Press: Thank you for coming to the interview Serena.

Serena: Thank you for having me.

Press: How do you feel about your quarter of the draw?

Serena: I feel that I'm in quite a tough portion of the draw but I'm going to go out there and play my best tennis and see how far I can get. I've never played of the surface until today.

Press: We heard that you got to practice in London with the Queen in her courts at the palace?

Serena: Yeah, I told her that I didn't know how to play on grass because I mainly know how to play on hard courts and she said that she'd school me on grass. I thought that was like the english people's way of saying teach so I was like "Okay." So she invited me to the palace and we played.

Press: What was the outcome?

Serena: I beat a bitch down.

Press: Score?

Serena: Let's just say she was able to have some bagels with her tea.

Press: Congrats. Meanwhile, back to the tournament, who is your toughest competition?

Serena: Steffi Graff. She's an amazing player on grass, I've seen her practice and she's great.

Press: Do you think you can beat her?

Serena: Anything can happen in tennis, you know? I'm just hoping not to get double bageled.

Press: Thank you for your time Serena.

Sharapova Gets Prepared for Slovenia

Maria Sharapova, just got a new coach last week, and is playing in Slovenia, a grass court tournament, this week. She says that her new coach is already helping her groundstrokes, her serve and even her volleys. She says that she is ready for the tournament and is looking for her first title with her new coach.

But what everyone wants to know is, "what dress is Maria Sharapova going to use for this tournament?"
Well we have got a preview of it.

There it is, the top part of the dress is aqua and the skirt part is white. She gave us a preview during a warm up yesterday.

Maria Sharapova is the number 4 seed here this week, with Steffi Graf, the number 1 seed, Daniela Hantuchova the number 2 seed and Jelena Dokic, the number 3 seed (who is actually ranked the same as Maria Sharapova). Maria is in the bottom half of the draw, so she is in Daniela's half. And number 1 seed Steffi Graf and Jelena Dokic are both in the top half.

The biggest threats in Maria's half would be the number 2 seed Daniela Hantuchova and excellent grass court player, Althea Gibson.

In the first round Steffi Graf gets a bye, Daniela Hantuchova will play the robot Franchesca Schiavone, Jelena Dokic will play another robot Jill Craybas and Maria Sharapova will play another robot Eleni Daniilidou.

Hey this is a Tier I baby and I told ya'll my PC players are here to play. I swear thier points are not hard to beat and they are not ball bashers!!! They all have the exact same points 4-160,and 4-170 just in different attributes. Remeber if you loose to a PC player twice I will send you their points so that you can verify the losses!!! :yeah:

Maria Sharapova has made a strong start in the Banka Koper Open today with her impresssive win, over robot, Eleni Daniilidou. Sharapova started strong hitting big serves and coming up to the net for excellent volleys which she said was helped by her new coach, and is happy with the results.

Maria won the cointoss and chose to recieve, and it was a good decision as she broke to love in the first game and held her own serve to 15 to go up 2-0. Eleni then held her own serve to get on the board and so did Maria with an impressive 2 aces and 1 unreturnable serve in the service game. Maria was up 3-1 and Eleni was serving and she found herself 40-0 up with some impressive groundstrokes, but that all fell apart, when Maria hit some magnificent groundstrokes and following them up to the net, and she won the next 5 points to win the game and had 2 breaks and led 4-1.

But Maria didn't follow this form up in the next game, as she lost the next to games, both to love but was still 4-3 up and it was her serve, she did well, to get her form back on track and she won that game to love with some amazing winners. Eleni had to hold serve to stay in the set, and she did well holding to 15 and gave Maria the chance to close out the set on her own serve.

A long service game from Maria produced some amazing rallies. The game that took 7 minutes, finally went Maria's way, and she took the set 6-4 with an ace down the "T".

The second set was more of a battle from the 2.
Maria got the early lead as she broke Eleni again, but this time, Eleni fought back and broke Maria's serve and held her own serve and was up in the set for the first time 2-1. Maria impressively held her own serve and broke Eleni again to lead 3-2. The next game, Maria came from 2 break points down but manage to hold with some amazing power and net play, as she went up 4-2.

Eleni couldn't find answers to the Maria power and return as she lost her serve once again, and was down 5-2. Maria, serving for the match, looked a little tired and nervous, and gave Eleni 1 break back, and Eleni showed her fighting spirit, coming back from 5-2 down to 5-5, breaking Maria's serve twice. Maria looked disappointed but that didn't phase her in the next game as she broke Eleni again to love and had a third chance to serve out the match, and she showed why she is the number 4 seed this week.

Sharapova served and volleyed the first point and won it on a beautiful touch at the net.
She aced the second and third point and gave her her 4th, 5th and 6th match point, but she only needed one, as she served and volleyed again and she hit a wonderful volley winner and she will have to face Nicole Vaidisova to get to the semis.

Maria said that she was happy with her game today but wasn't happy about letting the 5-2 lead in the second go. She said that her new coach is great and is improving her tennis "majorly".
"He is working especially on my serve and my volleys, because he said that I have good groundstrokes"

Sharapova Serves Her Way Into Semis: Czech Mate

Maria Sharapova has won her Quarterfinal match against Czech Nicole Vaidisova to make it to the semifinals of the Banka Coper Slovenia Open.

Sharapova was to start proceeding and Sharapova came out firing, with aces to win the opening game to 15. Vaidisova responded well as she also held her own serve to 15. Again, Sharapova showed her power, holding serve to love, when Vaidisova netted a forehand.

The next game, was 2 game points up, but Sharapova showed her mental toughness and she won the next 4 points to take the game and broke Vaidisova’s serve for the first time, she got the lead she needed 3-1. A disappointed Vaidisova, basically threw the next game away. With 3 unforced errors, giving Sharapova the 4-1 lead. After talking to her coach at the changeover, Vaidisova held her own serve to 15. Serving very well, with 2 unreturnable serves. 4-2

Sharapova also held her nerves and held her serve, to love with some amazing service powers and amazing groundstrokes, and also volleys. 5-2 and Sharapova was one game away from the set. A disappointed Vaidisova showed her frustration in the next game as she just tried to hit the ball as hard as she could. By making 2 unforced errors and 2 winners from Sharapova’s backhand, Sharapova proved she had too much firepower for the young Czech.

Sharapova, kept her first set form by holding serve to 15. With some beautiful touches and power from the backhand side. But Vaidisova also held serve and was all 2-2 even. The trade of breaks continued for the next 4 games, but Sharapova showed why she is the number 4 seed this week and finally held her serve again, to love. But Vaidisova couldn’t follow in Sharapova’s footsteps as Sharapova broke her serve again and had the 5-3 lead and was able to try to serve out the match.

She did it with great power.
15-0: Sharapova served outwide and it couldn’t be returned
15-15: Forehand down-the-line return winner from Vaidisova
30-15: A long rally, but finally Sharapova lobbed Vaidisova with her left hand
40-15: Ace out wide

Daniela wins first grass title!

The Banka Koper Slovenia Open it a prestegious Tier 1 grass court tournament. Many of the greatest grass courters came along to snag this tile. Many grass court experts came along trying to takie this title inncluding Steffi Graf, jene Dokic, and Althea Gibson. World number 7 Daniela Hantuchova of Slovakia came to this tournament prepared as the secoind seed, but she was not playing on her favorite surface. Daniela was given a very tough draw. She would meet a robat in the first round. Daniela esialy won though taking out Francesca Sciavone 6-2 6-4. Daniela's passing shots and lobs were the key to her sucesses. Next rtound Daniela would face a grass court expert Althea Gibson. Daniela won the first set in a tie break and was suprised to be keeping up with someone who seemed much more comfortable. The second set saw Daniela lose 4-6. Daniela though did not let thta shake hesr. The final set was tight and Althea finallty gave in 6-4. The semi saw Daniela take on 4 seed and great friend Maria Sharapova. Maria had had some solid wins but it was Daniela who came out on top 6-3, 4-6, 7-6 and booked her spot in the final of this grass court event with a fantastic comeback. Daniela saved 9 match points and came back from love 5 down to win it in the breaker. Daniela's ability to lob at the right moments and her mental toughness allowed her to pull out this win. A reporter asked Daniela How she felp about playing her friend and Danila answered

"She's my great friend and it feels bad but some times you got to do what you got to do. I know their are no hard feelings."

The final brought Daniela another grass court expert and number one seed, Steffi Graf. Daniela came into the final with no expectations.

"Well its my second final, so i hope to have the same result but who knows."

The first set was all Steffi. She took it 6-3. the scond was Dani's saving grace and she took it 6-4 the third was one wat traffic after the 6th game. Daniela took the title 4-6, 6-3, 6-3 and took the Banka Koper Slovenia Open title for her own.
