever the world's top player. I think most players would agree with me that she is the most overrated player on the circuit, and also the biggest tart. She goes for anything that moves, and not just male fans. I've seen her try to tempt umpires into a favourable decision by lifting her skirt and showing her red knickers. The umpires choke back their disgust as she then struts towards the chair and does some vulgar movements. I think it's disgusting behaviour.'
But she was much kinder (but no less truthful) when talking about Shahar Peer. 'Shahar has proved to the world that she is the best player. When her game is on, she is untouchable. Her forehand is supreme and her backhand effortless. She has beaten me four times, twice in straight sets, so I completely believe that she is just an awesome player, and is the player to beat here in Rome, and of course in Paris.'
Moore was then quizzed on her goals for the remainder of the season. 'Well, to be honest, I was hoping to be No.1 by the end of Wimbledon, but I don't see that happening at the moment, the competition is too strong. So realistically, I'd like to be top 10 after Wimbledon and top 5 after the US Open. I think I'm in with a good shot at No.1 by the end of the season.'
Stay tuned for how the unspoken teenager goes this week ;)

Slutati May 9th, 2008, 06:16 PM Golovin outclasses Vaidisova
Former world number 1, Tatiana Golovin, is finally showing some form again as she upset world number 4, Nicole Vaidisova in the second round in Berlin. Tatiana, still struggling with an injury, lost the first set 7:5 before she regrouped and took the second and third by 6:1 and 6:3.

The winner Tatiana Golovin and the loser Nicole Vaidisova shake hands after their match
A short interview with Tatiana after the match
Congrats, Tatiana. Now honestly, is this your favorite victory?
"Well obviously(laughter). Yeah, I'm very pleased with this match, I think I played quite well. I really gave it my all, I fought for every single point and it paid off. My ankle was so sore after the first set, but I just told myself I have to keep fighting and yeah it was great. If I was playing against anybody else I would have retired...well except Moore, I would keep going against her. Oh and Davenport too...And yeah, probably against Shahar Peer, but I would retire against any other girl(laughter)."
What did you tell her at the net when you shook hands?
"Oh, I just told her congrats, loser. Cuz that's what she is, you know (laughter). A loser (puts an L on her forehead)."
All three of those players you…let's say "dislike" lost already. How does that make you feel?
"Let's say hate(laughter). Oh really, I didn't even know. Well I knew about Vaidisova(laughter). So Moore lost, huh? Very nice, I'm very very pleased. She's a bitch you know, so she obviously deserves it. It's called karma, she was always a bitch to me, and I don't even know why. She's not a top player, well she's not even a player, she's just a ho. She's trying to get public to notice her by dissing the hottest and the best player, Tatiana Golovin. I guess it's working, but everyone's making fun of her, because she's such a loser. I kinda feel sorry for her pathetic ass, but then again I don't. She's like those high school losers nobody talks to you know(laughter)? She thinks she's all that cuz she gets to hang out with Vadisova, but it's not like they're friends. Vaidisova uses her to carry her bags and stuff, she's more of a personal assistant. But who would even want to be friends with Vaidisova? She's not very popular either, ever since someone told the media about the Radek+Nicole+Jessica triangle, about their weird manage-a-trois, people are avoiding them. No wonder, they're nasty."
So what about Peer? You have been awfully quiet on her lately?
"Well, I don't really mind Shahar that much anymore. I mean sure, she says some weird stuff from time to time, but that's what she's like. And also, she beat me once, you know. I always respect the players that beat me, so I don't feel the need to hate on her, as she doesn't hate on me either."
Thanks, Tatiana and good luck for the rest of the tournament!
"Thanks, but as I said, I don't care if I never win another match, now that I beat Vaidisova. I'm also happy that I managed to beat Petrova for the first time, as she gave me two beatdowns before(laughter). I'm enjoying tennis, despite my injuries. Life is great."

Heartbreak for Ivanovic here, who had 5 match points in the second set tie-break. Tough break for her, as the CT was decisive. Ivanovic would have gone on to the final where it also would have come down to a CT  - Gisela moves on into another semi, and will be looking to take the trophy here as well after her victory in Berlin. She is looking very tough to beat.

Great win for Stosur, as Schnyder is a difficult opponent. Stosur really stepped it up from 2-2 in the third, and closed it out without trouble, which had been her downfall in past tournaments. Sam is playing great ball this week, and she makes her first semifinal - well done! :)

Still a good result for me. I want to experiment more with my new points though.

Golovin def. (6)Olaru
2-6 6-4 6-3
Wow! Golovin follows up her stnning win over #4 Vaidisova with an equally impressive victory over #6 Olaru. A little bit of luck on Golovin's side, winning the CT - otherwise would have been 7-5 to Olaru in third set  - this should give Golovin a huge confidence boost after struggling for form recently. Can she repeat what she did way back in Gold Coast?

Whacky match from these two - but the third set was a thrilling affair. Dechy was SO close to winning this one - with 2 CTs in the final set, and being 5-3 up. But, Dementieva is such a fighter and so difficult to close out. She is the strongest, mentally, on tour when it comes to the tie-breaks, and she moves into yet another semifinal - she is becoming the most consistent performer on tour right now!

The world #1 overcomes a tough challenge from the fiesty Aussie. Stosur should be proud of her week, making her first semifinal and taking the #1 so close... hopefully we will see some good things from her in the next few weeks. Dulko makes her 4th final of the season and will look to repeat her success of last week in Berlin in the final.

Close match between these two. Nice to see Golovin back to some kind of decent form, after really struggling since inning the debut OWTT event in Gold Coast. Dementieva moves in to another final, and is still looking to break through and win her first title. She will have a tough time of it though as she faces world #1 Gisela Dulko is a #1 Vs. #2 showdown!

The #2 takes out the #1!! Whacky first two sets, but both players brought their best tennis in the third set. Dementieva started the more confidently, going into a 4-1 lead, but Dulko hot back with some stunnning tennis, to leave things poised at 4-4. But, it was Dementieva who really went for her shots, and it paid off, as she held serve, before winning the match on Dulko's serve on her third match point - Dementieva finally wins her first Tier-I title, and she now joins Dulko, Olaru, Peer and Davenport as 2-time winners on OWTT :yeah: - Another good week for Dulko though, and she will keep her #1 ranking despite losing to Dementieva today.
