Tres tenistas españolas son retenidas en Beirut

Las tenistas españolas Marta Marrero, Lourdes Domínguez y Eva Fernández Brugues, así como su entrenador, se encuentran retenidos en un hotel de Beirut a causa del conflicto que vive la capital de Líbano, donde los enfrentamientos entre los partidarios del Gobierno y las milicias de Hezbolá causaron este jueves al menos diez muertos, informó el novio de una de ellas.

Según Xavi Rubio, el novio de Eva Fernández, las tres tenistas se encontraban en la capital libanesa para participar en un torneo de la Federación Internacional de Tenis (ITF) cuando se vieron atrapadas por el conflicto.

"Están retenidas en el hotel, pendientes de salir. No pueden salir del hotel ni dirigirse al aeropuerto, hay francotiradores en las calles", indicó Rubio. El hotel se halla a media hora del aeropuerto de la capital libanesa, pero "ni siquiera pueden coger un coche", precisó.

According to Xavi Rubio, Eva Fernández's boyfriend, the three players were in Lebanon playing an ITF tournament when they found trapped by the conflict.

"They are being kept in the hotel, waiting to leave. They can't leave the hotel or go to the airport, there are snipers on the streets" said Rubio. The hotel is half an hour away from the Beirut airport, but "they can't even catch a car", he concluded.

Anne has at least gotten to the airport in syria as she was interviewed there by the daily telegraph. She was due to fly out yesterday i think.
