However, size doesn't matter as the top two teams here, Spain and Japan, are both ranked within the world's top 5, due to their respective success on clay and grass. However, Japan are not just a one surface pony, as it was in the New Zealand capital of Auckland that Aiko Nakamura captured the first title for the Far East team, on Rebound Ace as she says she is ready to cause more damage on the Australian island of Tasmania. "I love the Rebound Ace courts, they really suit my game. My coach tries to base me out here and practice for the Rebound Ace events. Even though the field isn't full of the top teams, it's always good to see the new girls on tour and put your skills up against them. Ai played great tennis on the grass, hopefully I can do the same on the Rebound Ace. I was watching Alona play and my coach is friends with the Ukrainian coach and we all came down here together and worked hard on our tennis." Nakamura will compete in the semifinal against fourth seed Dominika Cibulkova of Slovakia and in the doubles Nakamura and Morigami will take to the court against the South African pairing of Edwards and Marshall.
