Okay this is it...time for two of the best women players even from the Sunshine Coast to reassert themselves on the world stage...

Tiffany Welford achieved a career high ranking of (circa) 276 back in 2004. She won a 25k Challenger in South Australia that year, beating Meng Yuan and Sunitha Rao, amongst others. In 2005 she played at the Australian Open, courtesy of a wildcard, but fell to Barbara Schett (who, ironically now lives on the Sunshine Coast, and yes, I have seen her around) in 3 sets. She then started to suffer from injuries and fell off the radar pretty quickly. Last month she played an Australian Money Tournament in Victoria and pushed the eventual winner...hopefully she has trained hard during this time and is ready to make a comeback :)

Shayna is an even better prospect than Welford. She has hard, aggressive grounstrokes and great mental toughness. She achieved a career high ranking of 461 in 2006. At the age of 15, she beat Casey Dellacqua, Meng Yuan and Monique Adamczak to reach the final of a 50k. She also won the 18s Nationals that year (2005) as the top seed, thrashing Jessica Moore 6-1 6-2 in the final. But since then, she too has suffered from continual injuries and illnesses but has stuck with it. Hopefully her shoulder is now 100% again and she is ready to play week in week out once more. She is definitely top 300 material and would no doubt push into the top 150 if her body allowed it...

Exciting times ahead :)

Good luck also to the other Aussies in the draw...hope Cassandra Barr can make a good comeback as well - seems like a week of comebacks for the Aussie girls

Congrats Nok. :)

Adji, who's the lil mama of Balikapapan? We all know who the big mama is. :p LOL... Sandy is a resident of Jakarta but for our upcoming national games, she will play for East Kalimantan state...Jakarta team is full of Ayu, Liza, Wukir and Septi already...So, Sandy was transfered to East Kalimantan...she will team-up with Bea and Jessy...Lil Mama? She is Susan Soebakti, a local biz woman...originally from Surabaya same as big mama...Susan used to play tennis locally when she was young...Susan is the tourney director here and is very active in the local tennis association...I know from local journalists that her political movement is less graceful than big mama...hahaha...Susan is big mama wanna be...Tennis Indonesia is full of crooks...

i read in local website that sandy play with shoulder injury...is that true? Well, Sandy began to get wrist injury last January and I heard from her dad that it does bother her from time to time...then the whole gang of BMW camp changed their racket from Head to Prince and this caused problem to Sandy's elbow...or the camp keeps saying "tennis elbow"...her dad told me that she had the problem over 3 weeks in USA...well, well...an excuse that she did not perform well??? so, if she was still injured why bother to play...forced by big mama???
