And they sepctators are very good. The players are just take a short trip from Miami to here, so they might be very good with their stamina. I think I am going to do somewhat of a points system change for the Clay Season.
like WFC scoring, but with 150 points in each set...

I dont think the points system to be changed its easy like this dosnt take long to think of a stragety and its good the way you can change points so I think it should stay like this but thats just my opinion ;)

Sania Mirza arrives at a player's party thrown by the organizers of the Bausch & Lomb Championship tournament.

The clay season is officially beginning with it's first tournament, the Bausch & Lomb Championship at Amelia Island, Florida. The teir 2 event which is worth $600,000 dollars, is loaded with star power that assure to make the first event on clay a exciting one.

There have been many new faces on tour that have been dominate such as Junior Tour champion, Urszula Radwanska who won Indian Wells two weeks ago, and Nikola Hofmanova who recently just captured her first title in Miami. However, one face has reappeared to state that she's still a threat, and that face is Sania Mirza.

After back to back round one knock outs in the Middle East, Mirza came to the American tournaments with a lot to prove, at Indian Wells, she showed a little bit of that sparkle we saw at Antwerp, but it was gone when she lost in the second round. However, we saw a lot more of her Antwerp run in Miami, but a little too much of the Antwerp expierce when Mirza reached the finals, but lost. With her finals appearence, Sania once again cracks the top 10 this time with a career high ranking of number seven.

"I was shocked when I found out how many spots I went up. Being in the top 10 is very exciting and it makes me feel like I'm one of the best in the world."

With her high ranking, Mirza will be seeded for the first time at the Bausch & Lomb Championships. She will be the seventh seed of the event and she has a round one match against Italian, Flavia Pennetta.

"I love the fact that I'm seeded. I feel pretty secure in the fact that I could go deep in this tournament and the seeded players haven't been doing well at all over the past couple of weeks. I think I'm going to have to put an end to that."

With all the excitement of the tournament, more joy comes to Mirza as another one of her Sprite ads will be debuting in Amelia Island. Her last one at Indian Wells went better than expected and Sprites were literally sold out at the event.

"I'm very happy that my advertisements are going well along with my game. I'm going to put the Miami finals behind me and focus on my first task at hand, Flavia. After I'm done with her, I'll focus on the finals... better yet, I'll focus on a title."

DEMENTIEVA WANTS TO WIN AGAIN

After last week's disappointed result, the Russian number one wants to win again.

"Last week, we played in Miami, and I think that tournament is the 5th Grand Slam. I won the Australian Open and that's why want to win the Sony Ericsson Open. But I think I concentrated on the next round too much. I underestimated my opponent a small and for this been the result sad."

After the match the Russian star flew to Moscow, and take a little rest before the first clay tournament of the year.

"And before I flew to Moscow, we went out with my doubles partner and we drank much. This get a little luck for us, because after that we played final in doubles."

Now, in Amelia Island Dementieva first opponent in singles Yuliana Fedak. And in doubles finally they're seeded.

"Fedak is a great player, I believe and I want to beat her. I work strongly and hope I'll play final at least. In doubles [with Nicole] we want to win a tournament definitely. We're in a good form and I hope we'll be unbeatable."

New place, new surface, this is very, very hard change for the players, but fortunaltey Dementieva was able to win a match.
The opponent was Yuliana Fedak, who won the junior Australian Open 3 weeks ago, and Lena beat her in 3 sets.

"I lost the first set 0-6. I played so badly and I hit more than 10 DF's. It's too many for me. Yuliana was strong, she served really good, so that's happened." - said the currently number one after the match.

"In the second set, she broke me again, and she led 2-0. I thought I lost it, but suddenly I served 2 aces and hit 2 winners, and I won my first game. After I was good, but not really good and I managed to win this match 0-6 6-2 6-4."

Vera Zvonareva of Russia beat Georgian Margalita Chaknashvili 6-2,6-2 in a match that lasted only 56 min."I can't even believe how well I played today, Margalita wasent even playing that bad I think I played some of my best tennis ever today, good luck in doubles Margalita!"

Zvonareva's next opponent will be the 5th ranked Venus Williams of the United States."Venus is such a great player,when she's on she can beat anybody, I lost to her a few weeks ago but I'm hoping the result will be different this time"

Zvonareva and her doubles partner Nikola Hoffmanova are playing some very good tennis right now only having lost to one team.Twice.Elena Dementieva & Nicole Vaidisova. They first lost to them in the finals of Indian Wells,then again a week later in the Miami Semi-Finals."If we win our first round we would most likely play them again,this time if we play them we know their games better so I think we can win" said a confident Zvonareva.

The world number 5, American Venus Williams, progressed comfortably into the second round of the Bausch and Lomb championships yesterday dispatching of Peurto Rican Vilmarie Castevilli in staright sets. The American look good in her first match of the season and after trailing 0-4 in the first set played some great tennis to win in 15 minutes past the hour.

"Im really happy with the way I played today" said Venus at her press conference "I recovered after a bad start and served good and played well compared to how I usually do on the clay. I read Vilmaries gameplan effectively and that was the key. Overall it was a good day"

Next up for Venus is Russian Vera Zvonereva who is in the second round with the loss of just four games. "She played excellent tennis yesterday" said Venus "She hits hard, plays tactically and is so fast round the court I know it wont be easy. But I have beaten her before and knows what it takes but this is Clay - very different. However I will go in confident and hopeful of another Quarter Final.

Elsewhere yesterday, Venus' sister Serena escaped a third set tiebrake against Australian Jelena Dokic, winning it 8-6 and World Number 1 Elena Dementieva had her first win in a week defeating Australian Open Junior Champion Yuliana Fedak. The second round are scheduled for later tonight.

Venus Williams escaped another tough match today on Centre Court defeating Russian Vera Zvonareva in three sets. After another poor start Venus clawed back from two breaks down to force the match into a tiebrake where she won easily 7-0. Then she lost her concentration completly to a powerful Vera and lost the next eight game trailing 0-6 0-2 in the two final sets. However, a good blend of speed, aggression, tactics and confidence saw Venus power to the last six games to take a confidence-boosting victory in 5 minutes short of two hours.

"It was a bit of a topsy-turvy match for me today but Im glad I came out with the win" said Venus who no goes on to face Serbian Jelena Jankovic "I havnt been playing my best yet but Im getting there and getting use to this surface and so I am happy with my win today. Its coming together now slowly but surely and soon I think I will feel confident on this surface.

Venus was now sheduled to play the world number 1 Elena Dementieva but instead has Jelena Jankovic in her sights. Jankovic defeated Elena 6-3 6-4 today in one of the most commanding victories yet.
"After seeing Jelena play yesterday I see she is playing fantastically and I could be in real trouble if she plays like that later today. She just goes for all shots and dosnt have a weakness, shes just beaten the number 1 so ger confidence will be high as well. It will be very difficult but I will try to play a great match"

Elsewhere yesterday Venus' sister survived another tough enocounter, dispatching of Alona Bondarnenko 3-67-6(3) 6-3. Elsewhere the number 3 and 4 seeds, Kirilenko and Garbin joined Dementieva on the casualties list. This means the Williams sisters will be the highest ranked players competing at tonights semi finals.

Sania Mirza takes a moment to think during her first round match against Flavia Pennetta.

Sania Mirza had all the spirit she needed to win her first round match against Flavia Pennetta, however she lacked the energy to do so. The two-time tour finalst had a huge oppertunity to take this title but once again blew her chances. And once again we see her knocked out in the first round right after reaching a final in her previous event.

"I was just too tired. After the second set, I was drained. It was a very hot day and I kept finding myself out of breath really quickly. I felt like I was going to puke my brains out."

Luckily she didn't. But unluckily, she lost the match in three sets; 2-6, 6-0, 5-7. After dropping the first set, Mirza took off running in the second set and never looked back winning eight consecutive games, going up 2-0 in the third but seemed to hit a brick wall hard. She lost the next four straight games to go down 2-4. After a hold of service from both players, Pennetta had a chance to knock out Mirza with a 5-3 lead. Sania battled back to win the next two games but after that Flavia just steamrolled over the young Indian star to take the third and final set 7-5.

"I fought for as long as I could and then some. She was smart and saved enough energy for the third set, I barely had enough energy throughout the match. I still feel a little tired even though it's been a couple days since I lost."

As far as a title campgien for Mirza goes, she's still in the doubles draw. Strangely, no doubles matches have commenced yet in the tournament due to reasons unknown by many.

"I'm still waiting on the word for when doubles matches are set to play, I think Mary and I will have a great week and maybe even get another title to give company to our Antwerp title."

"So I lost to Jelena last night, 2-6 6-4 6-4. I had triple break point at 4-4 in the second set and just let her back into the match. I am so dissapointed. That was a great chance wasted, I blew it. I cant quite believe it. But its just a match and Jelena played brilliantly today, and with my sister Serena out now as well I hope she goes on to win the tournament. I will now have to get ready for doubles with my sister and then go to the next tournament. Soon, once Ive got used to this surface and Im in better shape Il be winning tournaments once again"

Sania Mirza celebrates at the net after winning match point in her second doubles match of the day.

After seemingly being in a slump for the last couple of tournaments, the fourth ranked doubles team in the world compiled of Sania Mirza and Mary Pierce have strung together a couple of wins to reach the semi-finals of the Bausch & Lomb Championships.

Their semi-final opponent are the world's number one in singles, Elena Dementieva, and Czech, Nicole Vadisova. The duo are the second ranked doubles team in the world.

"I'm glad that Mary and I reached this far. I made the mark last night that I didn't know when doubles matches were going to occur then all the sudden Mary wakes me up and says that we have a match so I got up, played, we won and I was going back to the hotel Mary said come on we have one more. So it's definently been a busy day."

The team of Mirza and Pierce have spent about 4 hours on the courts today and will be given time to rest up before their semi-final match against the second-seed team in the tournament. Mirza seems to be finding her clay game even though she lost in the first round in singles competition.

"The thing I love about doubles is that it gives you a second chance. If you had a bad result in singles, you get to stay a little bit longer and play doubles to figure out what's wrong. I have a butt load of energy now thanks to Sprite! Look for my new ad coming later today!"

The 2nd seed team really wants to win their second trophy, but they couldn't win their semifinal unfortunately.

"Well, we're so disappointed, we're a good team, we played final in Miami and we won in Indian Wells, but today we couldn't do anything and that's why we lost."

Lena/Nicole lost the first set 1-6, after that they played much better.

"At 5-4 in the second, we broke Sania's serve, she served 2 DF's, so we had a really good chance, and we were able to win it. But in the supertiebreak Sania served 2 aces, and I served 2 DF's. I hate supertiebreaks."

"They won it, they won it easly... To be perfectly honest the best two teams met in the semifinal, and this isn't a good thing. The next tournament will take place in Charleston, what I reckon is that we want to win it!"

Mary Pierce and Sania Mirza hold up their doubles trophies for winning the Bausch & Lomb Championship.

The Indian/French duo of Sania Mirza and Mary Pierce once again proved why they're always going to be considered a threat in the world of doubles by knocking out the favorites to win the title, second seeded Elena Dementieva and Nicole Vadisova then going on to defeat the Williams sisters, Venus and Serena in the finals.

"We played amazing today. I think the win over Elena and Nicole gave Mary and myself the confidence to beat Venus and Serena. Our semi-final match was a very long one and I could tell the winners of that match would win the title, so I just knew that Mary and I needed to win, and we did."

In the championship match, Sania and Mary showed Venus and Serena power tennis on clay and dominated the supertiebreak 10-2. They had the Americans scrambling for shots that became more and more impossible to return as the match continued. After an hour and 27 minutes, Sania Mirza and Mary Pierce once again shrieked with victory and ran to give each other a hug. They were once again champions.

"Winning one title is great, but when you say you've won titles, with the "s" it's even better. I'm so happy we won here, we needed it. We're definently going to be looking forward to another title in Charleston."

Joining Sania and Mary as a champion here at Amelia Island is the singles champion Nikola Hofmanova. She won her second consecutive title this time defeating American, Brie Whitehead in three sets.

"She's definently doing well for herself." Mirza commented on Hofmanova. "She's a big threat for everyone on tour because she hasn't lost a match in two weeks."

The award ceremony was beautiful as Hofmanova, Mirza and Pierce all excepted their beautiful trophies, and posed for pictures for the press. Mirza was asked about how she felt about Venus Williams and Elena Dementieva trying to take her title as Article Whore of the Week.

"Well they gave me a run for my money, but just like I kicked their asses in doubles, I kicked it in articles too. Nice try girls, but next time, leave it to a professional."
