This thread is for suggestions, recommendations, anything! for season 2 of WMFT.

Here are a couple of ideas that I had for changing this game, and hopefully improving it:


1) Getting rid of surface preferences. They aren't a huge hassle for me, but it does get confusing to have them.. and less face it, when you have over 200 points to use, does having 5 more really make that big of a difference?

2) For the men's game: Lowering the total points you can use. I think part of the problem with the men's side (like why there is never a consistent winner and it's hard to win a lot of matches...) is that you have over 200 points, so it's very hard to figure your opponents strategy. I mean, just look at the points rubric thing! A win by 6-1 means the points difference was 81-100 points.. 20 points is a big gap!

3) Getting rid of Tier IVs, shortening the season. The good thing is that it will shorten the season, and get rid of a (boring?) week each surface. However, you will lose the ranking points you gained from them, and the season will be shorter (could be a positive or a negative depending on how you look at it)... And a 2nd part to Part #3 is, maybe in place of the Tier IV I could add another Tier II? This way, people won't just lose ranking points, and the season won't really be shortened :shrug:. My question is: is it worth it to have Tier IVs?

4) Back to this idea... Results in 2-3 days? I could do the whole tournament over a 2-3 day time. The good things: faster season, quicker results, probably easier for me... the bad things: no article writing time, not as many live scores (I won't have as much time).



So, what do you think? Comment on these ideas, suggest your own.. Whatever you'd like! :D

An indoor season would be interesting... The only problem I would have would that would be that I would have to make up a 5th grand slam :lol:. But, it would be nice to have a bit longer season, and this way tier IVs would be gone without that much of a problem :shrug:. What do you guys think on that??

Scrap Tier IVs definitely, it's really frustrating to have a good week that week and get like 15 ranking points :o and then suck when a lot of points are on offer.

1.I think the surface should be kept.Perhaps widening the gaps.Maybe 230,220,210,200?:shrug:

2.You're right.Perhaps there'll be not many 6-0 scores happening.;) But I won't be bothered as well.

3.Yeap.No Tier IV please.E.g.:I was in 3 finals(winning one) during USO Series but unluckily,the event I won was a Tier IV.That's why I ended up being 3rd in the USO Series standings.And yeah.A Tier II would do I guess.

well as for the 2-3 days thing, I stand with DO IT. If for no other reason than Thomas himself says it will be EASIER for him, and we owe that to him.

I know I have no time for articles really, because each time I go to write one, as I did last night, I then check myself and think; I should spend that time writing an essay. So either way, no articles or minimal articles will be coming from me. But I make up for that with comment participation I guess.

As for the rest:

-I would quite like all surfaces to be 215, that would be cool, for the WTA anyway.
-not sure about the ATP. I do agree there are too many points. I think maybe 150 would work better?
-ye, scrap Tier IVs. But I would rather people didn't just lose the ranking points. Anything that prevents players from losing Tier IV points is good with me. But I do think Tier IVs should go.

Oh yeah.Same as NEA,I'll be posting in the threads to make up with article writing since I love doing so.:drool: and usually I spent more time to write one.Perhaps y'all may take maximum 15 minutes for an average article,but for me,I spend more than half an hour or maybe an hour to do it.:o :tape:

The only problem I have with making such a big gap for surface points is when you have someone with 240 vs. 200. I alway shated in games when you have to play an entire surface with 40 less points then everyone, it makes it almost impossible to compltely beat the players with more points. However, I do still think maybe widening the game is a good idea.. :shrug:



And I got rid of Tier IV's, I would probably do this:

1 Grand Slam, 1 Tier I, 2 Tier IIs, and 1 Tier III on each surface. That way, there are 5 tournaments on each surface, times 5 surfaces is 25 tournaments (plus the YEC and Team champs)

I hate that idea as well and think you should change it in your game - people who dont make the YEC shouldnt play that week. Surelly a winner of a tier 1 gets more than someone in the RR of the YEC
