Warren's Schedule Challenge!!!!!!! Warren's Schedule Challenge!!!!!!!!! Warren's Schedule Challenge!!!!!!!!! Warren's Schedule Challenge!!!!!!!!!!! Warren's Schedule Challenge!!!!!!!!!!! Warren's Schedule Challenge!!!!!!!!!!!
As we all know, the name of this tour is Warren's Schedule Challenge!!! So guess what - there is a challege to the schedule that you have chosen for the rebound ace season and every season to follow. The following applies to the following players:
If you have not played a rebound ace event in preparation for the Australian Open you will have -1 to 5 randomly chosen attributes for this tournament. You are exempt if you have won a singles or doubles title.
If you played in Portoroz instead of Moorilla last week you will have -1 to 3 randomly chosend attributes for this tournament. The flight to Melbourne and playing a grass court event will certainly have some effect on your players attributes. You are exempt if you have 5 or more articles points or have blogged from an event.
More to come!!!

Welcome to Melbourne, Australia, everyone for our first grand slam of the season. It has been a pleasure directing WSC and I'm hoping that the game will grow in time! The overwhleming favorite and no. 1 seed coming into this years first slam is the impressive Amelie Mauresmo. She boasts an 14-2 record, has won 3 consecutive singles titles, and remains undefeated on the rebound ace surface. The no. 2 seed and homecrowd favorite is Samantha Stosur. Although she has not won a rebound ace event this season, the Indian Wells champ appeared in the Gold Coast and Moorilla final and is comfortable on this surface.
http://www.sonyericssonwtatour.com/3/global/photogallery/melbourne_week1/f_31.jpg
Although rebound ace is not the third seed, Daniela Hantuchova's best surface, she has won two consecutive titles on two different surfaces leading up to this event and will be looking to make a name for herself of this surface. Steffi Graf is the no. 4 seed heading into the Aussie Open and will also be looking to go far in the draw. The Estoril Champ is a smart player and should not be underestimated at this event.
http://www.sonyericssonwtatour.com/3/global/photogallery/melbourne_week1/f_22.jpg
Elena Dementieva, Maria Sharapova, Svetlana Kuznetsova, and Justine Henin are seed 5-8 respectively. None has tasted title glory as of yet in WSC, but all are consistant players and will aslo be looking to do well here in Australia. Good luck to everyone!!!

J. Henin Training in Melbourne, Where She Hopes to Make a Deep Run
Justine Henin is already training hard in Melbourne in preparation for the Australian Open which starts on monday. Justine has shown some good Rebound Ace form in recent weeks finishing Runner-Up in Sydney (I) and Semi-Finalist in Hobart (II), with both losses coming to RA Queen Amelie Mauresmo who is undefeated on the surface. Fortunately for Justine she has been drawn on the opposite side of the draw to Amelie, however her draw is by no means easy, first up she has Jill Craybas and she could potentially face tough russian Maria Kirilenko in the second round. Second Seed Samantha Stosur should also be waiting in the Quarterfinals.
"I am definitely very pleased to be in the bottom half away from Amelie, but it is still very tough, Sam is of course also a very tough player who is great on the surface. I really hope somebody can take out Amelie, just to mix things up, I mean she has won everything on this surface, its getting old."
http://img388.imageshack.us/img388/5688/wimbledon06129zv6.jpg
Together Again At Last, Daniela And Justine To reunite for Doubles
Justine will also reunite with her original doubles partner Daniela Hantuchova for the doubles event, where they should be the second seed (Hantuchova is #2, Henin #3). The pair teamed up in the Gold Coast Tournament where they came away with the title. Justine also came away witht he doubles title with Davenport in Sydney, but surprisingly was knocked out in the first round in Hobart with Sam Stosur. Hopefully Team Hentuchova can do some serious damage at the first Grand Slam of the season.

Daniela-Is-Mine May 9th, 2008, 02:20 AM Hentuchova is Back!
http://i31.photobucket.com/albums/c371/moomoopoopoo/rara2-1.jpg
The WSC season started off as quiet and small tour but has expanded to become one othe greatest games on the wtaworld.com tennisforum.com games section. A lot of stars have come out of this including the top three Amelie Mauresmo off France Sam Stosur of Australia and Slovak Daniela Hantuchova. Daniela Hantuchova has made a name for herself winning titles on her second and third favorate surfaces. Daniela hopes to win her first "evil" rebound Ace tournament here at the Australian Open. Speaking of the Oz Open HENTUCHOVA IS BACK and stronger than ever. In their time apart Daniela hase made two doubles finals. Henin has won a title but was ousted early last week. Henin and Hantuchova are very excited to play together again.
"She's extremly talented and my friend so I hope we can win." said a happy Hantuchova "We would love to win this Slam"

Hi everybody! I'm gonna be blogging throughout the Australian Open, it's the first grandslam for WSC,it's quite exciting! I came here shortly after the doubles final in Portoroz, and I've really been working on my serve, since I struggled with it alot against Steffi.
Today, I woke up at about 9, had a smoothie then went to the courts with my coach, where we worked on my serve some more, and my volleys. After practice I showered, and then went to lunch with Maria Sharapova and Maria Kirilenko, two of my good friends. I was a bad girl and had Orange Chicken and fried rice:devil: Then we did some shopping and I bought some really cute shoes! At 3 Maria S and I went to practice together, and we worked on some doubles strategies. We then played a match, which I won 7-5,7-5. Well I'm off to sleep as I've got a 7AM practice:help:

Maria Sharapova is getting ready for WSC's first grandslam, Australian Open and she says that she is ready to win her first singles title, and grandslam. She is working her game towards the undefeated Rebound Ace champion, Amelie Mauresmo. She will also be playing doubles with Ashley Harkleroad and says that she wants to continue this partnership after having won a doubles title last week. It was their first tournament together.
Sharapova jumped up the rankings to number 6 in the world from a strong performance last week, where she lost in the semifinals to eventual champion Daniela Hantuchova.
She is the number 6 seed and recieves a bye in the first round and could face either, American Serena Williams, or fellow Russian Elena Vesnina. She could meet the number 3 seed this week, and friend, Daniela Hantuchova in the Quarters and who could be waiting for them in the semis is Amelie Mauresmo. Number 7 seed, Svetlana Kuznetsova is in Amelie's quarter and rounds up the top half of the draw. In the bottom half, Justine Henin, the number 8 seed, Steffi Graf, the number 4 seed, Elena Dementieva, the number 6 seed, and home favourite, Samantha Stosur, the number 2 seed, rounds up the bottom half.
Sharapova says that she wants to do well here, not only in singles but in doubles.

http://www.wtnphotos.com/data/593/ashelayausopen.jpg
Hey Everyone:wavey: Today was an exciting day, the start of the Australian Open! I had to play first match, so I only had time for a quick hit before the match. My opponent was russian Anna Chakvetadze, This was my first time playing her, so I didnt know what to expect. I played extreemly well, I was moving Anna around not letting her control the points, which was the key to the match. I ended up winning 6-3,6-2, and I'm very happy with my performance, especially since she likes this surface better than I do. Next up is #1 Amelie Mauresmo:help: Amelie loves this surface, and has not lost a match on it! I'm going to have to be at my very best, and have a little luck if I'm going to win. Of course I want to win, but I'm going to have fun out there and not get upset if things don't go my way. I'll use this match as a learning experience:p
After my match today, I went and got a bite to eat with Maria(I had some really good pasta) then we worked on our volleys for a while. I watched The Notebook tonight and I cried, even though I've seen it like 1000 times:lol: Pray for me, I'll need all the help I can get to beat Amelie:lol:
Hugs and Kisses
Ash

Shafanovic May 12th, 2008, 11:02 PM Sharapova Showdown With Serena
http://tennisforum.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=51597&stc=1&d=1210628593
Serena Williams has won her first round match today against Russian, Elena Vesnina, and sets up clash with number 6 seed, Maria Sharapova. Maria Sharapova was watching the match and says that Serena will be a tough opponent but she says that she will try her best to win.
She says that Serena has a great forehand, especially the crosscourt and her volleys were also good. Sharapova and Williams will play their second round encounter tomorrow, and Sharapova is the slight favourite coming into this match as she hasn't lost a rebound ace match, except the "Rebound Ace Queen" of course, in the two RA tournaments she has entered this year. Sharapova lost to Mauresmo in the Gold Coast in the second round and faltered to Mauresmo again the next week, in Sydney, in the Semifinals. Sharapova also made it to the semifinals of the Banka Koper Classic, losing in a tight match to Slovak Daniela Hantuchova, but won the doubles title with Ashley Harkleroad, and they are partnered up again for this grandslam.
http://i75.photobucket.com/albums/i319/russiasw19/oncourt/miami033.jpg
Sharapova was also watching her best friend on the tour play, Ashley Harkleroad. As she was playing against Anna Chakvetadze. Sharapova looked on to her friend winning in straight sets, 6-3 6-2. Harkleroad will now face Chakvetadze's doubles partner and Rebound Ace Queen, Amelia Mauresmo, the pair will also be Sharapova and Harkleroad's toughest competition in the doubles. Sharapova says that "Ashley has been playing very well and her groundstrokes and volleys have improved, so I want to follow in her footsteps and try to do the same, and hopefully we can do that in the doubles."

Daniela-Is-Mine May 13th, 2008, 01:10 AM Australian Open 2008 Could She win this?
http://www.wtnphotos.com/data/532/20060116_03_56573856ap015_australian_op.jpg
Daniela Hantuchova has proven herself deserving of bieng one of the top three on th WSC Tour. During her first two weeks on the touyr sahe felt out of place and didnt come up ith any positive results but with the next three weeks she'd prove herself as dangerous. On her first regular season tournament in Sydney Daniela won a match agaist far better Rebound Ace-r than herself,in the next round she was downed by Rebound Ace expert Amelie Mauresmo. In the fourth week of play over all. Daniela took a trip to Kolakata India to play on her second favorite sureface, indoor carpet. Daniela flew through all her matches downing Serena Williams, Dinara Safina and Nadia Petrova respectivly. In the fifth week Daniela went to play on her third favorite surface which was also her third worse, grass. She flew to Porotoz to take on the Tier one. Daniela beat two experts and one solid grass courter to win the title. On her way she beat Francesca Sciavone, Maria Sharaapova, Althea Gibson and Steffi Graf to take the title. That brings us tto the Australian OPen Daniela has made upsets but can she take down good rebound ace-rs can she beat tje unstopable Mauresmo. We shall see. Daniela's answer...

GracefulVenus May 13th, 2008, 01:18 AM Danny almost a level 4 player!!!
Uranium May 13th, 2008, 01:47 AM Dokic in a Slump
http://www.abc.net.au/reslib/200601/r69648_193417.jpg
Melbourne, Australia
Jelena Dokic came into this Grand Slam hoping to turn things around since being on a 3 match losing streak. Dokic today took on Maria Kirilenko. Dokic is a fair player on Rebound Ace, but surely doesn't like it.
In set 1, Dokic tried to overpower Maria, by hitting hard and using her usual game, but it didn't work as Maria used her finesse to draw Maria forward and use her crosscourt backhand to hit passing shots. Dokic was broken twice in the first set by Maria and only won 15 points on serve. Dokic played well, but her 20 unforced errors in set 1 killed her chances.
http://www.theage.com.au/ffximage/2006/01/16/17DOKIC.jpg
Set 2, Dokic tried to get the crowd into the match and behind her so she can get pumped up and play better. Dokic started mixing her serve around and improved her returns to give Maria more of a test. Dokic started to find more of a rhythm by hitting more winners. But it was a little too late as Maria at 2-2, got another break and ran away with the match with her crosscourt winners.
Dokic in her post match interview said, "I am definately upset with my play lately, I went from being #3 in the world to now #14 and probably a lot lower. I need to get out of this slump. I really wanted to do well this summer in front of my home crowd, but my play was just not up to par. Now I go into the clay season, which is my worst, so I really hope to try to find a way to keep my hopes up and try to turn my luck around. I am also looking forward to playing doubles, but I need a partner and will try to get one soon."
Uranium May 13th, 2008, 02:14 AM Dokic/Golovin doubles?
Daniela-Is-Mine May 13th, 2008, 03:09 AM Danny almost a level 4 player!!!
How many more do I need.
Technically Im almost level 3. 10ish more articles and a dubs title ahha
Daniela-Is-Mine May 13th, 2008, 03:44 AM Daniela takes a shot at predicting!
http://i31.photobucket.com/albums/c371/moomoopoopoo/hantuchova_08preview1.jpg
Today the WSC forced asked Daniela Hantuchova, Slovakian Superstar and world number three to make predictionss about the Round of 16 matched here is what Daniela Had to say. hells to the now
(1)Amelie Mauresmo vs. Ashley Harlkeroad
Wow, this match is tough, I feel bad that Ash has to face such an opponent. This wilol be interesting to watch because Ash hates rebound Ace. I say Amelie in 2 just because of the surface.
Dinara Safina vs. Robot 1 Francesca Schiavone
Dinara will win this easily I think and hope. Even though this isnt Dinara's best surface I think she'll win in straghts
(6)Maria Sharapova vs. Serena Williams
This is the toughest to call. These ladies have never met eachother on the court so I dont know who to say. Sharapova has been more consistent so Sharapova in three.
(4)Steffi Graf vs. Marta Domachowska
Steffi is a confident player but can she back it up against Marta who is a tough opponent even though shes not seeded. Marta in two maybe three.
Nicole Vaidisova vs. (6)Elena Dementieva
Elena has done well this season making consistent results but Nicole has caused some tough upsets. Since Elena has a bit more expeience on this surface I pick them in 3.
(8) Justine Henin vs. Maria Kirilenko
Grudge match!! My dubs partner vs. a good friend. They have played many times before so I think the dynamic will be interesting. I say it goes to three sets for sure.
(2)Samantha Stosur vs. Mielen Tu
Sam will please the home crowd with a double bagle over this robot! Aussie Aussie Aussie!
GracefulVenus May 13th, 2008, 04:39 AM Thanks for the article Jelena and predictions Danny +2 for both you guys!!

Jill Craybas (USA) vs Daniela Hantuchova (SVK)[3]
H2H: First meeting
My pick: Hantuchova has won 2 tournaments in a row now and won't lose to Craybas. Hantuchova in 2.
Amelie Mauresmo (FRA)[1] vs Ashley Harkleroad (USA)
H2H: Ashley Harkleroad leads Amelie Mauresmo 1-0
Indian Wells: Ashley Harkleroad def. Amelie Mauresmo 4-6 6-2 6-3
My pick: The "Rebound Ace Queen" has not lost a match on this surface and I don't think she will today, as much as I'd like Ash to win. Mauresmo in 2.
Nicole Vaidisova (CZE) vs Elena Dementieva (RUS)[5]
H2H: First meeting
My pick: I think Elena will win this one, the doubles expert has been more consistent but I think it will be a great match. Dementieva in 3.
Rod Laver Arena

Samantha Stosur (AUS)[2] vs Meilen Tu(USA)
H2H: First meeting
My pick: Both of them got a bye yesterday, but obviously over the past, Samantha Stosur has been the more consistent player, so Stosur in 2.

Justine Henin (BEL)[8] vs Maria Kirilenko (RUS)
H2H: Justine Henin leads Maria Kirilenko 1-0
Sydney: Justine Henin def. Maria Kirilenko 7-5 7-6

My pick: Steffi Graf is more consistent and I think she will make it to the Quarters. Graf in 2.

J.Craybas def. (3) D. Hantuchova 6-2, 6-3 and upsets the no. 3 seed in the round of 16 of the Australian Open. Jill's cross-court backhand and mental toughness was just too much for Danny on the court today.

GAME - SET - MATCH
POWER!!!
(6) M. Sharapova
http://www.wtnphotos.com/data/594/ameliaisland2008.jpg
(6) M. Sharapova def. S. Williams 7-6, 7-6 and proves that she is a seed here at the Australian Open by advancing to the final eight. This was another tight affair, but Maria's cross-court backhand and power just devastated Serena in the two tie-breaks.

Ashley I would be crying too. It was a great match. But now you see what you have to do for the rest of the season ;) Great match Amelie :worship:

(1) A. Mauresmo

(1) A. Mauresmo def. A. Harkleroad 6-7, 7-6, 7-6 and squeezes by the American to gain access to the quarter-finals of our first grand slam. Ashley hand her chances to end the match at the end of the second, but Amelie's backhand down the line and cross court dashed any hopes that the American had of upseting the no. 1 seed. Great match!!!:worship:
There shouldn't be a tiebreak in the third set of a grandslam. Make the final set score up.. like 8-6 9-7 and so on... :D
Ceze May 13th, 2008, 10:21 PM Mauresmo wins the battle of nerves!
http://images.google.fr/url?q=http://www.cbc.ca/sports/indepth/gfx/mauresmo-amelie-060708-gett.jpg&usg=AFQjCNH54KqaD5SQauohUswaDfRzxQPgjg
Amelie Mauresmo snatched her ticket for the quarter-finals at Melbourne on a final-set tie-break.
In the second round of the Australian Open, the World No1 Mauresmo beat American Ashley Harkleroad in an arduous three-set, triple-tie-breaker test of each player's nerve that concluded in a 6-7, 7-6, 7-6 victory for the French player. She didn't play in the first round as she received a bye.
Mauresmo said: "Ashley never gives up and she's a real fighter. It's a question of nerves in the tie-breaks. It wasn't easy to come back from the loss of the first set, but I never give up too. Now I'm focused on my next match."
The matchup was a repeat of the Indian Wells quarter-final meeting won by Harkleroad 4-6, 6-2, 6-3.
Mauresmo remains unbeaten in eleven matches on rebound ace. She has reached the quarter-finals or better in all the tournaments so far, and her only loss in quarter-finals happened at Indian Wells against... Harkleroad.
"It's another quarter-finals for me and gives confidence," Mauresmo said. "Ashley is one of the best players on the Tour and she proved it today again."
Mauresmo said the strong heat throughout the nearly three-hour match made it difficult for both players to play well.
"It's been tough, it's been the biggest opponent for both of us," Mauresmo said. "I'm a little bit tired because of the heat, not because of the tough match."
"The serve let me down a little bit, especially at the end of the second set, when I led 5-2" Mauresmo said. "Not enough first serves in, definitely, and a few volleys here and there that I had the occasion to put away and I didn't. ... Plus she played well in the key moments in the first set. But overall I'm really satisfied with my game today. It was an excellent test for me. I had to play my best tennis to be through. I'm really happy to be in the quarter-finals, even if at the moment I don't know who's my opponent."
We can tell her that in the quarter-finals she will play Dinara Safina, who defeated seventh seed Svetlana Kuznetsova in the first round, and Francesca Schiavone in the second round. It will be their second meeting, after last week in the quarter-finals at Hobart, Mauresmo winning 6-2, 6-4.
Shafanovic May 13th, 2008, 10:26 PM Sharapova Squeezes Through Serena in Straight Sets
http://www.tennis.com/uploadedImages/Tournaments/2007/Sony_Ericsson_Open/General/2007_03_22_SharapovaSerena_article.jpg
Maria Sharapova has made it through to the Quarterfinals of the first grandslam in the WSC after defeating Serena Williams in two. We expected a great battle from the two and we did.
Serena started out well, breaking Sharapova's serve to 15 and managed to hold her own serve to love with some power. Sharapova got on the board the next game, by holding her serve. 2-1 to Serena Williams. The next game, Williams had to save 3 break points but managed to hold her serve and was still in the lead. Maria Sharapova also had to fight off break points and managed to not go 2 breaks down and held her serve. 3-2 to Serena Williams. A determined Sharapova was set, and she broke Williams's serve to love to level the match and held her own serve to gain the lead for the first time in the match but all was on serve. 4-3 to Maria Sharapova. Williams's then held her serve and level the match. A strong Serena outhit Sharapova in the next game. Breaking to 15, she was one game away from the set and she will have the chance to serve it out.
5-4 to Serena Williams. An injury timeout during the changeover from Maria Sharapova seemed to help, as she broke Williams to love without giving her a chance to serve out the first set. Sharapova followed this on by holding her own serve, again to love and a game awawy from the first set. 6-5 to Maria Sharapova. Serena Williams, willing to get the first set to a tiebreak, chased everyball down. She held serve and the first set, goes to a tiebreak. A tired Serena, from the previous game, couldn't chase every ball down, and Sharapova was hitting the ball flat and hard and she outhit Serena from the start. Sharapova got the 5-1 lead, and a long rally between the two players, was "oooohhh"ing the crowd, with lobs, dropshots, crosscourt, down-the-line going everywhere, but Sharapova got the better of Williams, when she hit a defensive lob winner, with her left hand. Sharapova had 5 set points and she only needed one and hit an ace down the "T" to take the set 7-6(1)

The second set was the same story, but nearly all the games were breaks of serve. The first 8 games were breaks of serve  4-4 and they both only won 8 points on their serve each. :help::lol:.
But Williams turned things around as she held her own serve and Sharapova followed her footsteps and she did the same. 5-5. The next two games were holds of serve, and once again it went to a tiebreak. No one could set them two apart in the tiebreak and it was a thrilling second set. 6-5 in the tiebreak to Williams and set point, Sharapova hit an amazing winner off the backhand side and leveled things again at 6-6. Sharapova hit an ace outwide and had the set point at 7-6. Williams did the same and served it out wide. Sharapova then hit a return forehand winner. And she won the match following a long rally between the two, and Sharapova was simply too powerful for her opponent as she hit a long forehand and Sharapova will move to the Quarterfinals to face Jill Craybas who earlier defeated number 3, Daniela Hantuchova in straight sets 6-2 6-3. Sharapova is the favourite there but she said, "You can't expect anything from the matches, like Daniela was a favourite today, but she lost, so you can't be too confident when playing against anyone."
Her partner Ashley Harkleroad, pushed world number 1 to the limit but she lost it, but it could've gone to anyone. The first set, she won 7-6 and lost the second set 6-7. The third set was a thrill as Mauresmo won it 8-6. The match took 3 and a half hours.
Sharapova will play her Quarterfinal match tomorrow, and her doubles, after she recieves a bye past the first round. They are the number 4 seed together.
