:worship: Match of the tournament thus far!! Just great play from both players. 7 CTs in the match shows just how close these 2 were, but the order didn't affect the outcome. Dulko was up in the third, but she didn't choke at all....Dementieva simply played subliminal tennis and ends the Dulko dominance and moves into the semis in a very very strong position. Vaidisova crashes out in Melbourne

It was a bittersweet day for Nicole Vaidisova fans. The blonde tennis vixen clinched a semi final spot in doubles but suffered a humilating defeat to the lower ranked Ivanovic in singles. After going down an early break in the first set, Vaidisova completely self distrcuted. She hit 9 dfs in that set and continued to miss forehands by several meters. During the changeover after the 1st set Nicole looked to be on the verge of tears. She started the second set with the same poor play that cost her the first but eventually something clicked and she began to go toe to toe with Ivanovic. Unfortunately she was too litle too late, as Ivanovic won the match 6/1,7/6. Although a disappointing result Vaidisova has still performed exceptionally and says that she plans to be ranked in the top 3 by Indian Wells and also captured a title by then. Now out of singles she is putting all her concentration into doubles.

Same result as last week, as neither changed points :rolleyes: . Anyone who gets a beatdwon like that should really change points, but it served Lena well (aprt from this match!) to keep her old gameplan. Tough break for her, as if Davenport would have won the CT to beat Ivanovic, Dementieva would have beaten Davenport and had a shot at the final, where she could have also won depending on the CT order. But, ignoring the "what-ifs" it is Ivanovic who is first into the final, and she will definitely be hungry to do the double as well, after also reaching the doubles final with Schnyder.

After being ousted from the singles event here in Melbourne Moore & Vaidisova refused to give up their spot in the double finals. After a horrendous 6-0 first set loss the two quickly regrouped and decimated Williams & Rezai in the last two sets only losing two games. The two are pumped for tomorrows match where Vaidisova not only has the chance to gain revenge for her loss to Ivanovic but the two have a shot at winning the first doubles major of the year. Same result as last week, as neither changed points :rolleyes: . Anyone who gets a beatdwon like that should really change points, but it served Lena well (aprt from this match!) to keep her old gameplan. Tough break for her, as if Davenport would have won the CT to beat Ivanovic, Dementieva would have beaten Davenport and had a shot at the final, where she could have also won depending on the CT order. But, ignoring the "what-ifs" it is Ivanovic who is first into the final, and she will definitely be hungry to do the double as well, after also reaching the doubles final with Schnyder.

What an upset!! Moore and Vaidisova end the unbeaten run of Ivanovic and Schnyder, and there was no better time to do it than a Grand Slam final! Ivanovic/Schnyder looked to have it in the bag at 6-0 2-0, and at 4-2 in the second set, but the underdogs rode the storm that was the top seed's powerful barrage, really dug deep, spurred on by the Aussie crowd, and were the much more confident pair in the decider. Still a great week for the #1 pair though, and their ranking remains in tact even after this loss. Ivanovic will be hoping to rebound for her singles final laer today.

:eek: Cibulkova really took it to Ivanovic today. She was nervous at the start, going down an early break, but she settled in quickly to break back, and then manage to edge Ivanovic in the tie-break to clinch the first set. The second set- Ivanovic just had too much firepower, and Cibulkova looked a little over-awed after winning that first set. But, she settled back down in the final set, going on a tear of 4 games to seal the championship with a backhand winner on her 3rd championship point. Especially impressive is that she wins a Grand Slam in her debut event, and will shoot straight to the top of the rankings. Well done Domi! :bigclap: Obvious disappointment for Ivanovic being so close in the first set, and also losing the doubles final, but she can definitely take so many positive from her week, which will boost her up to #3 in the world!
