If China lose in first round, Australia or China could be number 1 if:
Spain win the tournament
Australia get to the final

Spain cant be number 1
Australia have to win the final

If China win in the Quarters they will still be number 1

http://www.wtnphotos.com/data/3263/XRG105010721_1024x768.jpg

China are in real danger of losing their number 1 position now after a hard loss to last weeks champion. Clay is obviously not their favourtie surface but if they are to stay at the top spot they need to up their game. Great chance for Australia and Spain now as long as they get through.

Good match from both here to and it was a good chance to bag important ranking points as well but Kveta was just the strongest eventually. Good match.

http://i139.photobucket.com/albums/q301/bulmasalgueiro/Roland%20Garros%202007/recorte.jpg

Anabel has a chance of the number 1 now and looks determind to do it. Sorana played a great tactical match and is learning how to send points for different players and with a bit more experiance she will be rising up the rankings soon.

http://i145.photobucket.com/albums/r203/takako_moriyama/phpXVBIeyAM.jpg
Above: Spanish Finest, Anabel Medina Garrigues Sits down after very humid Conditions.

Last week, people were wondering what was happening with miss Lourdes Dominguez Lino, loosing patheticaly7-6(6) 6-4 against Russias apprent "Clay Superstar" Mug Nadia Petrova. The Tour Director announced: "Spain has been charged $1000 Us, for thier tanking last week. They werent trying and gave the match away, its suspected that Russia Payed them But no-one can confirm that as of yet". The Spanish Team then Replies, "I would agree with you, they arent a good team, I think Coaches EDF and TW gave them to money to give to Russia".

In more positive news. Anabel Medina Garrigues won her match against Sonia Cristeria 7-6(5) 6-0. "They got loads of talent that team, maybe they need a bit more commitment, or they should look up to the big teams such as Spain, and Great Brittan, not mugs".

Amanda is in another final now at the Spaiards expense. China will stay number 1 but I am sure one day Spain will be number 1 again, as like both China and Australia, they deseve it. Anyway, the south africans have proven they a huge force on the circuit and will battle for thier first Tier I title tommorow.

I have ran out of good things to say about Russia. Nadia played, once again some amazing tennis and are in another final. Jade has had a great week and will be rewarded with a new carrer high but she wont get a place in the Berlin final, which is where Nadia is heading now.

Petrova brings first victory for Russia

http://www.tennis.info/images/Berlin6/Petrova3358.jpg

Nadia Petrova fought back from 0-6 0-3 deficit to claim historical first win for Russia in Berlin. In final Petrova's victim was Amanda Coetzer of RSA, who showed some impressive tennis that week.

As the match started, it was clear that Amanda outplayed Nadia totally. Petrova just couldn't stand the fact that Amanda gave back all balls and the russian missed a ball at the end of every point. Amanda looked cool and confident amd was just doing her job. But at the middle of second set Coetzer called a doctor and pointed that something was wrong with her shoulder. After some excersisies and doctor consulting, Coetzer decided to play but she lost all her confidence and reliability in shots. Petrova caught her and overtook in second set as she won it 6-4. In final set the thing were even easier for Nadia - 6-3.

"It's great that I won this title for my country" said Petrova. "I don't care that Amanda wasn't at her best - the fact is that we're champiuons this week and others are losers. The clay season so far is very successful for us and we also want to finish it great on Roland Garros."
