Patch Sep 3rd, 2007, 04:57 PM New to the WTT...
Blogger of the Week
As no-one was really writing articles () I have decided to add somthing new to the WTT; the Blogger of the Week! If you decide to be the Blogger of the Week you write articles about your countires results in the tournament or review the matches played for bonus surface points to use at next tournament.
If write at least 3 articles you will get 20 extra pts. But if you write 5 or more articles you can get 30 Bouns pts, so being Blogger of the week could reallly help you in the tournaments to come.
There will be only 1 Blogger at a tournament so we can have 1 at Acapulco and 1 at Tokyo but not 2 at Acapulco and 0 at Tokyo. If two people want to be blogger of the week then its first come first serve - the only exception is at Grand Slams where it can be numerous countries blogging. Not everyone has to be blogger of the week and we dont need a blogger every week if you dont want but it would be nice we had some starting here!!
So to start of - Anyone Intrested this Week??

Hey Everyone! It was very exciting to be named Blogger of the week here in sunny Mexico...well not so sunny anymore, since there's a hurricane blowing in nearby Honduras, so it's been kind of grey and cloudy and a bit rainy from time to time. I arrived at the hotel at around 1 in the afternoon after my plane was delayed through Mexico City. I had to take the train, which was a bit of a scary task for me. Oh well!
The food in Acapulco is very good, but touristy at the same time. For example, I asked for tamales, which are pretty healthy for you (stewed chicken and spices wrapped in cornmeal and steamed in a banana leaf) but instead I got this greasy mess. I mean, it was tasty but still! My sister Elke is here with me as well, and she had her first margarita. I think they're pretty tasty, and she liked hers, but knew that she wouldn't drink all of it. Justine, Els, and Caroline will be here to support me in a few hours. I can't wait for the great times we'll have here! To all my fans, I love you and wish you all the best.
Kim ;)

Spain d. Italy 7-5 6-3
SPain once again proved that they are very big and strong team on the clay surface, wining thier second title on caly, when there have only been 2 clay tounaments. After not having a convincing Australian open, they came out here and showed the crouds what there made of, Fighting off many strong teams, And defeating Italy in a strong final
Anabel Medina Garrigues: "Aranxtra played so well, i didnt expect her to win the title, we recently let her in our team and we are porud that she played so well. I must say We are a threat to almost every title now, we have been playing some good tennis, and we are happy"
Anaxtra Parra Santoga: "im shocked the first time i play for my home team, spain and we win the title. I was happy when i won my first match, i did struggly, but it is good to get my win over belguin considering Spain lost to them earlier this season. But i dont think we will play such good tennis on other surfaces which worry me"

Qualification
[1] BLR Victoria Azanreka vs. JPN Ai Sugiyama
I think Azanareka has the advantage here, her game is suited to clay and Belarus are becoming a strong team. However you never know what youll get from Ai and she may cause a suprise today.
Patch Picks - Azanreka in 3
RUS Elena Dementieva vs. [2] CAN Gabriela Dabrowski
Dementieva has been given the hard task of starting of Russias campaign under a new coach but I think she has the capabilities. Both Countires need this win so I think it will be very close

Quarter Finals
1 ESP Anabel Medina Garrigues vs. UKR Viktoria Kutuzova
Ukraine are a very good team but you would be very brave to bet against the Spainards on Clay; theyve looke supreme in the first two tournaments it will take somthing great to dethrone them
Patch Picks- Medina Garrigues in 2
Q1 vs. 3 AUS Alicia Molik
Molik plays the winner of Azanreka/Sugiyama and I believe she has the beating of both. This could easily go into 3 sets but Molik is a real fighter abd always plays her very best.
Patch Picks - Molik in 3
4 BEL Kim Clijsters vs. PUR Kristina Brandi
This is defently the hardest match to call.Clijsters is a fighter to the end but Brandi is an up and coming talent with a bright future on the tour. This one will go to the wire but I think experiance will just pay off.
Patch Picks - Clijsters in (a very close!) 3
Q2 vs. 2 ITA Karin Knapp
Karin should certainly be inspired by Flavia Pennetta good run of form lately and that should see her thorugh. She knows she got a good talent against but I think she will just have enough

Hey guys. The hurricane didn't hit, thank heaven! It could have done so much damage here in the touristy part of Mexico. There was another hurricane from the Pacific coming in as well. We looked at the surf on the beach and it was very dangerous. The swells were incredibly high, and we didn't get in the water. It was a touch windy as well, which really wreaked havoc on my serve. I didn't really practice it too much. Then, Brian and I went out for our little private time. He got tickets to an authentic bullfight, though I didn't care too much for the violence. We went to a cute Mexican restaurant, that wasn't at all touristy. It was really cool. The Mexican people were so outrageously nice. I loved everything about Acapulco so far. My points are going to be sent in a while, and I'll be playing in the maindraw. I open against puertorriquense Kristina Brandi (see, I'm picking up some Spanish). Me siento que este partido sera muy dificil para ganar, porque ella esta muy fuerte en la terre battue. Necesitaré jugar sin...boo boos, haha! I tried. I really did. I forgot the word for mistakes. Oh well, I'll figure it out and see you later. Chao, como siempre:

Hello everyone! I was playing my match today against Puerto Rican Kristina Brandi. She defeated me, though I got one set 6/1, 3/6, 4/6. It was kinda sad to leave the tournament so soon. I felt I had a good chance, but I also knew that I was injured. I pulled a muscle in my back during practice serving, and it wasn't better all match long. Unfortunately, after the first set it just got worse to the point where I was spining serves in slowly and couldn't move well. All credit to Kristina. She played a very good match. Suerte en la duracion de la tournament, Kristina. Y besos para todos ustedes en Bree.
At least this gives me some free time to myself. I had a commitment to go to a zoo that I need to fulfil, even though I lost early. As long as I don't touch a snake again, I'll be okay. Snakes are a little frightening (remember Sydney?)
With Love

Spain d. Ukraine 6-3 6-4
Spain once again prooved to the crouds that they are mentaly tough, and have the talent to reach the Year End Champions ships. Defeating Ukraines Victoria Kutuzova in straight sets, to book them selved in yet another Clay Semi-Final. They prooved to strong for the Ukraine team who werent playing bad. But Spain was playing some excelent tennis.
The first set, and second set werent diiferent at all, Spain broke Victoria Once on both occasions. But Anabel Was holding her serve very consistantly and giving Victoria no chance to come back into the match. "She playing well, This is our 3rd encounter and were confident against them now. But i think they will proove to much for us in the future"

:worship:;)The Spainards keep their unbeaten record on clay with a powerful display of tennis in the final two sets :yeah:. However Australia have shown that they along with the other countries are getting closer to stopping their dominance. When will they be stopped? only time will tell...
