Serbs Ready for Debut

http://www.sonyericssonwtatour.com/3/global/photogallery/rolandgarros_week2/f_40.jpg

Star Serbians Ana Ivanovic and Jelena Jankovic are ready to
make their WTT debut this week in Rome. After weeks of training
in Paris (picture above) the Serbian duo will aim to stun fellow
WTT teams when they make their debut. With Ana Ivanovic
opening with singles and again teaming up with Jelena Jankovic
for doubles they say really want to make an impact.

"Hopefully all the weeks of training pay off, " said an excited
Ivanovic. "People might think lightly of us because we're new
and making our debut, but watch out, we're ready to do well!"

"I Want To Be Number One"

This was Australian Casey Dellacqua's last sentence after the match yesterday. In Rome, they play on clay and this isn't good for Casey, but she's great fighter and won her first match against Tamarine Tanasugarn of Thailand.

"Yes, you heard it well. I want to be number one soon, probably after Wimbledon. Today the match was really heavy, but fortunately I was able to win it in straight sets. Tammy was great, I hope next time she'll have more luck."

http://www.theage.com.au/ffximage/2007/01/15/wbTENNIScasey_gallery__264x400.jpg

"My strongest opponent is Spain at the moment. They have really good CLAY-player, but that's all. Spain is the currently number two and they'll be the number one after this tournament I think, but after Wimbledon they'll be probably only the 3rd and will be weak."

Next opponent will be Sacha Jones.

"I think I'm the better player although she plays great tennis on clay. I hope I can do it."

Both played a good tactic and a good match but Sacha was just the little more strong. Australia are getting closer to the form that saw them take the Charleston title but they just missed it today. However if they change just a little they may be able to get the number 1 spot they want another week.

Australian Casey Dellacqua's run is over. She lost to Sacha Jones in straight set. Altogether she played bad tennis today, hit many double fault and unforced errors, so she didn't has any chance.

CASEY'S SEMIFINAL PREDICTIONS

Nadia Petrova (RUS) vs. Sacha Jones (NZL)

Well, I don't know what can I say. That would be really great match I think, because both player are in a good shape.
I think Nadia will win this match in straight sets because of her routine.

Prediction: Petrova d. Jones 6-3 6-4

[4] Zuzana Ondraksova (CZE) vs. [2] Nuria Llagostera-Vives (ESP)

Nuria is definitely the probable winner. She play great tennis while Zuzana play "only" good tennis. Nuria will overtake Zuzana's tctic I think, but I hope I won't be true.

Prediction: Llagostera d. Ondraksova 6-4 6-4

Clay specialist at her best

http://news.bbc.co.uk/media/images/39115000/jpg/_39115720_petrova300x300ap.jpg

Russian team never were in doubt in Nadia Petrova as she brought her team to Rome's semis without dropping a set. After dominating first round win against Romania 6-0 6-1, there were no doubts that Russia would give close fight to WTT number one - China. But Petrova looked too impressive - she outperfomed boring Jie Zheng and won in straight sets 7-6 7-6.

"I would like the second match to be a bit easier but overall I'm pleased with my perfomance this week." said Petrova. "I'm on my top level now and my team already got a seeding number. That shows the way we've improved since the beginning of the season."
