Moderator: Congrats Rodionova for your victory today.So what's your opinion about your match against Dementieva?
Rodionova: Ok.Firstly,thanks you for congratulating me.Now,back to busniess.I think it was another pretty good match from both of us if we count out all the unforced errors and double faults(laugh).Frankly,the scoreline says it all.I didn't know actually how I was playing.I just hit the ball out there at first.Although leading the first set 3-1,somehow she managed to win it.Perhaps I was a little nervous because I wanted to win that match if possible.So I try to calm myself down.Then it was much better play from me later in the match.

Moderator: Do you mean you played great from then on?
Rodionova: Well,kinda.I tried to gain my momentum in the match,hit some good winners and cut down my unforced errors as the match goes on.I tried to make her run around the court.And she made more and more mistakes in the end,the double faults.Yeah.I felt I improved in the last two sets.But definitely the last two sets were pretty tight as anyone of us could actually win.

Moderator: Was it difficult to play against Dementieva at this stage of the tournament?
Rodionova: Absolutely.We have played against each other I think for 3 or 4 times if I can remember well.We are also playing doubles together,so we definitely appreciate one another.But since this is tennis and someone has to win while the other has to lose.So I put our friendship off the court and play my best.I know she also feel the same.It definitely sucks as I mentioned earlier that we have to play so early.We have always met before the semifinals.So I kinda feel sorry for her sometimes when I win.But no doubt she's a good player.#2 player in the world and she's the current Australian Open champion.So there's no doubt on her ability to play well.It's just her luck.

Moderator: Speaking about doubles,you and Dementieva have lost your doubles match earlier.
Rodionova: Yeah.I was so sad about that.Lena was quite upset too.She seemed to have no idea why she was playing so poor recently.We really wanted to win this doubles grand slam title together.We are in good form and we thought we played pretty good but Alona and Vika was a bit stronger today.So well,at least we could contend with the two tier I doubles titles first.All the best to Alona and Vika.Lena and I will definitely feel better if we know we eventually lost against the champion.

Moderator: You'll face Svetlana Kuznetsova next.Any opinion about the match?
Rodionova: As I mentioned before in my predictions,she hasn't got a very impressive season on grass prior to Wimbledon.But in grand slams,she's one of those to be watched out for.She's very talented.I heard she just beat Ana just now,right?What was the score?

Moderator: It's 6-1,0-6,6-4.
Rodionova: That's why she's a good player.Ana was one of the best players out there but she managed to win her.This means she's playing pretty well right now.At this stage,everyone is definitely playing their best.So I just hope I'll have something to cheer about tomorrow.

Moderator: And according to your previews and predictions,which you have done before Wimbledon started,you picked Alicia Molik,Ana Ivanovic,Tatiana Panova and Tatiana Golovin as the favourites to win Wimbledon.Ironically,the results are different as predicted.
Rodionova: Ah,yeah.It was definitely very surprising,not even one of them are in the semis!Perhaps I jinxed them(laugh).Sorry guys.But that was based on my own observations and opinion,so if they were beaten,then there's not much to talk about too.Perhaps their opponent was better or they were not in good form when they lost.Anything can happen in tennis.

Moderator: However,the semifinalist now are Mary Pierce,Maria Sharapova,Svetlana Kuznetsova and you yourself.Rodionova: Yeah.I remember I picked myself as the contender while the others are the darkhorses.Well,being a darkhorse is nothing bad I assume.They are all good players but it's just they didn't perform well before coming into Wimbledon.For instance,Mary is the two time winner,so that's nothing surprising.Svetlana and Maria were the top players before,so they do know how to perform well on big stages.So we'll see what will happen tomorrow.

Rodionova Battles Past Kuznetsova, Reaches Final Against Pierce

It's another great victory from Anastassia Rodionova yet again,this time she defeated her Russian compatriot Svetlana Kuznetsova in the semifinal 4-6,6-3,7-5 to advance to her second consecutive grand slam singles final and also her second consecutive event final.

Both players started off the match pretty well where none of them wanted to lose their serve.However,Kuznetsova broke Rodionova's serve when the sixth seed was serving at 3 all.Kuznetsova eventually won that set 6-4 after consolidating her advantage with her own serve.In the second set,Rodionova seemed to be playing better and led the set 4-0.The eleventh seed,who won Ana Ivanovic in the previous round,trying to fight back but to no avail.Rodionova later claimed the set 6-3.

It was a pretty much solid play from both players in the decisive set where both of them didn't lose a break of their own serve.However,when it looked like it was going to be ended in a tiebreak,the Roland Garros champion stepped up her game when it matters most and hit a backhand crosscourt to win the only break point of the set.Kuznetsova couldn't reply her opponent's shots and went down to Rodionova after two hours and twenty six minutes of play.

"Wow!Another great match!I couldn't believe I wob again!I was expecting Sveta to win this as she beat Ana very convincingly but honestly,I didn't ever think of losing.I just hope to play my best and hopefully miracle happens.And it did.Well,it was a pretty good quality match overall.However,as the match went on,both of us seemed pretty tired.I almost fainted on the court but I tried to hit the balls to the angles and hope for some winners as well as from her errors.And now,I'm in the final of a grand slam once again!"

"I'll face Mary in our last match of the tournament.As all of us know,she's the 2 time winner here and is playing pretty well this week even her performances in other events were not that satisfying.But who cares,she didn't even think to play well for those small events.Perhaps she saves her best for this Wimbledon and going for a hat-trick(laugh).Since I beat her recently,so I hope I am able to end her streak here and add another grand slam singles title under my name.I definitely will try my best to win it if possible.But the most important thing I hope is to enjoy the atmosphere here in Wimbledon.All the best,Mary!"

Rodionova Achieves The Impossible

Russian #3 player Anastassia Rodionova shocked the world again,this time by defeating 2 times Wimbledon champion Mary Pierce in a nail-biting three setter 6-7(3),7-6(5),6-1.

It was a good day in Wimbledon where both players showed up in the Centre Court.Rodionova served first to start of the match.Both players were pretty solid on the first few games but Rodionova got one break lead and was leading 4-2 at one point.But she somehow seemed to be lost as the match went on.Her unforced errors and doubles faults stats started to pile up and her first serve percentage dropped.It eventually went to a tiebreak and Pierce won the tiebreak 7-3 comfortably.The Roland Garros champion was very frustrated and showed off her emotions by smashing her racquet onto the ground after she lost the first set.Consequently,she was given a warning for racquet abuse by the umpire.

In the second set,similar things happen again when the #6 seed led the set 3-0.But once again,everything suddenly went against her.The bad calls by the linesman,her silly shots at certain times,Pierce's aces...all made her more angry.She growled and screamed at herself at times on the court.With a 4-2 lead,Rodionova wasted it and Pierce managed to level the set and it went to a tiebreak once more.This seemed to be the end for Rodionova as the Frenchwoman is known as the 'Queen of Tiebreaks' on the tour as shown in the first set and during the whole tournament.Unsurprisingly,the eleventh seed took a 5-2 advantage in the tiebreak when Rodionova made all double faults with her own serve.And with that,Pierce was just two points away from becoming the first three-time winner for a tournament.The crowd wouldn't want to see this match ended quickly and so they cheer for Rodionova.Pierce had her own serve to close out the match but she hit her forehand wide,double-faulted,couldn't reply Rodionova's drop volley and made another long return when Rodionova was serving.By doing so,the Russian eventually levelled the tiebreak at 5 all.She then went on to hit two clean winners from her racquet and finally won the tiebreak 7-5.

The match went to a decisive set.But this time,Rodionova seemed to be more confident compared to usual and she played her first serves much better and even fired some aces to put herself into a 4-0 lead.The Frenchwoman,on the other hand,seemed to be losing herself after losing the tiebreak,she didn't put up a fight to make a comeback.Rodionova just make winners over winners against her opponent.After just over two hours of play,Rodionova became the first Roland Garros champion to win Wimbledon.She claimed the set 6-1.

"Oh my god!!!I am so so so thrilled right now!I never believe I could win this prestigous title but now it's like I was still dreaming!But first,I have to congratulate Mary and her team for making thus far.Good match.She's no doubt a great champion,great person.She had proved everyone wrong that she's playing worse before Wimbledon but her determination had kept her here.So well done.Of course,thanks for my team.Thanks for the eternal support that you all have given me.They make me believe in myself after I won the French Open.To the sponsors and to the the organisers,thank you for making this grand slam a successful one.And of course,how can I forget my fans and the spectacular crowd.Thanks guys for cheering for me.And I'd like to thank everyone who is participating in this tournament.I'll definitely come to defend my title next year!See you guys then!"
