Chatted with Mel and Nic and some of the other players about Nakamura-Yonemura SF. Aiko DF on 5-4 MP and it went to 5-5. Yonemura also had her chances at 6-5 with her own MP, but Aiko crumbled in the breaker. They couldn't understand what happened. We saw Aiko afterwards in the lobby. Tammy said she could see tears in Aiko's eyes when Tammy patted her on the shoulder and said, "Tough match." Aiko is off to Istanbul and will not play in Kurume. Tammy is not sure she will play either, but after a refreshing full-body massage last night, she said she is ready to do battle again!

Tammy has so much respect from many players.
I saw some of the Japanese players blogs... they really like her!
I saw her a few times in LA near the Thai temple. She was smiling all the time with her friends(?).
Hope the final is going be a good one!!

Well Done Mel/Nic

If Aiko and Tammy don't play next week Mel might be #1 seed. Hopefully she can win it.

Tammy was physically and emotionally drained. She tried to gut it out in the 3rd and fought off a few match points before forcing the tiebreaker. She had a few match points of her own during the tiebreaker, but hit down the line wide on a shot that she should have hit crosscourt (she kept regretting the shot selection afterwards).

All credit to Tomoko--she played really well. Nothing like her current WTA rank!!!!!

Tammy is pulling out of Kurume to try to give her shoulder a rest (she couldn't serve 100% today due to shoulder strain). Thanks for your support.

Thanks, ex-hopman! Would you mind posting some of the links in the Asian Assault forum? I'd like to see what the J players are saying. There is a lot of camaraderie among the Asian players. Actually among everyone in Fukuoka. It was a really good two weeks for Tammy. I translated for her in her post-match interview and she said she is satisfied with her result given the condition she was in. Mentally and physically she wasn't as up to it as Tomoko. Congrats, Kumamoto girl for winning it in Kyushu (Fukuoka)!!!!
