Welcome to the biggest hard court tournament of the year, aside from the US Open, of course! This week, both the men and women are in Canada for the Tier I hardcourt event, the 3rd of 4 US Open series events. Last week, Maria Sharapova reached yet another final, but this time was successful, beating Sybille Bammer in straight sets and moving into 2nd in the USO series standings! Sybille Bammer, who is 2/2 in reaching hard court finals, retained her first place, but will need to do well here to keep it. World number 1 Amelie Mauresmo returns, looking to add to her tour-leading 5 titles!

The men's tour, in Montreal this week, has continued to struggle. The top 8 players in the world, all of which lost their first match last week but 1, continue to played very poorly and cannot seem to string together a few wins! Andre Agassi was able to win his first WMFT title, and because no one near the top of the USO series standings did well, Agassi became our new leader! Hopefully, the seeds can pull it together for this event, the 4th, and final, tier I of the year!

Serena Williams has cooled off a bit during her stay in Canada. Williams is playing this week in Toronto for the Rogers Cup. Serena has made a semifinal and a quarterfinal so far this summer, but lost both matches to # 2 Sybille Bammer. Serena shot for a local canadian magazine and the Toronto Tribune. Serena faces off against some tough opponents this week. Serena wanted to make one more remark.

"For all you fashion photographers I Am the better Williams sister to shoot because I'm prettier, curvier, and just a better client then Venus." said Williams, a recent success in modeling. Venus Williams has been known to model before playing on this tour.

These guys were only separated by a few points in the first 2 sets, and in the final set they had the same points AND the same number of total points, so Ivan won simply because he is ranked higher :eek: Great match :bowdown:
