Eric_tennis Good luck to Mi-ra!
Who is Desislava Topalova? Is she too strong player for Mi-ra?

Dessislava Tapalova is a power player, she is 22 years old and she is very much a late blummer, she is bulgarian and is coached by her mother as well as julga Barbaranova-maleeva( maleeva's mother) dessislava plays with her younger sister radoslava who is 17 years old and ranked somewhere in the top 500.
Dessislava is a all court player, a late blummer, but she hits the ball as hard as a (Hantuchueva), she sometimes lacks concentration and miss hits with lots of errors, but when she is on, she can be fast she can hit hard and she can come to net, so if she plays with concentration she can pretty much steam roll through anyone in the 100's.
she can be a top 50 player even a top 32 player she even has the height (5'9 and a half)
the only problem is she lacks motivation, but i have met her and i think next year she will be in the top 100 for sure.
Dessislava Tapalova is ranked #195

I'm not shocked Beti won!

Stosur has lost her last three matches, her game has gone back to how it was before Asia. Beti is an incredibly tough to play, she is a huge fighter, she is exactly like Sarah Pitkowski with her whinging and fighting spirit.

I'm more shocked that Rochelle lost to Suer! At least she got in as a lucky loser, unfortunately for Dittmann though who always seems to get beaten by Rochelle.

Impressive, easy wins for Christina and Bryanne!

Cohen Aloro is a very promising French girl. That was a bad draw for both players, and it went to the final set tiebreak, so don't be too disappointed with Yoon Jeong.

Hurley, I know that Cohen-Aloro is a promising player.

But there are a few reasons to why I'm disappointed:

1) Yoon-Jeong is the 2nd seed & higher ranked
2) Yoon-Jeong has been playing well since the US Open
3) Yoon-Jeong was ranked in the Top 110 a few weeks ago and would have made the cut-offs if points hadn't come off
4) Yoon-Jeong loses too many matches like this (close 3rd set; I'll bet she even had match points)

I think we may see her in a small slump in the next coming weeks. I really hope she proves me wrong...

Good luck Saori, win the whole thing.

I understand, but it's a defendable loss, if you have to lose these sorts of matches.

I'm disappointed too, I became a fan of Yoon Jeong's at the Open and I know that she should be into the Top 100 and winning these types of matches all the time. But she's improving overall, and everyone has a bad week. I'm pretty confident she'll be able to make it into the main draw of the Australian through the qualifying, and, if not, she should be okay for the French and Wimbledon.

Pattaya finished Nov 19 last year , so they used Nov 27 ranks for 2001 AUS Open

either Nov 26 or Dec 3 , normally they use 6 weeks before hand.

It may well be Dec 3 , I'm hoping so as there is no USTA event this week but $50K West Columbia (TX) is next week.

I saw some discussion regarding Stephanie Cohen Aloro.
I have seen her in Pattaya. My understanding is that she is really going for it now and has already made huge progress with a leap of 100 places in the past two months and another similar leap mid of this year.
She has besides a great coach now : Arnaud Decugis (husband and coach of Julie Halard Decugis).
They are doing a wonderful job together and this is a well deserved victory.
I am certain we will hear more about Stephanie during next season as she is starting to believe in herself.
