Q: Hello Vika!

VA: Hello:)

Q: Lets get down to buisness. You've been in a bit of a slump since winning your first title and becoming #1 in Sydney, why is that?

VA: I think it's a combination of things, I was the heavy favourite to win the Australian Open and I couldnt handle the pressure. In other words, I choked. And I havent had a good week since then, I think once I can get a couple of wins under my belt I'll be more confident, and when I'm confident I can beat anyone.

Q: You play Shahar Peer in the first round, what do you know about her?

VA: We've actually played before, in Antwerp, she beat me. I actually played well that match, but Shahar tracks down every ball and gets alot of depth on her shots from very defencive positions, and that makes her very tough to beat.

Serena Williams arrived in Dubai today and went straight to the practice courts. She says she had no expectations here in Dubai and is still testing the waters here in EWTA.

"Well, this is my first event playing doubles with Venus and I'm really excited," said a smiling Serena. "We had been talking about playing, but I didn't realize that we had signed-up for the same event, so we'll be looking to do damage here.

I'm also looking to do well here in my singles play. I've been practicing hard and hopes that it will pay off. My serve is looking good and I've been working on my forehand a lot, so I feel ready."

Maria Sharapova says that she is ready to play in Dubai. The Russian bombshell won last week's doubles title with Francesca Schiavone in Bogota.

Sharapova will have to do well in the first round match as she is up against the number 5 seed Tatjana Malek, but says that she will try her best.

I want to win. I want to win my first singles title, and it would be good if it happened on the E.W.T.A.

Yeh, it's kind of scary, you know, so early, I don't want to lose in the first round.*laughter*. No you know, it's good playing against an experienced player, I like it.

Kim Clijsters and Jelena Jankovic ready for Dubai

Kim Clijsters was seen practicing with her good friend Jelena Jankovic on Wednesday at the center court. Kim who has been steadily climbing to the top has not done much up till now but she is working very hard to prove her self and get her to the top. Meanwhile Jelena Jankovic is having a somewhat similar career to Kim but they both are very focused to do well in the future.

Just as Kim Clijsters and Venus Williams finished their warm up and were ready to play..the rain started falling cuasing the match to be suspended..

''Its really frustrating but as players you have to deal with it..I was very dissappointed because i was really pumped and wanted to finish the match and play my best..the rain really spoiled my mood..but still i try to win when we play:p

Serena Advances........Meets Marta

Serena Williams won her opening round match 4-6, 6-4, 6-2 over Belgian, Justine Henin. It was a well played match from both players, but Serena had more at the end to pull out the win.

After getting a crucial break on Serena's serve in the first set, Justine would go on to serve out the set to love, dashing Serena's spirits. "I was out of sorts after dropping that first set," said Serena. "She was playing well and hitting some really good angles to win that last game to love. I'm just happy I was able to hang in there in the second set and pull my game together totally in the third."

Up next for Serena is the no. 7 seed Marta Domachowska. "I'm ready for the challenge and hope I'll come out on top," said a smiling Serena Williams.

Today Serena Williams defeated Marta Domachowska in the second round of the Dubai Tennis Championships. Serena is steadily improving her movement around the court and many have speculated that it was key for her to do so at this event.

"Well, usually I like to prove everyone wrong, but this time they were right. I was not moving well in my first event, granted it was on clay, but that is really no excuse. The courts are playing a little faster this year, so I think that has helped me also. I have a couple of things to tweak on my serve, but once I get all the bugs out, I should make an impression on tour; and hopefully at this event," said Serena.

Hungarian teen and World number four, Agnes Szavay, was eliminated early at the Barclay's Dubai Tennis Championships. Her conquerer was rising Chinese and good friend Li Na. Li Na and Agnes Szavay have never met before but a lot of studying went on. Agnes and Na exchange enless rallies and were both serving beautifully until the twelvth game where Li Na went up love forty and Agnes just couln't come back.

The second set was a completly different story. Agnes was playin more powerfully and intellegently. She hit a record eight aces and was taking risks. Due to all those things she came a way with it 6-2. The final set was the same as the first with a late break. Agnes will send new points...I mean tatics next week for she is excited for Miami and Indian

Venus and Serena Move Ahead In Dubai

For the first time this season, the Williams Sisters entered the doubles event of a main draw. They were victorious on their first venture out on the doubles court together, but Serena feels that there is still a lot she can improve on when it comes to doubles.

"Well, Venus got us through this match. I was serving well, but not effective enough to do any damage. I'm starting to learn that doubles is a lot about placement not pace, although pace does help sometime. But most of all, Venus and I are having fun and are pleased to get this win."

Venus Williams whispers something to younger sister, Serena Williams during their first roud doubles match in Dubai.

In their first doubles tournament, Venus and Serena Williams showed no fear in taking out the third-seeded team, Maria Kirilenko and Virginia Ruano Pascual, in a three sets; 6-4, 2-6, 6-3. They advance to their first semi-final where they'll take on the second-seeded doubles team made up of Victoria Azarenka and Margalita Chakhnashvili. The Williams sisters entered their post-match interview with smiles and bubbly energy.

"It feels great to get this win today. We played strong throughout the match and I feel that we have some minor changes to make but overall we're still a very strong team." Venus said to reporters.

During the interview, a reporter stood up and asked Venus and Serena how far they think they're going to advance in the tournament.

Venus and Serena just looked at each other, smiled and said: "We're going to win."

Venus: I feel great, we played really consistant today. We've been changing small things each time we play and I think it's had a pretty good effect on our opponents.

Press: Any words Serena?

Serena: Haha... um, I feel like my serve today was much better than yesterday. I got like 6 aces today, so I think it definently helped us stay on track and work on getting the breaks.

Press: Do you think you two are going to win the title?

Serena: Duh.

Venus: You bet your sweet ass we are.

Press: Any words for your next opponents?

Venus: Good luck, you're going to need it.
