if you ask me this Watson girl is not seriously trying to compete in any of these events. Its also a bit weird that she is at this message board cheering for other players. I doubt she is even a real player

Then you should check the alt lists of the US tourneys a bit more closely.

:weirdo: Do you think it's cheap to go to and play a tourney? Yes, she is not taking it as seriously as professional players do, but she's serious enough, and her main aim is to have fun doing what she enjoys, not win matches or something.

If she said she's one of the upcoming juniors, maybe one could doubt, but saying she's a player who's constantly on the alt list and never played any tourney? :haha:

OK,
Lacy has had a dream of playing a pro event. She does not want to be a pro player. She just likes to play and wants to fufill her dream. She graduates college the same weekend as Landisville Qualies. I have talked to hear for a while and she just wants to play pro tennis, not as a career.

Exactly my thought, after seeing the q draw! What an opportunity she's missing. :(

it's finals week. :p I was originally planning on trying to go since I have family in the area I could stay with, but my professors gave me a hard time about missing finals so whatever.

Thanks Joey, Gigi, Sarah, and everyone else who's stuck up for me here. Joey's exactly right about this, I live in the Northeast (which isn't exactly a tennis hotbed), I'm 24 years old, and I'm on the verge of graduating college in a mound of debt with no financial support from my parents. I can't just travel to every tournament, I've got to pick and choose which tournaments are financially feasible for me to go to. Unfortunately, Landisville is one of them, but I've been through way too much in collegiate career to skip walking across that stage to receive my diploma. Hammond fell on my spring break so it was perfect for me to go to. I'm using money from my tax returns to go to Hilton Head. I have no aspirations of having a pro career or even playing on the pro circuit fairly regularly. I just want to go out and have fun. Whether I win a match or two or get double bagelled in every match I play, I'm just out there for the experience and to have fun. I have never come on here claiming to be a pro player or anything even close to that.

And I can't thank the majority of you enough for being so supportive of me. You guys really know how it is to have a dream and to chase it. For somebody else, well it's just not worthy of a response on my end. (Unless if you want to sponsor me of course, so I could go to more tournaments!)

it's finals week.

Too bad you can't make the tourney then. :( It'd be pretty cool to play some ITFs - even if it's just for fun. ;) Maybe you should come to Australia (yeah, I know - money issues) coz they are usually piss weak $25ks here at the end of the year. ;)

Excellent post and best of luck to you on the tennis courts and on your post-collegiate career. That's the cool thing about the satellite tournaments. Anyone with a dream and a few dollars to spare can have a go at it. Hey, I'm 46, a 4.5 player on my very, very, very best days, but I'm thinking of signing up for the qualies in a satellite tournament if one ever comes to the Atlanta area. Just to say, "Hey, I played a pro tournament once!" Of course, it probably would irritate the heck out of some aspiring pro, and I'm sure I'd get clocked 6-0, 6-0. My goal would be to win a few points here and there! Bet you'll do a lot better than that, Lacy. Good luck!

KIM! So close to a final, one would think after you won the second you'd be able to take the match. Look foward to the report.

I was there today and will be writing a report (similar to my Amelia Island one) soon! :)

Also, Tatishvili/Couts won their doubles match 7-6(3), 6-3, saving nine set points in the first! Very high quality stuff all day.

Looking forward to it. ;)

But how could they save 9 set points, when there is no-ad rule in doubles. :o Did they have like 40-0 in 3 games? :spit:
