The young Russian hadn't won much in this Junior Tour this season but showed the fighting spirit and heart that has made her a popular and recognizeable young player for the future. Her opponent was in the form of Michelle Larcher De Brito, Portugal's biggest hopes in finding a champion. Both fought hard in a high quality and competitive match but Pivovarova showed her heart and strength and beat De Brito 76(6)* 67(6) 76(6)*.

In the first set, the two young stars found it difficult to hold serve and the pressure making returns from the receiving ends made it even more difficult. However, Pivovarova was steadier on her serve and won the first set 7/6(6).

In the second set, both players stepped it up a notch and held serve more frequently. Despite leading 4-2 in the tiebreak, Pivovarova pushed the ball several times and Michelle smashed it with great groundstrokes, fighting back and winning the second set by the same score as the first.

Finally, the most competitive set of them all. Which happened to be the final set. Most games went to deuce and it was pretty much even. Both players had the same amount of winners and unforced errors. However, in the tiebreak, Michelle grew tight and double faulted on Pivovarova's match point at 6-5*. The young Moscow native shrieked in delight and threw a fist pump and a few balls into the crowd. She also gave a big hug to a perhaps future champion.

"I feel very, very tired but I think this gave me the confidence I needed. I think there was so many oppurtunities when I could've lost the match but I kept on trying and trying. I hope to go even further. Maybe even win the tournament!"
