Preview and Predictions

Wimbledon will start today and as the Roland Garros Champion,I'll make my own predictions(mainly based on the grass court season) on who will win the prestigious title in Wimbledon in a week's time.
*This is of course just for fun,if whoever dislikes it,please refrain from reading.And you're reading at your own risks.*

The Favorites:
1)Alicia Molik-The current US Open champion is the best and the most consistent player on tour at the moment.:worship: She's been at least in the quarterfinals everytime as long as I can remember.:lol: Based on her performances from the previous weeks(2 titles in 3 finals),she's basically unbeatable on tour but she of course needs to beware of her new foe,that's me who has beaten her on her last two losses this season(in Paris and recently in Eastbourne).This will depend on how I'll do on my quarter though.;) No matter what,she's unarguably the HOTTEST favourite for her second grand slam title.Possibly Mary Pierce awaits her in the second round.

2)Tatiana Panova-Another player who's been also very consistent so far on grass(quarterfinal in Birmingham,semifinals in both Ordina Open and in Eastbourne).Although she's quite unlucky against in-form players but if she gets past it,she'll be almost assured of the title.Not to forget she's the finalist here last season,so she's definitely eager to claim this title.Possible semifinal match-up against Alicia or Tatiana Golovin.:D

3)Tatiana Golovin-As I have mentioned her just now,Although she's ranked seventh,she's another player to watch out for in Wimbledon.A Semifinal in Eastbourne and final appearance in Ordina definitely will help her gain some confindence in Wimbledon but she needs to play much better than now if she's to face Alicia in their possible quarterfinal match.:)

4)Ana Ivanovic-The #4 ranked Serbian is also playing pretty well on grass too.She's lived up on her expectations so far(final in Ordina Open and semifinal in Birmingham) but her shocking first round loss last week in Eastbourne may stir some doubt on her ability to eventually capture the title this week.However,all eyes on her possible match-up either against me or Elena in the semifinals.:hearts:

The Contenders:
1)Anastassia Rodionova-Well,not to bluff or whatever,I seem to be feeling pretty good recently.Although I was blown off court by Victoria Azarenka in DFS Classic after winning Roland Garros,I won my third title last week and a quarterfinal appearance in Ordina Open certainly boost my confidence.But I don't think I'll win Wimbledon anyway since I've make some slight changes on my game plan,so we'll see.But definitely watch out for me,especially you,Alicia!:devil:

2)Elena Dementieva-Not a very satisfied performance so far for the #2 seeded player.Even her coach doubted her ability to win two straight matches on grass.But if the Australian Open champ is able beat me and Ana this week,I don't see why she can't win the coveted title.Go Lena!:kiss:

3)Mary Pierce-I have had a hard time whether to put Mary in the contenders list or the darkhorses list.Although not playing as well as expected since coming back from retirement,since she is the two time Wimbledon winner and her coach is Svetlana's old coach,so I think there should be no argument with this for sure.:unsure:

The Darkhorses:
1)Anna Kournikova-She's not been playing well recently.Perhaps she's too busy on her other commitments other than tennis.;)If she can make a couple of upsets,the title may as well go to her.

2)Maria Sharapova-Same as Anna.She's not doing pretty well since she has changed a new coach.:o But I believe she's capable of returning to the top where she's supposed to be if she can win the trophy.

3)Nicole Vaidisova-Since marrying to Yuran,she's been having ups and downs on her career.:rolleyes: A semifinal appearance in Ordina Open shows that she's capable of playing well on grass.

4)Svetlana Kuznetsova-Almost same as Nicole's(a semifinal in S' Hertogenbosch) but I think she's more talented than Nicole.:p And she's not pretty committed on grass season but in grand slams,I think she'll definitely be pumped up for it.

The Dangerous Floaters:
1)Tamarine Tanasugarn-Semifinal in Australia and Final in Paris.:cool: She knows how to play well on big tournaments but other than that,her performance were far less impressive.At least she did reach the quarters in Ordina Open though.May face Lena in the second round.

2)Lindsay Davenport-The fifth seed,who's not been committed in tennis since Paris,was one of the semifinalist last season so you should know how well Lindsay can play if she's really into it.So I hope her coach will be back on time before Wimbledon starts.:unsure:

3)Alona Bondarenko-Well,well,she's one of the committed players who's also pretty gifted but always sinks in the second round of every events recently.I hope she'll break the curse here in Wimbledon.And may face me or Elena in the quarters.:eek:

4)Victoria Azarenka-Watch out for this girl!She beat me twice before(once was when after I won Roland Garros!!!:tape: ) and has upset a few players if I remember correctly.She's very dangerous when she gets her game on.

5)Mashona Washington,Ashley Harkleroad and Flavia Pennetta-Been to one quarterfinal on grass in different events each but not considered a big threat to the best players yet.

Now first round predictions:

Mary Pierce vs Anastasia Myskina:I'll go for the Queen of Tiebreaks.Sorry Nastya.

Tatiana Golovin vs Gisela Dulko:Tati definitely.Dulko's coach hasn't been committed too.

Flavia Pennetta vs Victoria Azarenka:Tough one but I think Vika will prevail.

Maria Sharapova vs Shahar Peer:Should be easy for Masha.

Amelie Mauresmo vs Elena Baltacha:No idea.But I think Elena will upset Momo.

Ashley Harkleroad vs Xin-Yun Han:Ash.

Anna Kournikova vs Alona Bondarenko:Well,I want to pick Anna but Alona never lose first round matches before.;)

Svetlana Kuznetsova vs Tamira Paszek:Win Sveta.

Congratulations Alona on your win today; what are your feelings after the match?
Obviously I am happy I won but I am dissapointed with my match. I dont feel like I played my best today which is dissapointing but I am happy I managed to pull through.

Can you tell us how the match went for you?
Well In the first set she was amazing. Just too good; I couldnt hit any good shots at all. The second and third sets I concentrated a bit better and hit some better shots. I also served better which is important for me. In the end it just came down to my mental strength and at least that was there today.

You are yet to lose a first round match at a tournament - did that give you confidence today?
(Laughs) Well it is nice to keep that run of form going. I suppose it is somthing that gives you confidence but in the end it dosnt really count for anything when your on court. When you are out on court you are just trying to beat the other player. Simple as. Anna played a great match and I congratulate her on that.

Now you face the dreaded second round; you are facing Svetlana Kuznetsova. How do you feel about this?
Now its dreaded is it?! (Laughs) Well I will hope to play a good match and make it into my first Quarterfinals. Svetlana is an awesome compeitior so I cant take anything for granted but I really want my first Quarterfinal to be in Wimbledon. That would be fantastic.

So what it your mindset for your next match?
Just to go out there, correct the mistakes I made today and come away with a good match. Win or Lose, I want to be able to say I played a very good match and did my best so I will try my very best to be able to say that after the second round
