Week #18
WTA: Los Angeles
http://www.sonyericssonwtatour.com/3/global/graphics/logos/losangeles1.jpg
In the first hardcourt and US Open Series event, the Tier IV Stanford last week, we saw Austrian Sybille Bammer, and #2 ranked player, "return" to the top, taking home her 4th title (1st in 7 weeks)! In the final she took out a talented English player, Elena Baltacha, in a straight set ass-kicking. Baltacha, however, won a title back on clay (Estoril) and has certainly been a force in a lot of tournaments! Will one of these 2 players succeed again this week, or will someone new show they know how to play on hard?? One thing is for certain: with the #1 player out, anyone can win!

WMFT: Women's & Men's Fantasy Tour
Week #18
ATP: Washington
http://www.atptennis.com/5/graphics/tournamentlogos/washington_70x134.gif
Last week, at the men's Tier IV event in Indianapolis, we had another player "return" to the top. Australian Nathan Healey, the #3 ranked player and former world #1, also won his 4th event of the year, first in 3 weeks, over the always competitive Roger Federer. Federer has made 2 finals in 3 weeks on the WMFT tour, and he's been showing really consistant results lately. Will this be the tournament he breaks through? Will Healey continue his hard court winning and once again win back-to-back titles (like in week 1 and 2)? Or will someone different break through to take home the title?

After a dissapointing Grass season and missing the first hardcourt match Russias Maria Kirilenko and Nikolay Davydenko are looking to get back to their bests on the WMFT. Both are ranked inside the top 8 and both have won titles in the past but with the arrival of new stars on tour the task has got harder. However when at their best they have shown they can beat anyone.
"I had a slight injury problem and lack of motivation all the way through the grass season but now Im back and im feeling better than ever" said Maria "Im not quite in my best shape yet but I believe I can get there. The goal at the moment is the US open and hopefully I can do great there. Im looking forward to getting my season back on track"
"I havnt played good tennis for a long time now and I want that to change" said Nikolay "Since Roland Garros really I havnt felt myself and its gone downhill so Im looking for form again. This is just the start. Hopefully soon me and Makiri will be rocking the WMFT soon again"

Williams picked up many new friends and fans last week when the younger Williams sister made the semifinals in Stanford. Lets hope this is Serena's last night out before the tournament begins. "Seriously change the dress, V"
http://tennisrulz.com/players/vwilliams/gallery03/235.jpg
Venus Williams stretches for a ball against Maria Sharpova in the 2nd round of the EastWestBank classic. Williams lost 4-6,5-7 to the Russian.
Venus Williams is still winless on hardcourts, and has now lost the past two matches to Maria Sharapova. This one was a bit closer though, 4-6,5-7. Venus has been disappointed in her recent play.
"Ever since Serena has beaten me I have been a little off, and scared. I had too many errors today. Maybe it's my dress. I need to get out of my Wimbledon attire." said Venus. Maybe Serena had been right when she quoted after her win over # 5 seeded Flavia Pennetta. She said, "Seriously, lose your dress V, its makin' me crazy".
Williams' only win in the past two weeks has been against Kirstin Dunst, a Hollywood actress who played her in an exhibition match. Williams needs some serious fine-tuning.

Venusismyhero Dec 6th, 2007, 02:22 AM Blake tops Nadal
http://www.informativos.telecinco.es/imgsed/otro_nadal.jpg
James Blake has reaches the QUARTERFINALS of the WASHINGTON tournament Wednesday by beating Sebastian Grojean of France 7-5,6-4 and then taking out # 2 seeded Rafael Nadal in straight sets 6-3,6-2. James played with great ferocity and defeated the over-muscular chump Nadal by slamming winners and smashing his weak topspin shots. Blake next faces the only seed remaining in the mens draw. GET SOME.

Venusismyhero Dec 6th, 2007, 02:39 AM S.Williams wins in wacky 3 setter
http://images.sina.com/content/news/45/13/1451302.JPG
SERENA WILLIAMS is proving to be the better Williams sister so far during this hardcourt season. She has advanced to the EastWest Bank Quarterfinals by beating Lucie Safarova 6-3,6-2 in round one, then ousting #5 Flavia Pennetta 6-3,0-6,6-1 in a weird match. Williams started off with an early break and held on to win the first set, then her play dropped as Flavia got looser. The Wimbledon runner-up won six games in 16 minutes. The crowd was stunned. And so was Williams.
"I think I didn't hit one winner in that entire set. She just attacked and forced errors off me in that set." said Williams.
That tactic eventually wore down the fifth seed as Williams cleaned up her play and breezed through the third 6-1. Serena next takes on Syblle Bammer, the 1st seed and winner of last week's Bank of the West Classic.
"She can't win every Bank" joked Williams.
Serena and Syblle should be something to watch (aka please show a live score for that match!)

D . ~{X}~ . K Dec 8th, 2007, 04:33 AM Agassi Moves Into First Final!

Washington- It took American, Andre Agassi 18 weeks to reach a Final on the WMFT Tour. 18 long hard weeks of having tough matches and not being very successful has come into reality now as Agassi heads into his first Final against another American, James Blake. The two will face off for the Washington Title which is a Tier III event on the tour.
Agassi- "Its been a tough season on me, I haven't been as good or as commited as I wanted to be. But when the summer season came around, I really began training hard and wanted to do the best I could and I see that its paying off for me as I am here in the Finals now. Its a great feeling, I feel proud of myself for getting to this point and now I have to win one more match against a tough opponent in James Blake. If I win, it would be amazing and the happiest moment of my career to this date. And of course this confidence will hopefully keep up with me for the rest of the year and especially heading into the US Open, my favorite slam."
Ï♥╚!ÑÞ§å¥ Dec 8th, 2007, 05:21 AM By the way, what will be the result if Sybille had not win the first CT?
You still would have won in straight sets, the first set just would have been closer.
Venusismyhero Dec 8th, 2007, 05:33 AM Blake aims for title
http://newsimg.bbc.co.uk/media/images/40760000/jpg/_40760790_blake_win.jpg
JAMES BLAKE has made it to the finals of this weeks' Washington D.C. tournament by going undefeated in all of his sets. Blake beat Roger Federer today in the semifinals 6-4,6-2. Blake definatly said he had a tough time getting to the final.
"After joining the tour at Wimbledon, my play has only gone up. Andre has been playing well also, but its VERY appropraite that us Americans are in the final of a tournament in the United States." said Blake.
Blake will try to be aggressive and consistant at the same time. James is really hoping for a title to boost his confidence.
