Welcome to Beijing for the first "special" WMFT event! This week, we've got the Beijing Team Championships! Over the past week, you have formed your teams, and now we've got a 10-team draw, each with 4 players. You will compete in 7 events: 2 women's singles, 2 men's singles, men's doubles, women's doubles, and mixed doubles. After a week, we will have only one winner, 1 team able to call themselves the Season 1 Team Champions! Good luck to everyone :)



The draw can be found attached to this post. It is done by player's coaches names. If you have any questions about what players are on a certain team, just check page 2 of the draw and you'll see details of each team. If you still have questions, ask! :D

Send points to I<3Lindsay, use 200 points for every event!
Points due: Sunday, October 7th at 7:00 PM EST
*Sending new points each week is recommended for better results*

I'm sorry everyone for just springing this on you right now... But I've been thinking about it and I've decided that THERE WILL BE NO SURFACES. Instead, EVERYONE WILL HAVE 200 POINTS.

This way, you don't have to send new points each round, it makes it easier for me to count up point totals, and it just saves a whole lot of time! I'm sorry to the one team that already sent points... I'll be sending out new PM's right now to everyone.

mens doubles is the same points as mens singles, only one player needs to send for doubles

womens is the same as womens singles also

Venus Williams and Guillermo Coria (above) were key players in the 7-0win over team 10 in the first round of Beijing.

Team 7 started off the Beijing Championships with a bang by ousting team 10 7-0. The team was led by luvwuvu's players of Venus Williams and Guillermo Coria. Williams defeated Tamerine Tanasungarn 7-5,6-0 in Womens Singles A and Guillermo Coria defeated Paradorn Srichaphan 3-6,6-3,7-6(1). Irwyn's team didnt have to touch a ball as they both got walk overs.

The team later dominated in doubles and next faces team two.

Top Seeds Advance, Olaru Only Casualty.

The top seeded duo of NEA/PSALT were not disappointed in the Quarter Finals of Beijing, as their players advanced with a 6-1 win over Team 8, The Daviator/dAdEx. Despite the lopsided scoreline, only one of the matches were straight sets, and, more often than not, the lower ranked team gave up brave fights before faltering near the end.

On Day 1 singles were held. Always steady and dependable Amelie Mauresmo, bitter and on the rebound after the loss of the number 1 ranking, put the top seeds on good footing with a solid 6-3 6-4 victory over Ana Ivanovic. Second Women Singles followed, Olaru versus Radwanska. Olaru took the first set after running away with the tiebreak, it was not to be, however, as Radwanska took a hold of the second set early and never let go. After losing the the second set 3-6, Olaru was involved in a slight confrontation with Mauresmo, and the visibily upset Romanian went on to lose 7-6 3-6 3-6, a shock considering she had just come off a French Open final. After the match many fans recall seeing Raluca fall under the deluge of severe emotional, and, indeed, even physical abuse at the hands of the Frenchwoman. The French Open champion, Nadal, and finalist, Almagro, then survived marathons to put the top seeds a win away from the semis after Day 1. Team appointed spokeswoman, Olaru, had nothign but praise for her team mates after the matches.

"Amelie is great, she is best player in world right now, you know. We all knew we could count on her, and she, like always, came through and showed why she is the real number one player in the world. Ummm...... you know, she is amazing. Ana had no chances. Yeah......"

On Day 2 the trend of tough three set matches continued, but the 8th seeds found less success, falling in all three matches. Tommorow NEA/PSALT will play the 5th seeds, Tennisbuddy and Tennis-Chick.

I worked out the statistics for it and theirs about an 80% chance that we win the womens doubles, 40% chance we win the mens doubles (no offence patch its simply taking the results of both mens doubles teams so far), and 65% chance we win the mixed doubles.

Your team has to win all 3 to win the title so thats a (0.2*0.6*0.35) 4.2% chance :tape:

Sorry everyone, this week is just a little behind. I've decided not to start Week #12 until tomorrow or the next day, since this is a really busy week for me. I'll try to do rankings tomorrow, then the tournament thread will be released sometime after that..... plus this way people will get 3, 4, 5 days to send in new points :)
