Well guys, I talked about it last week, and I thought I'd make an attempt to update as often as possible the doubles rankings.
Here is a file with the ranking of last week, and the points added and retrieved this week after Indian Wells, live.
Out of all the tournaments played by players, only the best 11 are taken into account (that's not even like for singles, for which whatever the result, GS and Mandatory count in the 17 best, here only the best ones count).
If you need more details, do not hesitate to ask. I displayed also the 11th and 12th result, so that calculation can be clearer for all, if it is not, tell me.
In grey, the results that will not change, in white those who can still change because the teams are still in the draw.

NB: I've added the peak ranking and also the name of the tournament played this week. I thought these info could be interesting as well.

I'm so sad that Gisela had to pull out of her doubles match too :sobbing: I really like the team she made with Shahar and I hope they'll play together in Miami :help:

You are right. If Hantuyama win tonight, they earn 210 points so in Sugi's total, you retrieve 125 (11th tournament) and add at least 210 points, so 3655-125+210=3740 pts, which is exactly the same number of points as Srebotnik. But Sugi with 22 tournaments vs 21 for Srebo would become the new third.

I compared with WTA rankings, and noticed a few mistakes, I'll correct it later when back from the courts. Nothing big though, sorry for that!

The best teams of the year so far are Black/Huber, Yan/Zheng and Bondarenko/Bondarenko (though I don't expect them to last at the top).

Black/Huber have won 2 titles and 1 RU, plus AO QF.
Yan/Zheng have 1 title, 3 RU, plus AO SF.
Bondarenko/Bondarenko have 2 titles (including AO)

I suppose it's a matter of opinion who has had a better year out of the 1st two. Personally I think Black/Huber have been better. That final win in Dubai does it for me.

Hope Kata and Ai can have a great showing here and go up the race ranking :cool:

Ai and Kata have to avoid early exits like in Berlin(or was it Rome ) and RG :tape: and hopefully win a Slam too this year ...hopefully Wimbledon but it will be tough especially with Black/Huber yet to win a Slam title in 2008 too , and on their favourite (I suppose) surface they will be highly motivated to prove they're still at the top :p it will be a nice Wimbly in doubles methiks :cool:

Srebotnik down to #6 :eek: I think Peschke/Stubbs are now the 2nd best team in the world. Srebotnik/Sugiyama have had a poor year so far compared to 2007.

You're right, I forgot about her, she must be around 46 now with the second round in RG. Let me check, and for the next update, she will be in. :wavey:

I made some calculation, and Cara and Liezel are assured to remain World Number one at least until the USOpen, except if Azarenka wins all tournaments from now on till then, or if Liezel wins the Olympics, and then she'd be number one alone.
