Welcome to the first leg of the North American tour heading into the US Open. We see Wimbledon Champion Flavia Pennetta on a 9 match winning streak. Can she win Stanford, or will Americans Serena and Venus Williams or will California natives Lindsay Davenport or Brie Whitehead take the title?

Statement From Sania

Due to an increasingly growing schedule, the world's second ranked player, Sania Mirza is debating retirement from the tour. It is currently unknown whether she will be retire or not, but her manager has announced earlier today that the young Indian player is contemplating whether or not she will continue. Mirza is currently getting ready for a tournament in San Diego which she has agreed to play at.

"I'm still playing in San Diego and I hope I will do well there. Whether or not I'm going to retire or not is still in question. There is a lot for me to think about and I'm not sure what I want to do just yet. Whatever my decision is, I hope that it will be respected. But right now I'm just going to focus on San Diego, who knows, maybe something there will change my mind."
