Hey everyone. Well it's that time of the year for the tournament again and I know I promised to give you updates as I did last year, but unfortunately I am no longer at Kiwi.
Holly Baney is the new tournament director and she does a great job. Her and I have worked on the tournament the past 2 years and I know she'll do an awesome job again this year. Make sure you still check out the tournament website for updates.
As for me, I am taking a break from coaching and I started with Wilson in January. I travel to all Wilson sponsored pro events to make sure Wilson is represented properly. I am also involved with our corporate partnerships like World Team Tennis, etc. I am in California at the moment for the Ojai tournament since we are the official sponsor. The new job is challenging and fun, so we'll see where it takes me.
If you want to check out some photos of the past events I have been involved in like the Rally with Roddick Charity event or events with Wilson players like Mattek, Feli Lopez, Federer, you can go to:
www.tracystennnis.com/gallery
Thanks for always supporting women's tennis and have a great summer '08!!!
Have a great night.

Derek. May 9th, 2008, 04:54 AM Do you know anything about her besides that? Is she a good up and comer or is this a sad/pathetic loss for Alex?:o
Alex was probably the favorite, but Christina has talent.
ptkten May 9th, 2008, 05:08 AM Do you know anything about her besides that? Is she a good up and comer or is this a sad/pathetic loss for Alex?:o
I saw her play at the US Open Juniors against Pervak although I saw a lot of juniors that day for the first time so it's difficult to remember exactly how she plays :o.
But from what I do remember about her, Alex probably should have won because McHale doesn't have the physical strength that Alex has, but I remember thinking she certainly had some talent for her age, I could see her in the top 200, difficult to tell beyond that stage, depends on how she's developing.

I Heart Masha May 10th, 2008, 12:35 AM Just came from the Wickmayer/Kope-Jones match. 6-4 6-1. First set was tight, with Yanina broken at 2-all and breaking back for 3-3, then finally breaking for the set at 5-4. Second set was much easier, no real problems for Wickmayer, who coasted to 5-0 then served it out at 5-1, losing only a point in the final game.
Both players have tempers! Yanina smashed a racket early in the first set.
First time seeing either player. My impressions of Yanina Wickmayer, referred to in introductions as the "Belgian Sharapova", are that she has a *monster* serve, but makes a lot of unforced errors. She also sounds a bit like Maria, LOL. She has great potential, though.
Anybody interested in pics?

konijntje_00 May 10th, 2008, 08:29 AM Anybody interested in pics?
are you ok if I put them on Yanina's official website? You can put your name on the photo's if you want, or I can do it, if you send me what to put on them.
Karel May 10th, 2008, 08:33 AM Go Yanina :)
konijntje_00 May 10th, 2008, 08:40 AM Thanks!
Even with the shrieking, I can't help but like Yanina. :)
same here
she's such a nice girl, I love her :)
and yes, she shrieks, but nothing compared to sharapova ... with her it doesn't bother me
Nick rob May 10th, 2008, 08:44 AM Thanks for the pics.

Sure, you can put them on the website. :) You don't need to put my name on them.
I Heart Masha May 10th, 2008, 09:48 AM Yanina was shrieking? She didn't in Auckland!
She was. Honestly, that stuff doesn't bother me at all, since I like Sharapova, but I just thought it was pretty coincidental that not only does she have a huge serve like Maria, she also shrieks a little like her. I like her game, but it is pretty high-risk, and until she gets more consistent on her groundstrokes, she's going to be vulnerable to good defensive players.
I Heart Masha May 10th, 2008, 09:50 AM Thanks again for posting. Raquel is in amazing shape :worship:.
She is. Her legs are really muscular, like Kuznetsova's.

yep, defensive players are indeed the ones she has the most troubles with
but she works very hard, I'm sure she will still make progress, she knows she has things to work on and she does ... so we'll see what the future brings for her
konijntje_00 May 10th, 2008, 10:14 AM Sure, you can put them on the website. :) You don't need to put my name on them.
ok, thank you very much
I'll do that immediatly :)

I'm surprised, coz I don't like shrieking, and I know she wasn't doing it when I saw her playing. Maybe softly, but it wasn't that big a stadium, and I couldn't hear it.

Yes, and she would really deserve to be there I think, she already showed in the past that she's worth more than where she is now

I hope she doesn't tire herself out with last week, this week and then Saint-Gaudens before RG Qualifying.
she often does these series of tournament and most of the time she grows stronger in every tournament then
this one is already better than last week so if it keeps going like that, I'm not worried :)
I'm looking forward to seeing her again at RG qualifying in 10 days
Dexter May 10th, 2008, 10:11 PM Very impressive showing by Yanina.

True. It didn't seem to bother her in last fall's tour of dominance. Hopefully she at least gets a Wednesday start at Saint-Gaudens after the long flight.
