They face Wimbledon finalists Thailand, who are also looking for some wins on this surface. _ _ Germany were in the semi finals last week but have a nightmare draw if they want to go that far. It would be a big upset if they were to take down the Russians. _ _ Poland have a Bye. _ _ South Africa have a Bye. _ _ Ukraine and Croatia have been two of the more consistent teams this indoor season. This could be close, but Ukraine, after two titles in a row, will take some beating. _ _ Slovenia and Sweden both have a great chance to take an indoor win before the season ends. They meet up here. _ _ Third Seed Czech Republic are in need of a few wins before the YEC. They have a Bye. _ _ Japan are another team who could do with a victory here in Zurich. They also have a Bye. _ _ Georgia and Uzbekistan havnt had the best results this year. Both have a chance to take a victory into season 2. _ _ The Americans are coming of a quarter final in Moscow but have to face Switerland who have been having a solid indoor season _ _ Eight seeds France are in a real battle to get to the YEC. They need to get past Austria _ _ The Netherlands have Byes _ _ Israel have a very hard task if theyre going to make the YEC. They need to go deep here, but first get past the Hungarians. _ _ Argentina are playing some great Indoor tennis and possibly start as the favourites in their Quarter, they face Slovakia _ _ Second seeds Spain also have Byes. If France get to the second round then Israel have to get to get to the final. If France make the Quarters then Israel cant make it to the YEC. Netherlands are basically there once the ranking points are added for Zurich. South Africa are also sure of a place after the ranking points are added as both France and Israel need Final points to be added to overtake them but theyre in the same half. Slovakia can only qualify if they win the tournament and France and Israel lose in the first round but they are sure of an alternate spot.
