Sania Mirza balls her fist after defeating 8th seeded Brie Whitehead in their round one match at the Family Circle Cup in Charleston, South Carolina.

With a less than satisfying performence in singles at the Bausch & Lomb Championship tournament in Amelia Island, Florida, the sweetheart of the Pro Tour, Sania Mirza had a lot to prove in her opening round match against American, Brie Whitehead who was the eigth seed of the tournament and the runner up at Amelia Island. And we've once again been shown not to count Mirza out.

With a sort of topsy, turvy match and loosing the first set at love against the American, Sania saved two match points and rallied three consecutive games to take the second set, 7-5. After the second set, we saw the Mirza that we're used to seeing as she steam rolled over Whitehead, dominating the third set, 6-1. Winning with a score of 0-6, 7-5, 6-1.

"It's great to win again. I was really shocked that the 8th and 9th ranked players would have to go against each other in the first round of a tier 1 event. I knew if I wanted to go up in rankings, I would have to win this match. Hopefully I can string together a couple more wins and finally get my first title."

Mirza's next opponent will be the swash bucking Italian, Flavia Pennetta who knocked her out in round one at Amelia Island. Pennetta knocked out China's Jie Zheng who knocked out Mirza a couple weeks ago as well.

"I'm happy to face Flavia again, she will be a tough opponent as she was last week and it's great to see if I can get some revenge. If she thinks I'm going to loose to her in back to back weeks, she's got another thing coming to her."

Nikola Hofmanova now dominates, if you like or not. She one of the greatest talent. From nowhere she became the world no.4 in three weeks. But how could she done it? Now we try to find the answer.

Nikola why nobody could beat you in the last three weeks?

Sorry, but I don't no the answer too. I am just go out and play every match like I play with the world no.1. And I think is important that I like playing tennis and I am not playing tennis for earning money.

And what do you do with the earned money?

A part of it I pay for the travel and other things what necessary for I could play in the tournaments. An other part I send it to my family to help them and make their live easyer. And an other part a send it to a fundation to help talented but poor children to make their dreams.

And do you have sponsors?

Now I negotiate with some and if we could reach the agreement it will help me to focus just to playing tennis

What about the today semi against Venus?

She is a very good player. She proved a lot and yesterday she beat the amazingly good Elena. It will be a very tough match but I won't be depressed if I lose because now I won more title than I ever dreamed and if I had to retire now I would be pleased.

An unbelieveable run ended today with Nikola Hofmanova's loss to Venus Williams in Charleston semifinal [(5)Venus Williams def. (4)Nikola Hofmanova 6-3,7-6(4)]. Nikola what do you think now after one day of the match.

It's funny but I had to say I'm a little bit happy with this lose. Now not I'm the one who won the last tournament or the one who unbeaten, and now for me more easier to play the matches. But to lose is never a good thing.I went out and tried to do my best and it wasn't enough so this time I lost. Now I have a little time to rest before the next tournament and I really need this after the big strain of the last few weeks.

Can you say something about the match itself?

Yes of course. I want to win the first but Venus was too good. I tried every kind of playing style but she had the right answer to everything. In the second set I thought I would win because I led to 5-3 and I served, but in the beginning of the 10th game I haved injured and after that I couldn't play my game and I lost in two sets.

This injury prevent you to play doubles and mixed doubles?

No. Thanks to my trainer I feel myself much better and I think I could play with Vera and John. With Vera we have a very good chance to be in the final because we and our "worst enemy" in the different half of the draws so we could meet only in the final.

if you did this it's a bit bad for me because you thought a plan what beat me (my new plan) is not good enought to my with it in the final :)
