Japanese set to star at Wimbledon

http://www.wtnphotos.com/data/535/AI34.jpg
Sugiyama signs autographs for her fans

The Japanese quintet of Ai Sugiyama, Akiko Morigami, Aiko Nakamura, Ayumi Morita and Rika Fujiwara descended on the British capital today in preparation of the third Grand Slam of the year. Joined by Kei Nishikori, the Japanese are on of the favourites to go far in the event and after Ai Sugiyama's title win in Eastbourne, she says that this is the make-or-break event of the year for the Asian team.

"We know we can do major damage here in the draw. We love playing on the grass and after the Thai team, we are the best on grass. We feel that if we can do well here, we will send a message out to the rest of the tour. Some of the guys may look at us and think 'so what, they aren't too special', especially after we had the clay season. Grass is good for us and we want to go far here. I won the Eastbourne title and had a good match in the final. Our coach has been giving me little tips on how to go far, Ayumi and Rika are training hard for the doubles and we are confident about the mixed as well. It should be good. Aiko and Akiko will keep up fresh and on our toes. The British crowd really like us and we want to please them," said Ai Sugiyama, during a signing session with Britsh fans today.

Nineteen year old Swede Johanna Larsson will be making her Grass debut at this years Wimbledon, the powerful player will also look to do damage in the womens doubles with fellow Swede Michaela Johansson. The score looks like a typical first round match from Dementieva in a grand slam but she was made to work so hard for this win. The mini-chokes didnt help, but like on many occasions before, she pulled it out of the bag. Johanna should be very pleased with her progression and she was almost there. Shahar Storms to Wimbledon Quarters
http://i20.photobucket.com/albums/b241/FlamingoSpice/training.jpg
Israel's Shahar Peer clenches her fist after defeating Tina Pisnik of Slovenia in their second round match at Wimbledon.

In her first match of the tournament, Israel's star player, Shahar Peer took on Tina Pisnik of Slovenia in round two. Peer had a walk over in her round one match against the 13th-seeded country of the tournament, Italy. Representing Italy was, Flavia Pennetta. However, a couple hours after eating breakfast, Pennetta noticed an unsettling feeling in her stomach and had to withdraw from the match due to explosive diarrhea.

"That's absolutely disgusting. I did not want to know about that. I was just happy with a win." Peer said in a press conference after finding out the reason why Flavia withdrew. "I hope she feels better."

In her second round match, she took on Tina Pisnik of Slovenia who gave her very little trouble. Peer and Pisnik were neck and neck until Peer broke Pisnik's wobbly serve to go up 5-4 in the first set and then the sharp shooting Israeli served out the set to win 6-4. In the second set, Peer stepped on the gas and never looked back. At 2-2, Shahar broke Pisnik's serve again and went on to win the next four consecutive games to win the match in straight sets; 6-4, 6-2.

"I was very suprised with how well I played today. I did really well in the warm-up events to Wimbledon. I reached back to back finals which gave me a lot of expierence on the grass courts. I think I can definently make it past Anna Lena [Groenfeld], she's a tough player but I'm not too worried about her. I'm here to win, and anything else unexceptable."

There She Is, The tennis Russian, I mean Uzbekistani, tennis star, Maria Shara"Tanker"Pova proves why again her ranking keeps falling. The Russian, I mean, Uzbekistan player have been going thru a hard strake since she left her natal country without EVER debuting on Fed Cup, after fighting on WHO WOULD GET Djokovic between her, Nadie Bitchtrova, Svetlana Whorenetsova, Anna Chokertadze and ther worst Anastia Skankyna (who havent return to the courts in a LOOOOONG Time) she decided to aim her titties to the Uzbekistani star Denis IStomin  Being no competition against her off court but Tulyaganova's boobs, Masha was anywhere but near spanking the REALLY LUCKY LOSER Emma Laine who showed once again why she isnt at the top of the Iceberg in tennis.

Sugi surges into last four

Ai Sugiyama hits a forehand in her easy victory on Centre Court

Japanese star Ai Sugiyama has powered through to the last eight, with a crushing 6-4 6-1 win over number one seeds Spain at Wimbledon today.

Sugiyama, fresh from winning Eastbourne, started off slowly in her round of 16 match, dropping her opening service game and going down 4-1, before the rain came. An hour rain delay ensued, but by the time Sugiyama got back onto Centre Court, she was a different character. She was hitting her serve with more authority and exploited her greater net game, sealing the opening set with a delicate drop volley.

Her Spanish opponent had no answer and could not find a way past the resiliant Japanese veteran, who dropped a mere 8 points in the second set. The match was decided by a netted forehand from Suarez Navarro. Sugiyama will now go on to face the Uzbek team.

Maria had the chances early on but Ai showed great resistance then powered through. Another commanding performance from the Japanese to make it to the Semi Finals.

Tamarine was pushed a bit more but once again she really raised her game in the second set. A great run so far and she is still yet to lose a set.

Possibly, the best match of WTT yet this year. Together, both wasted over 20 match points before the final blow was delivered by Peer. Amazing stuff from both teams and its a shame both cant go through. Peer makes it to a Grand Slam Semi for the first time in her carrer as Germany just miss emulating their Roland Garros success. Best match in a grand slam by far.

Shahar Survives Marathon Match

http://i20.photobucket.com/albums/b241/FlamingoSpice/pra.jpg
Israel's Shahar Peer returns a hit to Germany's Anna Lena Groenfeld in their Quarterfinal match at Wimbledon. Peer edged Groenfeld to advance to her first career grand slam semi-final.

Israel's Shahar Peer showed just how much she wants to win her first career title after she battle her way through a 5 hour and 47 minute match in the quaterfinals against Germany's Anna Lena Groenfeld. Both women wasted numerous amounts of match points in the third set but after saving an outstanding 8 match points, Peer finally cracked a winner down the lines to take the match 6-7(5), 6-2, 16-14. Making it the longest match in WTT history.

"God it was such a long match. I never want to play in a match like that ever again. It was too long. There were so many times when one of us had a match point and we wasted it. I definently can't play like that tomorrow against Tamarine. She's a good player and she'll put me away when she has the chance."

After numerous injury timeouts on the behalf of Groenfeld, and a little timeout to go to the little girl's room for Peer, the match went through a rain delay and harsh weather conditions to see which one of the two rising stars would reach the final four, and after all that happened, Peer managed to rise victorious.

"I'm very happy about winning. I knew I could do it, now I just have two more matches to win, that's all I'm looking for. Just two more. I know that China and Japan both advanced earlier today as well, so the competition is definently tough. I have enough fight in me to take down any of the countries left, and I'll demonstrate that tomorrow."
